Funeral services for Amos Deadrick, 75, of Blessing are scheduled for 1 p. m. Saturday at the Church of God of Prophecy with Brother James Sykes officiating. Burial will follow in Palacios Cemetery in Palacios. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p. m. Friday at Green’s Mortuary in Bay City. Mr. Deadrick was born Sept. 18, 1918, in West Carancahua to Cap Desoto and Willie Bell Lacy Deadrick and died April 26, 1994, in Bay Villa Nursing Home. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Survivors include four daughters, Josie Haynes of Amarillo, Martha Lee Haynes of Palacios, Tracy Hebert of Houston and Kathleen Blaine of Houston; three sons, Amos Deadrick Jr. of Bay city, Billy Deadrick of Galveston and Jim Willis “J. W.” of Palacios; four sisters, Jane Ellen Curry of Palacios, Rose Lee Curry of Palacios, Martha Matthews of Palacios and Claudie Bell White of San Antonio; a brother, James “Tott” Deadrick of Galveston, five guardian children, 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 19 guardian grandchildren. Pallbearers are members of the family. Arrangements are with Matthews Funeral Home of Wharton.

Bishop J. W. Deadrick, 71, of Houston died at Hermann Hospital in Houston, August 5, 1981. He was a former resident of Wilson Creek Community a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Survivors include: wife, Mrs. Ruby Jean Deadrick of Houston; sisters, Mrs. Rosie Lee Curry, Mrs. Jane Ellen Curry and Mrs. Martha Matthews of Palacios and Mrs. Claudia White of San Antonio; brothers, Harry of Wilson Creek, Dee Mitchell of Los Angeles, Calif., Amos of Blessing, I. J. of Blessing and James of Galveston; 21 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Church of God of Prophecy of Palacios Saturday, August 9, 1 p. m. with Rev. Samuel Rymer officiating. Interment will follow Palacios Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 4 p. m to 9 p. m. at Duncan Roberts Funeral Home Chapel. Active pallbearers are ministers. Funeral services for Frank DuBois were held at 2 p. m. Wednesday, March 2, at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. T. Jones officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. Son of the late Gustave and Myrtle Sweet DuBois, he was born June 26, 1894, in Riverside Calif. A Palacios resident for several years, he lived at 101 First Street. He died February 28 in Wagner General Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Florence DuBois of Palacios; four daughters, Mildred Weidner of Hawaii, Beulah Walker of Palacios, Lois McKay of California and Juanita McKenzie of Colorado; one son, Jimmie Nuttall of Palacios; two sisters, Helen Molinar of California and Edith Horstman of Washington; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Augusta Dunn, 89, of Palacios, will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday, Oct.16, at the Taylor Brothers Palacios Funeral Home Chapel in Palacios with the Rev. R. H. Zumalt officiating. Mrs. Dunn died Friday, Oct. 14, at Wagner General Hospital in Palacios. She was born Aug. 22, 1894, in Doss, Texas. She had been a resident of Palacios since 1941 and is a member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Kirkham of Belton, Laura Huddleston and Hardie Ann Baldwin of Palacios and Gladys Baldwin of Angleton; five sons, Elmer, Earl, George, Eddie and Joseph Dunn, all of Palacios; five sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Elmer E. Dunn, 72, of Palacios died Jan. 13, 1997 at Memorial Medical Center in Port Lavaca. He was born Jan. 31, 1924 in Somerset, Maryland to George Thomas and Augusta Baethge Dunn. He was a resident of Palacios since 1941, a member of the Baptist Church and a veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Navy. Funeral Service will be 1 p. m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997, at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mitch Sauls officiating. Interment will be at the Palacios Cemetery. Pallbearers are Kelly Baldwin, Thomas Kirkham, Michael Huddleston, Eddie Dunn, Jr., Nelo Seaman and Leon Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Boyd and Mark Dunn. Funeral services for George Thomas Dunn, Sr. will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday, August 26, at the Palacios Funeral Home with the Rev. Leslie Webb officiating. Interment will be in the Palacios Cemetery. Son of Thomas Francis and Anna Randall Dunn, he was born November 24, 1895, in Washington, D. C. A resident of Palacios for 30 years, he was a veteran of World War I, serving in the U. S. Army, and a retired employee of Standard Oil Company. He passed away at 1 a. m. Tuesday, August 24, in Wagner General Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Augusta Dunn of Palacios; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Kirkham of Belton, Mrs. Laura Huddleston, Mrs. Hardie Ann Baldwin, both of Palacios, Mrs. Gladys Baldwin of Angleton; five sons, Elmer, Earl, George Jr,, Eddie and Carroll Dunn, all of Palacios; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Lippy of Pennsylvania; one brother, William Harding Dunn of Virginia, 23 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Services were held 4 p. m. December 21, 1989 at the Palacios Funeral Home chapel for Timothy Edward Dupuis of Tres Palacios Oaks. Rev. John Rivera officiated at the ceremony and at the burial following at Palacios Cemetery. Dupuis was born April 6, 1950 in Charlottesville, VA to Edward Jude and Virginia Stokes Dupuis and died Dec. 18, 1989 at Wagner General Hospital in Palacios. He was a member of the Tres Palacios Oaks Volunteer Fire Department and the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Robin Lisa Cook Dupuis of Palacios; mother Virginia Dupuis of Laurel, MD; father-and mother-in-law Lee C. and Shirlie Cook of Palacios; three daughters, Amanda Renee and Virginia Anne Dupuis, both of Palacios, and Rebekah Marie Dupuis of New Zealand; two sons, Timothy Edward Dupuis, Jr. and James Shenandoah Dupuis of New Zealand; and two brothers, Anthony Dupuis of Maryland and Frankie Dupuis of Maine.

Carol Anne Duran, 23 months old of Palacios, died July 28 in the University Hospital at Little Rock Ark. after developing complications from open heart surgery. Carol was born on Aug. 28, 1978 in Champ Traylor Memorial Hospital in Port Lavaca. Survivors include the parents, Gilbert and Mary Duran of Palacios; one sister Sonia Duran of Palacios; five brothers, Gilbert Jr. of Tampa, Fla., Richard, Andrew, Carlos and Robby Duran, all of Palacios; paternal grandparents Pete Duran, Sr. of Wharton and Mary B. Gonzales of Palacios; maternal grandmother, Lorenza Alamia of Palacios. Prayer services were held July 30 in the Palacios Funeral Home. A Mass of the Angels was offered July 31 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church by Father Brian Crookes. Interment followed in Palacios Cemetery under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Robert Bocanegra Duran, 63, of Palacios, were held Dec. 18, 1999 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating. Interment was at Palacios Cemetery. Mr. Duran was born July 27, 1936, in Boling to the late Ponciano and Mary Bocanegra Duran. He died Dec. 15, 1999. A resident of Palacios since 1940, he was a retired welder with Alcoa. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Palacios Knights of Columbus Council #6889 and a 4th degree knight. He is survived by his wife, Viola Ottino Duran of Palacios; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy Duran, Sylvia and Ramon Guerrero, Victoria and Larry Pena and Roberta and Joe Rodriguez, all of Palacios; son and daughter-in-law Javier and Ngoc Duran of Victoria; step-mother, Patricia Duran of Wharton; sisters, Mary Duran, Lupe Duran and Andrea Duran, all of Wharton; brothers, Gilbert Duran and Olegario Vargas, both of Palacios, Pete Duran and Ricky Duran, both of Wharton; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Corrine Vargas; and grandchildren, Joann Guerrero and Celestino Duran Alvardo. Pallbearers were Javier Duran, Ramon Guerrero III, Tino Alvardo, Justin Duran, Joe Rodriguez Jr. and Lawrence Pena. Houston—Victoria Marie Duran infant daughter of Blanca Marie Cantu of Palacios and Bruce Duran of Houston, died April 26, 2007. She was born April 26, 2007. Survivors: parents; and grandparents, Edward and Marie Duran of Houston, Ramon Cantu of San Juan, and Delores Cantu of Palacios. The Lord created her just for himself. He loved her so much. He saw this precious li’l angel and decided to keep her for his own glory and honor. We will see you again, little Victoria, when God calls us home to be with him. We love you so much! Visitation will be 8-11 a. m. today, followed by services at 11 a. m., at Bible Baptist Fellowship Church, 457 Commerce St., in Palacios. Pastor Richard Almia will officiate.
