Mrs. G. W. McGraw - Rebecca McGraw

Last rites for Mrs. G. W. McGraw were held Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock in the First Baptist Church with Rev. L. W. Crouch officiating, assisted by Rev. Rayford B. Harris. Burial followed in the city cemetery under the direction of the Palacios Funeral Home.

Mrs. McGraw was born Rebecca Shepherd, January 26, 1866 in Kentucky. At the age of 18 years she was married to George W. McGraw, who was then a young Baptist minister. To Rev. and Mrs. McGraw, ten children were born, nine of whom are still living.

In 1908 the family came to live in Texas where most of them have remained. Mr. McGraw passed away in 1918.

Mrs. McGraw was born and reared in a devout christian home and was well prepared to be the companion of a minister. Outside of her home her church was her main interest. In recent years, due to ill health, she had been unable to attend her church services, but she found satisfaction in worship through the use of her radio, by which she was able to hear fine sermons from time to time. She kept up her daily Bible readings as long as she was able to see and her devoted christian life was an inspiration to her family and her friends.

For the past four years she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. B. P. Holmes, of Palacios.

We join the many friends in expressions of love and sympathy to the bereaved children and their families.
