Funeral services for Gladys Ola Laxon Kelley, 79, were held April 12 at 2 p. m. at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Bauerschlag officiating. Interment followed at Palacios Cemetery. Mrs. Kelley was born Jan. 24, 1904 in Bosque County in Iradell, TX and died April 10, 1983 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston. She was the daughter of David and Georgia Deggs Laxon. Survivors include three daughters, Sue Schneider of Olivia, Hazel Koch and Lucille Arnold, both of Palacios; one son, Alvin H. Kelley; ten grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ella Lee Kelly, 84, of Palacios, will be held 4 p. m. Tuesday at Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Shann Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Palacios Cemetery. Mrs. Kelly was born Oct. 20, 1908 in Wood County to J. W. and Martha Gilbarth Cosby and she died June 13, 1993 in Bay City. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence C. Kelly of Palacios; two daughters, Mary Richard of Donald R. Kelly and Roy L. Kelly, both of Palacios and Lawrence C. Kelly of Victoria; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert McCrory; four brothers; one sister; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Kelly’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements are with Palacios Funeral Home in Palacios.

Funeral services for Henry Edward Kelly were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday, February 18, in the Palacios Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Harrold officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. A son of the late Michael and Carrie Kelly, he was born in Emmitt, Kansas on November 21, 1892. A resident of this area since 1908 when the family moved to Texas and settled in the Turtle Bay community, he died Sunday, February 16, at Wagner General Hospital. He is survived by three brothers, Harold of Laurel, Miss., Joe and Lawrence; one sister, Monica Kelly; four nephews, Donald, Roy and Lawrence Kelly, Jr. and Robert McCrory; two nieces, Betty Kelly all of Palacios and Mary Richards of Point Comfort.

Funeral services for Joe Marcus Kelly were held at the Palacios Funeral Home Sunday, November 14 at 4 p. m. with the Rev. Michael Harrold officiating. Requiem mass was held at 7 a. m. Monday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church followed by interment in Palacios Cemetery. A resident of this community since 1908, he was born in Emmett, Kansas on October 8, 1895, son of Carrie and Michael Kelly. He died Saturday, November 13, in Wagner General Hospital after a long illness. Survivors include two brothers, Lawrence Kelly of Palacios, Harold Kelly of Laurel, Miss. and one sister, Monica Kelly of Palacios.

Palacios—Lawrence C. Kelly, 98, of Palacios died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997. He was born March 18, 1898, in Emmelt, Kan., to the late Michael and Carrie Wallace Kelly. He was a Catholic. Graveside services for Monica Kelly, 94 of Palacios are scheduled for 2 p. m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 1994, in Palacios Cemetery with the Rev. Casimir Jarzombek officiating. Ms. Kelly was born Nov. 13, 1899 in St. Mary, Kan., to Michael and Karry [Carrie] Kelly. Her family moved to the Palacios area in 1908 and she was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Survivors include a brother, Lawrence Kelly of Palacios and a number of nieces and nephews. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home of Palacios.

Graveside services were conducted by Rev. Rayford Harris at 11:30 a. m. Tuesday, August 5, for Patricia Kelly, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kelly. Born Sunday, August 2, in Wagner General Hospital, the baby passed away Monday, August 3. Survivors include her parents, Donald and Pearl Kelly, one brother, Donald R. Kelly, Jr. and two sisters, Stephanie Lynn and Beverly Ann Kelly.

Mrs. E. M. Kennedy, Jr., died at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon, the 21st inst. in the 27th year of her age. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon by Rev. Owens pastor of the Christian church, followed by interment at the city cemetery. Deceased was a member of the Christian Church, and had lived a devoted Christian and mother to the time of her death. The family are new settlers here, having moved to Palacios only a few weeks since, and the Beacon was uninformed as to the other members of the family. The bereaved husband and children, and all other members of the family have the sincere sympathy of all our people in their sad and unexpected bereavement.

Mrs. Alice Kidd, who died at her home in the city, October 3, 1940, following a short illness, was born in Wadley, Ala., October 20, 1875. In 1905 she was married to Mr. J. S. Kidd, who preceded her in death several years ago. Nine children survive from this marriage, four daughters, Mrs. Bill Williams, Mrs. Alice Sike, of Palacios, Mrs. Ella Evans, of Coleman, and Mrs. W. D. Bird, of Tipton, Okla.; five sons, Floyd, Boyd, T. L. and J. C Kidd, all of Palacios, and H. A. Kidd, of San Jose, Calif. Funeral services were held from the Palacios Funeral Home, Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock, conducted by Rev. L. W. Crouch, assisted by Rev. J. E. Mack. Burial was made in the Palacios Cemetery under the direction of the Palacios Funeral Home.

James Burns Kidd, 30, was buried here Sunday following services in the Palacios Funeral Home at 2:30 p. m. Kidd, who is survived by his wife and four young children, was an employee of King Oil Company. He was born in Coleman, Texas December 12, 1925. James Irwin Sikes, a cousin of the deceased, presided over the services. Surviving children are: Diana, nine; Beverly, five; James Burns, Jr., three; and Tommy Wayne, one and a half. He is also survived by his wife, Cora, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Kidd of El Maton, and four sisters: Mrs. Faye Clements, Victoria; Mrs. Lucile Dawson, Houston; Mrs. Lou White, Buckeye; and Mrs. Billy Ann McDonald of Victoria.

Funeral services for James Curtis Kidd, 81, a former resident of Palacios, were held at 10:30 a. m. Monday, February 4, at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Barry Bauerschlag officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. A resident of Matagorda County for 60 years, Mr. Kidd died Thursday, January 31, in Midwest City Memorial Hospital in Nacoma Park, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by two sons, James Burns Kidd and Robert Hall Kidd. Survivors include his wife, Sallie Burns Kidd of Nacoma Park, Oklahoma; four daughters, Mrs. Faye Clement of Kingsville, Mrs. Lucille Dawson of Yellville, Arkansas, Mrs. Billie Ann McDonald of Nacoma Park, Okla. and Mrs. Lois White of St Joe, Arkansas; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Sikes of Houston and Mrs. Leona Williams of Brady; two brothers, Tom Kidd of Palacios and Bill Kidd of California; 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Kidd was born October 13, 1900 in Almond, Alabama to J. S. Kidd and Joyce Wilkerson and died October 21 at Wagner General Hospital. He is survived by a sister, Leona Williams of Brady, Texas and a brother, Henry A. Kidd of Sun City West, Arizona.

Funeral services for Leona Wright Kilgore, 88, were held March 22 at 3 p. m. at the Palacios Funeral Home with Rev. J. R. Gwin officiating. Interment followed at Palacios Cemetery. Mrs. Kilgore was born April 4, 1893 in Wadley, Alabama and died March 20 at Wagner General Hospital. She was the daughter of Thomas E. and Ida Wright, and had lived in Palacios for 68 years. She is survived by two daughters, Lottie Anderson of Star Route, Palacios, and Zeralou Sparberry of Marshall, TX.; three sons, T. A. Kilgore and H. L. Kilgore, both of Ingleside and W. I. Kilgore of Palacios; two sisters, Dessy Ross of Palacios and Bertha Nelson of Lafayette, Louisiana; and 13 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tom Kilgore, Randy Griffith, Mike Griffith Bobby Hester and Curtis Brothers.

Funeral services for Nettie Charlene Lewis Kilgore, 72, of Palacios, were held May 12, 2000 at Palacios Funeral Home with Chaplain Don Delaplain officiating. Interment was at Palacios Cemetery. Mrs. Kilgore was born March 11, 1928 in Palacios to Harley C. and Hattie Best Lewis. She died May 8, 2000 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Palacios and married to Walter Kilgore for 51 years. She is survived by her husband, Walter Kilgore of Palacios; daughters, Karla Nell Carr of Crockett, TX, and Cynthia Lynn Peterson of Leander, TX; a son, David Keith Kilgore of Lockhart, TX; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Palacios Funeral home Sunday, June 9 at 3 p. m. for Walter B. Kilgore, Rev. Rayford B. Harris conducted the last rites followed by interment in the Palacios Cemetery. A resident of Palacios since 1914, he was born February 4, 1888 in Clay County, Alabama. He was married to Leona Wright and to this union five children were born. He died at his home Friday, June 7, after a lingering illness. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. V. L. Anderson of Palacios and Mrs. Jim Straberry of Corpus Christi; and three sons, Lewis, Allan and Walter E.

Funeral services for Robert Wayne Killgore, 51, of Spring, Tx. were held Aug. 26, 2005 at Cypress Fairbanks Funeral Home in Houston, with his aunt, La Nita Slaughter, officiating. Mr. Killgore was born July 4, 1954 in Coronado Island, San Diego County, Ca. to Eugene and Doris Killgore. He died Aug. 23, 2005 in his home in Spring. He attended school in Palacios, Tx. Mr. Killgore is survived by his wife of 25 years Deborah Ann Killgore of Spring, Tx.; two daughters, Kelly Marie Killgore of Austin and Christa Lyn Killlgore of Spring, Tx; by his mother Doris Killgore Harrison of Palacios; and by one brother Richard Lee Killgore of Sabine Pass, Tx. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Born October 16, 1906, he died Sunday, June 2 in the VA hospital in Houston. Survivors include his wife, Trillie Kilpatrick of Jensen Point; four step-daughters, Mrs. Mary M. Benner, Mrs. Trissie Ann Arnold of Palacios, Mrs. Lavinia Marie Brumbelow of Damon, Mrs. Mary Alice Porter of Tennessee; two step-sons, Arland Ray Thompson of Palacios and Anthony Laray Gresham of Brazoria and one brother, Dick Spiles of Oklahoma City.

Trillie Kilpatrick, 77, of Palacios, passed away Feb. 19, 1999. She was born Jan. 19, 1922 in Hinton, OK to James and Melvina Arnold. Mrs. Kilpatrick is survived by four daughters, Mary Little of Washington, Tressie Arnold and Lavina Brumbelow, and Mary Alice Porter of TN; sons Arland Ray Thompson of Palacios, Anthony Cronely of Clute; brothers, Sterling Arnold of Edna, three sisters, Millie Hartman of Palacios, Sylvia Ringo of Brazoria, and Evelyn Cecil of Anthony, TX, and 19 grandchildren.
