On Tuesday morning, April 9, at an early hour the Angel of Death entered the house of our esteemed sister and co-worker, Mrs. Cora Ifland, and took away her beloved mother, Mrs. A. Hummer to answer the "roll call up yonder." Whereas, It has pleased our Heavenly Father to call His faithful and devoted hand maid Home to the place He had prepared for her, we, a committee of Comrades from the W. C. T. U. of Palacios, submit the following resolutions: Resolved, That the going away of Mother Hummer has left a vacancy in the home and an aching void in the heart of Sister Ifland, and our hearts go out to her in loving sympathy in this sad hour of her bereavement and we commend her to the tender mercies of our Heavenly Father who comforts those who mourn and who bindeth up the broken heart. That, we realize our Sister's loss is her Mother's gain and we should bow in humble submission to the will of Him who doeth all things well and should dedicate our lives anew to His service. That the going of Mother Hummer reminds us that in the midst of life we are in death and we know not how soon the summons is to.come to another in our midst and we should so live that we will be accounted worthy of an entrance to the "Home Over There," where partings shall be no more. That a copy of these resolutions be sent to our bereaved Sister Ifland, a copy be placed upon the pages of our minutes and a copy be sent to the Palacios Beacon for publication. Mrs. Parker, Pres., Mrs. Crawford, Mrs. Sherman, Mrs. Moore
