In 1948, this building was moved to Palacios and used as the High School Band Hall (East Side Intermediate School campus in 2018).
When the new school was built, the building was moved to 610 9th Street and remodeled for Pilgrim Rose Baptist Church.

The Pilgrim Rose Baptist Church was organized June 19, 1932, by Rev. P. L. White of Cuero, Texas, and Rev. P. M. Mulkey of Palacios.

Rev. O. E. Meadows was called as the first pastor and he served for three and one-half years. Rev. G. R. Turner succeeded him in 1936 and served faithfully until September 19, 1959. Rev. M. L. Boone, then a student of Mary Allen College, held the services until December, 1959. In December, 1959, Rev. N. Moreland was called as the third pastor of the church. At this time the members were contemplating erecting  new edifice.

The officers of the church were Deacons Sam Hebert, H. M. Deadrick, Joe Stredic, R. D. Taylor, Batt Hebert, Benno Haynes and Johnnie Heard.

In 1961 Rev. Huff was called, and he served until 1963.

In July, 1963, Revs. Samuel Tims was called as the fifth pastor. Under his administration James Monroe Mulkey was ordained deacon on March 15, 1970; Dave Watson in 1977; Jim Wygal on March 30, 1975; and Sylvester Polk III, April 6, 1975.

The congregation moved to the new edifice in June, 1971, and dedication services were held July 25, 1971.

The mortgage burning for the church was held March 1, 1976. Rev. Tims served until April, 1982.

The present pastor, Rev. Leroy Monroe of Houston, Texas, was installed August 29, 1982.
