Earl Leeper Fox

Earl Leeper Fox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fox, was born in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, May 17, 1907, and died in New Gulf, Texas, Feb. 5, 1931. He was a sturdy, handsome specimen of young manhood, being twenty three years, nine months and 19 days of age.

Earl moved with his parents to Palacios in February 1918, and spent the rest of his life in this vicinity. The last few years were spent in the employ of the Texas Gulf Sulphur Company.

His happy and fun-loving disposition made him a general favorite among his associations and we may truthfully say, he numbered his friends by those who knew him.

Earl was a kind and loving son and especially was he devoted to his mother and youngest sister, and in his passing we wonder why this happy-joyous life need end. It is a question we can only answer by, God knows best, and needed him in His works.

The funeral services, conducted by Elder C. P. Rolfson, assisted by Elder Turly, were held at the home, Saturday, Feb. 7, at 10 o'clock, where, surrounded by loving friends and beautiful floral offerings, the words of comfort and consolation were spoken.

The long line of automobiles winded their way to the peaceful Palacios cemetery where Earl's body was gently lowered to rest by his friends, Gus Peters, C. C. Butcher and Tom Wilson of Gulf, Guy Stulting and Charlie McConnell of Palacios and Lanford Slone of Bay City.

To mourn the departure of this gallant spirit are his heartbroken parents, five brothers and four sisters, Porter C. Fox of Washington, D. C.; Frank Fox, Mrs. Clyde Hammon and Bert Fox of Tecumsekh, Okla.; Mrs. L. E. Smith of Seminole, Okla.; Mrs.. T. W. Fields, Sanger, Texas and John, Clyde and Gussie Fox of this city. Besides the near relatives he leaves an aged grandmother and several aunts and uncles. He will be met in the Great Beyond by a sister, Annie, who preceded him in death about nine years.--Contributed.

Carancahua

Grandpa Frankson has gone away and we all miss him. He had been here with us a long time and we all learned to love him, but his familiar figure, his pleasant words and kindly smile with be ours to enjoy no more. We had a service at the Carancahua Church Sunday afternoon. He gave us the lot on which it stands--and a large crowd of neighbors and friends were there to show their love and pay their respects.
