Graveside services for infant Wesley Keith Hagar were held Feb. 16 at 10 a. m. at the Palacios Cemetery with Brother Lee Cutshaver officiating. He died shortly after birth at Wagner General Hospital on Feb. 14, 1985. Survivors include his parents, Daniel B. and Patricia Akin Hagar and three sisters, Cindy Williams of Bay City and Linda Hagar and Lydia Hagar of Palacios.

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Mae Hall were held at 4 p. m. Sunday, May 21, at the Palacios Funeral Home with David Mills, minister of the Jehovah Witnesses of Bay City, officiating. Burial was in Palacios Cemetery. A resident of this city for approximately 32 years, she was born April 19, 1904, a daughter of Dan and Mary Jane Riggs Davis in Oakalla, Texas. She died Thursday, May 18, at the Wagner General Hospital. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Helen Burdick of Port Lavaca; four sons, R. A. Hall of Groves, Texas; David Hall of Port Lavaca; James Hall of Houston and John R. Hall of Palacios; three sisters, Mrs. W. J. Pavey of Lamesa, Texas; Mrs. J. T. Ballew of Arizona and Mrs. D. E. Elmore of Sheffield, Texas; two brothers, Vernon Davis of Big Springs and Ed Davis of Lampasas, Texas and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Hall, mother of Mrs. Herschel Poston of Deutschburg, were held at 3 p. m. Thursday, May 4, at the First Baptist Church of Palacios. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. Mrs. Hall was born July 15, 1895, in Farrar. She lived many years in the Deutschburg community before moving to Dallas where she died in a hospital Tuesday after a lengthy illness. Other survivors are daughters, Mrs. Dee Simmons and Mrs. W. D. LaRoche of Dallas, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Palacios—Irene Lenard Hall, 81, of Palacios, died Monday, March 8, 1999. She was born Nov. 21, 1917, in Wausau, Wis., to the late Stanley J. and Mary Eva Wiatkowski Lenard. She was a retired registered nurse. Survivors: husband, Lee B. Hall; daughters, Diana Chapman of Palacios and Sandra Lee Hernandez of San Antonio; sons, Bob Hall and Richard Hall, both of Victoria; sisters, Anna Holzem, Angie Meyer and Val Golomski, all of Wausau, Wis., and Gene Lenard of Lake City, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. John Ray Hall, 67 of
Port Lavaca passed away March 29, 2012. He was born June
24, 1944 in El Campo, Texas to the late John and Shirley
LeCompte Hall and was later adopted by his grandparents,
Richard Sr. and Anna Mae Hall. Mr. Hall met his future
wife when they were 8 and 12 years old throwing rocks
and pecans at each other. He served his country in the
United States Navy. He worked at a licensed plumber for
many years and loved coin collections, guns and Hershey
kisses.

Funeral services for Richard Allen Hall were held at the Palacios Funeral Home Wednesday, August 5, at 3:30 p. m. with Rev. Rayford Harris, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery with graveside services conducted by members of the V. F. W. Post. Mr. Hall, a resident of Palacios for 31 years, was born September 18, 1893 in Killeen, Texas. He passed away Monday, August 3, in the Veterans Hospital in Houston, where he had been a patient for several weeks. He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Hall, of Palacios; one daughter, Janelee Helen Burdick, Port Lavaca; four sons, Richard Allen Jr., Port Arthur; David Clayton, Port Lavaca; James P., Fort Worth and John Ray, Palacios; two sisters, Lillie Cobb, Mullins, Texas and Minnie Parker, San Saba, Texas; Willard W. Davis of Long Beach, Calif.; nine grandchildren and three step grandchildren.

Funeral services for Carl Shelton Halliday, 74, of Port Lavaca were held Tuesday at 2 p. m. at Richardson Funeral Home. Rev. David Bush, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated. Burial followed at Palacios Cemetery. Halliday was born Sept. 20, 1907 in Hamlin, Tx. to the late George Roger and Mary Tennessee Halliday. He had been a resident of Port Lavaca since moving from Palacios in 1951. Halliday a retired employee of Clegg Cold Storage Co., was a former city councilman, a charter member of the Kiwanis Club and a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lela Barrett Halliday; two daughters, Mrs. June Due of Terrell and Mrs. Mary Ruth Tasler of Port Lavaca; one son, Jack R. Halliday of Houston; one sister, Mrs. Josephine Ledford of Moulton, Tx. ; seven grandsons; and three great grandchildren. The family requests that friends who may so desire make memorials to the American Cancer Society or to their favorite charity.

George Roger Halliday, city recorder and former Justice of the Peace of Precinct 3, died at his home Monday afternoon, February 21. Funeral services were held at the Palacios Funeral Home at 10 a. m. Wednesday, February 23 with Rev. Rayford Harris officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. Mr. Halliday was born in Lumpkin, Ga. on August 2, 1878 and has been a resident of this city for thirty five years. He was preceded in death by his wife. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Walter Leadford; son, Carl S. Halliday of Port Lavaca; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Pierce and Mrs. Mary Jo Pearce and three brothers, Willie Halliday, Foy Halliday and Carl Halliday all of Georgia.

Port Lavaca—Lela Barrett Halliday, 87, of Port Lavaca, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999. She was born April 23, 1911, in Pampa, to the late Henry Madden and Ruth Adee Barrett. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Port Lavaca. Survivors: daughter, Mary Ruth Tasler of Port Lavaca; son, Jack R. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Hamlin, he was born in Palacios on September 29, 1921. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and retired in 1978 after 25 years of service at Alcoa Point Comfort Operations. Hamlin, the son of Eldon Herbert and Dorothy Thompson Hamlin, Sr. was born Nov. 12, 1942 in Palacios and died Dec. 23, 1985 at DeTar Hospital in Victoria. Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Sarah Hamlin were held at the Palacios Funeral Home Tuesday, December 6, at 3 p. m. with Rev. Milford R. Zirkel, Jr. officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. A resident of Palacios since 1910, she was born November 27, 1876, in Missouri, a daughter of Richard A. and Martha Adelene Tomlin Seymour. She died Monday, December 5, in El Campo after a lingering illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Hamlin, in 1942 and her only child, Cleo Byron Hamlin in January 1958. She is survived by two granddaughters, Mrs. Ruby Brown of El Paso and Mrs. Laverne Barber of Palacios; one grandson, Eldon Hamlin of Palacios; nine great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Jimmie Frank Hamlin, aged nine years, two months and 12 days, died in the Nightingale hospital in El Campo, Wednesday, August 14. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Hamlin, of this city, and besides his parents is survived by one sister, Raby Jean, and one brother, Johnnie Alfred Hamlin. Funeral services were held from the Palacios Funeral Home at 10 o’clock Thursday morning conducted by Rev. L. W. Crouch, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial was made in the Palacios cemetery with the Palacios Funeral Home in charge. The sympathy of the entire community is extended the bereaved parents and relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie Mae Hamlin, 55 of Palacios, were held Monday at the Palacios Funeral Home with Rev. Maxwell officiating. Interment was in Palacios Cemetery. Mrs. Hamlin died Sunday at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Palacios and the Eastern Star. Funeral services for Mrs. Lela Hamlin was held at the Trinity Baptist Church Friday, July 7, at 3 p. m. with the Rev. J. R. Gwin officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. Daughter of the late James E. and Mary Lela Britton, she was born in Dublin, Texas, on September 4, 1908. Widow of Frank Hamlin, she had been an employee at Dr. Sanford’s Clinic for many years. She passed away at the home Wednesday night, July 5. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Jean Willis of Pascagoula, Miss.; one son, Johnny Alton Hamlin of Palacios and five grand children.

Funeral services for Oren B. Hamlin, 42, of Bay City, will be held at 2 p. m. today (Wednesday) at the First Baptist Church in Bay City with Dr. W. D. Baker and Rev. Rayford Harris officiating. Interment will be in Palacios Cemetery. Hamlin died Dec. 8 at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston. A member of the First Baptist Church in Bay City, he was admitted to the Bar in 1965 and has been practicing law in Bay City for 15 years. He was a member of the Matagorda County Bar Association, Texas Bar Association, National Bar Association, an active member of the 100 Club Matagorda County, a member of the Texas Trial Lawyer, Trial Lawyers of America, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyer, Delta Theta Phi Fraternity, American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a CPA and had received his BA and Masters, and Doctor of Jurisprudence from Baylor Law School. He is survived by his wife, Susie Hamlin of Bay City; daughter Kristi Lynn of Bay City; father Byron (Papa Bud) Hamlin of Palacios; mother Nana Beth Hamlin of Palacios; and brothers Billy Hamlin of Palacios. Pallbearers are G. P. Hardy III, Dale Harvill, L. Perry Young, Vernon Harrison Jr., Sonny Cribbs, Joe Archer, Robert Garrett, R. M. Cole, Robin Orr, Glenn Manoski, Mitchell Silver and Bill Wilder. O. B. Hamlin died of a heart attack while at his place of business early Monday morning, and his sudden passing came as a shock to his family and friends. Mr. Hamlin had realized for some time that his health was failing but few expected the hour to come so soon. Orvill Byron Hamlin was born in Republic, Ohio, Jan. 2, 1878, and died in Palacios, April 1, 1940. He came to Texas at the age of eleven from the state of Michigan, later moving to Palacios where he has made his home for several years. He spent the greater part of his life in business especially that of selling meats and other foods, and was associated here with his brother, G. W., at the time of his death. He was so kind and trustful of others that oft times he suffered loss because of his own kindness. Mr. Hamlin became a Christian and a member of the Baptist Church some five years ago and up until his health began to fail was very regular in attendance of his Church services. He was a devoted husband and father, a true and loyal friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew him best. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Allie Hamlin, six sons, Reagan and Frank, of Freeport; John, Byron, Bonard and Raymond, of Palacios, and one daughter, Pauline, also of Palacios. Others to survive are three brothers and three sisters, George Hamlin, of Palacios and Harry Hamlin of Fort Worth. The other brothers and sisters live in Michigan. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Brandon-Duffy Funeral Home, with Rev. L. W. Crouch officiating and burial made in the Palacios Cemetery under the direction of the Palacios Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Richard Dwayne Hamlin, 5-day-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hamlin, were held at 9 a. m. Tuesday, June 1 at the Palacios Funeral Home with the Rev. John Berkley officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. The infant died May 30 in the Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. Survivors other than his parents include two sisters, Shelia and Vicky.

Funeral services for Willie Beth Hamlin, 85, of Palacios, were held Nov. 27, 1998 at the First Baptist Church of Palacios with Rev. Hollas Hoffman officiating. Interment was at Palacios Cemetery. Mrs. Hamlin was born March 21, 1913, in China Springs, TX to the late Alex and Dora Carpenter. She died Nov. 25, 1998. A resident of Palacios since 1931, she was former owner and operator, along with her husband, of Hamlin’s Grocery in Palacios for 55 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palacios. Mrs. Hamlin is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Dolly Hamlin of Palacios; a daughter-in-law, Susie Hamlin of Bay City; two sisters, Mary Kepler of Houston and Monette Hill of Hurst; a sister-in-law, Lillian Carpenter of Waco; four grandchildren, Kristi Hamlin of Bay City, Walter Hamlin and wife, Barbara, of Palacios, Lisa McKethan and husband, Darren, of Robinson, TX and Elaine Alexander of Riesel, TX; and by six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hamlin was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Byron Hamlin; a son, Oren Hamlin; three sisters, Florence, Maudie and Bertie; and two brothers, Roger and Buck Carpenter. Pallbearers were Lowell Johnson, John Carroll Sardelich, Sammy Davidson, Bill Scurlock, Dan Tucker and Ted Bates, Jr.
