Adela Marie Kutach Farley peacefully passed from this earth on January 16, 2019, at the age of 88 years 6 months in Angleton, Texas. She was born on July 16, 1930, near El Campo, Texas to Benedict & Annie Kutach. Adela, her parents and three sisters lived and worked on their farm until the family moved to the Caranchua Community in 1940. Left to cherish her memory are Adela’s family; son, Benny Farley and wife Yvonne; daughter, Marilyn Mallory; grandsons, Seth Mallory, Joshua Farley, and Colton Farley. She is also survived by sisters, Helen Poessel and Thelma Orsak and husband Bennie; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 68 years, Virgil Farley; son, Lawrence; her parents and sister, Annie Orsak and husband Joe, and brother-in-law Louis Poessel. Adela and Virgil lived, worked and were a part of the Caranchua Community for the majority of their 67+ year marriage. She was a stay-at-home wife, mother and family manager, and worked for Alcoa Aluminum in Point Comfort, Texas for 2 years. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Palacios, Texas, KJZT, a women’s Catholic Fraternal organization, Woodmen Life and a 65-year member of the Jackson County Texas Extension Homemaker’s. Adela was truly devoted to her family and friends---from her immediate family, her nieces, nephews and many cousins to her many friends. She always loved spending time visiting with everyone and never met a stranger. She was a hard-working woman with many talents, always held true to her high set of values, was a true inspiration to her family, and will be truly missed by all of her family & friends. The family visitation will be Monday, January 21 at Palacios Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm, with a rosary recited at 6:30. Final services will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Palacios, Texas. Interment will follow at Palacios Cemetery. Pallbearers are Eric Mallory, Chris Farley, Brett Ringo, Richard Novak, Timothy Orsak, and Ben Orsak. Virgil D. Farley passed away peacefully on March 11, 2015, in Edna, Texas. He was born on June 5, 1928, to Oscar and Nancy Wilkins Farley, and grew up in Crystal City, Texas, with his parents and six siblings. He is survived by his wife, Adela; son, Benny Farley and wife Yvonne; daughter, Marilyn Mallory; grandsons, Eric Mallory and wife Stephanie, Chris Farley and wife Marcey and Brett Ringo; great-grandsons, Seth Mallory, Joshua Farley and Colton Farley; brother, James Farley; and numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Lawrence ; brothers, Otto, Grover and Daniel Farley; and sisters, Pernia Dennis and Leona Wooten. Virgil and Adela have resided in Caranachua community for most of their 67 years of marriage. He worked for Alcoa in Point Comfort, Texas for 36 years, and retired in 1986. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Woodmen of the World. Virgil was an avid hunter and a man of many talents, including ranching, carpentry and mechanics. He was also a wonderful counselor, advisor and teacher to his family, and will be truly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Palacios Funeral Home in Palacios, Texas, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2015, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Palacios, Texas, with Fr. Nancy Louise Fella, 94, passed away peacefully, with her daughter by her side, on November 30, 2014, at The Home Place assisted living in Ganado, Texas, following a long battle with Alzheimer-type dementia. She was born March 6, 1920, in Tyler, Texas, to John Felix Ward and Mary Lucille Ford Ward. The family later moved to the Clemville area, where she attended school in Markham, and met her high school sweetheart and future husband, John Victor (J.V.) Fella. They were married in 1940, and celebrated 68 years of marriage before his death, in 2008. Nancy and J.V. lived in Clemville until they moved to Edna in 1960. They became active members of First Baptist Church. She loved singing in the choir, and greatly enjoyed teaching a Training Union class with J.V., assisting with the Girls Auxiliary, and participating in the WMU. She also enjoyed many other activities, such as sewing, gardening, get-togethers and trips with her daughter, as well as friends and family, and in her later years, oil painting. Nancy and J.V. greatly enjoyed camping at Lake Texana. She loved life, and had a wonderful smile and laugh. In Edna, she worked for a time, for Dr. David Towery, then at Jackson County State Bank, until her retirement. She volunteered with the Blue Belles at the hospital, as well as at Southbrook. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Geraldine Stell. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Suzanne Fella of Houston; her sister, Mary Frances Hicks of El Campo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas, on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 4, 2014, at 10 a.m., in the First Baptist Church of Edna, with Brother Robert Krause officiating. Bobby Leo “B.L.” Finch, 85, of Sweeny passed away May 7, 2014. He was born in Houston, TX to the late Walter Lionel Finch and Hettie Mae Ellis Finch. He was a graduate of Bruni High School in Bruni, TX and attended A & I College in Kingsville, TX and Southwest Texas University in San Marcus, TX. Bobby spent his younger years working for Humlel oil Company in South Texas. He married Mary Madelyne Patterson on January 15, 1955 in Menard, Texas. They moved to Sweeny, TX in 1968. Bobby started his own business, Finch Water Well Service, in 1968 and remained active until his retirement in 2013. He also owned and operated B. L. Finch Oil Production Company in Boling, TX. He loved to fish, hunt, cook and spend time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Madelyne Finch; daughter Sandra Michelle Nelson & husband Phillip John “P.J.”; sons Robert Finch and John Finch & wife Vickie; sister Shirley Mae Burgess; brother-in-law and friend for 61 years, Marvin Brown; grandchildren Jordon Elizabeth Finch, Shelby Nicole Nelson, Philip John Nelson and Christian Cole Nelson . He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Bobby Leon Finch and brother-in-law John Lager Burgess. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor who loved everyone unconditionally. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm until 8pm Friday at the funeral home. Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis Fisher; a son, Johnny Miller; and three brothers, Roy, Henry and Jerry Yarborough. Patrick Mark Flanagan, 56, of Van Vleck, was called to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 2, 2015. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was born in Huntsville, TX to the late William “Bill” Flanagan and Shirley Jordan Flanagan. He was a 1976 graduate of Dickinson High School where he excelled at both football and track. He worked tirelessly as a dedicated employee of Houston Lighting & Power for over 20 years as well as a rancher at the family estate in Van Vleck. His life interests were many and include loving and caring for family and friends, rodeo, ranching, hunting, fishing, and visiting the State of Alaska. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Tracy, son Jeremy, brother Mike and his wife Beatrice, brother Monte, nephew Michael Flanagan, uncle Don Jordan and his wife Barbara, and many loving cousins. His life will be celebrated at a small family gathering to be determined.

Roy John Forrest An oil field drill, Roy John Forrest, 57, died Saturday night at Matagorda General Hospital of injuries received May 8 when he was struck by a car near Damon. Relatives said Forrest had got out to walk after having car trouble and was struck on the road. He had resided in the Bay City area 18 years and lived on Skelly Road. Services were held at 2 pm Monday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home, Rev. William Smith of Temple Baptist officiating, with the interment in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck. Survivors include the wife, Ruby Lee; mother, Mrs. Carrie Forrest of West Columbia; daughter, Mrs. Bettye Ann Wied of Bay City; son, Roy Jimmy Forrest of Bay City; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Shiver of Houston, Mrs. J. Mr. J. J. Fortenberry, stockman of the county, died at the Matagorda County hospital, Wednesday evening at 7:30 from injuries received when the car in which he was riding alone, was struck by a train at Midfields, Texas, Wednesday about noon. He was carried to the hospital by Taylor Bros. ambulance and lived for only a few hours. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. J. M. Egan of Corpus Christi; three sons, J. J. Jr., of Phoenix, Kirk L., of West Columbia and Leslie Lee, in the army, now stationed at Okinawa. Also one sister survives, Mrs. Annie Brinkley of Midfield. Funeral services will be in charge of Taylor Bros., and the announcement of the time of the services is pending the word from relatives.

Jimmie A. Foss, of Bay City, Texas, passed away on August 11, 2014. Jimmie A. Foss was born in Bay City Texas on July 23, 1949. He graduated from Van Vleck High School in 1967 and continued on to attend Sam Houston State University. Jim Foss married Jackie Foss in June of 1969; they were married 45 years. Jim Foss was the owner of Foss Hardy and Arbuckle Insurance. Jim enjoyed everything outdoors from traveling, fishing, and especially working in the yard. He was an all-state football player for Van Vleck High School. He was the President of the Matagorda County Holding Pen/Matagorda County Fair Association Scholarship Fund. He was a former member of the Bay City Lion’s Club. Jim is survived by his wife Jackie; daughter, Chelsea and her husband Richard Ferguson; daughter, Alyson and her husband Craig Mitchell; grandchildren, Emily Bowers, Gage Ferguson, Lexi Mitchell and Olivia Mitchell; brother, Ron Foss and wife Jeanette; sister, Rebecca Lowery and husband Clint; and brother, Kerry Crowley. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Rudie Foss and Mary Neal Keener Crowley; brothers, Kent Crowley and Keith Crowley; grandparents, Rudolph Gustav Foss and Leah Fink Foss, and Lala Causby Keener. Jackie Foss Jackie Foss, 67, of Bay City passed away July 12, 2016. She was born November 13, 1948 in Bay City, to the late James Rae McWhirter and Edith Bell Senich McWhirter. She was preceded in death by her husband and high school sweetheart Jim Foss in 2014. The two were married on June 13, 1969 in Bay City, Texas at The First Baptist Church. After graduation from Bay City High School she continued her education at Sam Houston State University achieving a double major in Art. She taught early education at Van Vleck ISD for several years and later went on to work with her husband for Modern Living Mobile Homes until acquiring Foss Hardy and Arbuckle Insurance Agency in the late 1980’s. Jackie was involved with many community services, including The Pilot Club, The Garden Club, Junior Service League where she served as a member for 24 years. Jackie was also involved as secretary and treasurer for over 30 years of The Holding Pen Club. Jackie truly loved to be outside, spend time with friends and family and enjoyed life to its fullest. She is survived by her daughters Chelsea Ferguson & husband Richard and Alyson Mitchell & her husband Craig and by her grandchildren Emily Bowers, Gage Ferguson, Lexi Mitchell and Olivia Mitchell. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends who have been her rock and her companions since Jim passed away. Addie Laura Foster, 86, a resident of Bay City, Texas, died Tuesday, April 3, at Bay Villa Nursing Home. A native of Matagorda County, she is survived by a daughter Mrs. Mary Ella Douglas of Rosharon, Texas, a sister Mrs. Cygred Terry of Bay City, by two grandchildren, and by one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will take place at Taylor Brothers Chapel, Thursday, April 5, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Joe Ramsey, Pastor of Markham Baptist Church, officiating. Acting as pallbearers will be Verner Bowers, George Hejtmanek, Harry Shannon and John, David, and Henry Spoor. Interment will be in Cedarvale Cemetery. Hubert Earl Foster, 73, of Markham, TX, passed away December 3, 2014. He was born January 5, 1941, in Young County, Texas, to the late Thomas Hugh Foster and Lena Bell Barker Foster. Earl was a decorated combat veteran during the Vietnam Era and received many medals, including the “Distinguished Flying Cross.” He left the Army with the rank of Captain. He was a Green Beret and in the 101st Airborne Division. He also, was a retired Captain with Eastern Airlines, and a rancher and farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Foster; and grandson, T. J. Foster. Survivors include daughter, Shelley Foster Stitchler; son, Hubert Earl “Troup” Foster II; brothers, Jean Alvin Foster and wife Seglinda, and Thomas Hugh Foster and wife Ann; grandchildren, Ean Foster and Stephanie Rene Flores; and great-grandchildren, Eanna Brenn Foster, Jaslene Navae Pittman and Jaivyn Rachad Pittman. Johnnie Fouse of Uvalde, TX, passed away on March 29, 2014 in Amistad Nursing Home, at the age of 89. She was born on February 23, 1925 in Goose Creek, TX to John and Sara (Worsham) Ryan. She is survived by two daughters, Gail Robinette and husband Joe B. of Brackettville, TX and Debbie Carroll and husband Johnnie of Palacios, TX; son, Lester B. “Skipper” Fouse, Jr. of Angleton, TX; four grandchildren, Sunny Ruth, Derek Cox, Amber Cox, and Annie Sanders; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Edd Goth, in 1970; and Lester Bradford Fouse, Sr. in 2009. Cremation was under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary, Uvalde, TX.

Charles Ray Fox, 72, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Beulah Fox; and mother-in-law, Mildred “Mingo” Sandusky. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret Fox; daughters, Cindy Fox Cavazos and Tracy Fox; granddaughter, Kelsie Cavazos; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Williams; sisters, Bonnie Sue Law and husband Fred, Linda Kay Rogers and husband Rothey; father-in-law, A. N. “Sandy” Sandusky; brother-in-law, Dr. George Sandusky and wife MaryAnn; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Barnett, Patty Esslinger and husband Warren Campbell; also not to be forgotten, his dog and little buddy, “Lucy Lou”; as well as a host of other family members and friends. Charles graduated from Bay City High School and lived in Pearland since 1978. He enjoyed camping, being outdoors and helping all of his family and neighbors, especially those friends residing on Orange and Linwood Streets, with whom he became very close with over the years. Charles was a great provider for his family and loved them very much. He was affectionately known as “Papa” and considered being a grandfather to Kelsie and Ellie, one of his greatest joys. Charles will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Charles’ honor, to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services for Joe “Greek” Frangullie, 85, of Palacios were held July 1, 2014 at the Palacios Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Phillip H. Parker VFW Post 2438. Joe was born November 7, 1928 in Palacios to the late Lazarus Frangullie and Lupe Hernandez Frangullie and passed away June 27, 2014. He served in the United States Navy for 5 years and then was a commercial shrimper most of his life. He is survived by daughters Thelma Sanchez of Texas City and Melissa Frangullie of Bay City; sons Joseph Frangullie & wife Sela of Alvin, Steve Frangullie of Rosenberg and Morgan McCorkle of Palacios; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous family members and friends.He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Elfida Frangullie and a daughter Lynda Frangullie. Addie Franz Addie Franz, 72, Bay City, died in the Matagorda House Monday. She was born in Rosenberg, June 11, 1907. After her marriage to LeRoy Franz, the couple moved to Bay City 54 years ago. The couple owned and operated Franz Cleaners for many years. Mrs. Franz was a member of the First Christian Church. She is survived by her husband, LeRoy, of the home; two sons, Lloyd of Brady and Lee of Pasadena; two sisters, Dorothy Pierce, Palestine and Beulah Reek, Needville; two brothers, Roy L. Rogers, Madisonville and Jack Rogers, Brazoria; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday in the First Christian Church with Rev. Robert Matheny officiating. Pallbearers will be Woody Bond, Bill Frantz Sr., Morris Richardson, Shirley Brown, Fred Friday, Phil Wilson, George Wainner and Otha Caldwell. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home. She was born November 26, 1931 in Galena Park to Lawrence Homer Chandler and Myrle Evelyn Bigham Chandler. Ms. Frazer was a member of McClelland Community Church in Shelby County. Vivian Dale Austin Frieda, 89, of Longview, Texas, was called home to God’s loving Grace, February 19, 2015. She was born November 14, 1925, in Anadarko OK, to Clifford and Jewel Austin. Vivian was raised in Alice, Texas where she enjoyed riding her horse Dolly. At the age of 12, she was baptized at the First Methodist Church, there in Alice, where later, she became the church secretary. Vivian developed an unwavering faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, devotion to family, and a strong work ethic. No matter where she lived, the Church was the center of her life. Vivian graduated from William Adam’s High School in 1943, and received her Associates degree from Texas A&I University. She was a member of Eastern Star, where she met her husband, Robert (Bob) Frieda. In 1965, they moved to Bay City, Texas. It was in Bay City, where she began her work with Central Power and Light, where she retired after 22 years of service. Vivian also helped her husband run Frieda’s drive-in-and grocery. She enjoyed hunting with her husband, and fishing with the family. She loved to travel, before heading off on a car trip, she would sing, “off we go into the wild blue yonder.” Vivian traveled to Israel in 1995, which she talked about as a trip of a life-time. She moved to Longview, Texas in 1998, to be closer to her daughter, Nan, after some health issues. Vivian was active as a volunteer for the historical museum and for the church, where she was a member of the Thelma Morgan Sunday School. Vivian always knew the importance of family and gave selflessly to ensure that her family was provided for. Vivian always had a sense of knowing when she was needed, and there would be no stopping her to get to the ones she loved. When it mattered most, she was always there. Those left to cherish Vivian’s memory are her, brother, CA Austin (Patty); children, Kay Schnell (Ronald), Nan Gardner (Jerry), and Wayne Frieda (Sharon); grandchildren, Wendy Wagner (Gary), Edie Lee (Albert), Robbie Frieda (Allison), Russell Frieda (Alicia), Greg Gardner (Paula) and John Gardner; great-grandchildren, Callie Wagner, Oliver Lee, Tyler and Cody Gardner, Ryder Frieda, Kali Campbell, Tyler, Diego and Alexis; and favorite nieces, Lea Brogan (David), their son Scott and Lynn Derrick, and her son, Cody. Her parents; husband, Robert Frieda; sister, Kay Irwin (Scott); grandson, Clifford Schnell; and her nephew, Stephen Austin; all precede her in passing. There will be a Memorial service to celebrate her life, at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at First United Methodist Church, Longview, Texas. All are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation, following the service in the Cook Foyer. We do not say goodbye, rather until we meet again, by God‘s loving grace. You will live in our hearts and our minds forever. We celebrate knowing you have no more pain, and you reside in paradise with our Heavenly Father. The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to Virginia Rodriguez, for 17 years of friendship and caring, Taffi Crawford for the wonderful care for the last year, and Rose Hudgens, Donna Payne, Carla Jones and Beverly Chisnall.
