Mrs. Patsy Ramirez passed away in Matagorda General Hospital on March 11. A resident of Bay City, she was 52 years of age. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 16, 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. The Rev. Richard Jeffery will officiate, and interment will be in Cedarvale Cemetery.
Mrs. Ramirez is survived by her husband, Crispin Ramirez of Bay City; mother, Mrs. Thomasa Gonzales of Corpus Christi; and two sons, Jimmy Colungo of California and Lorenzo Ramirez of Bay City; also, a sister, Mrs. Jacinto Reolda of Corpus Christi; and two brothers, Lupe Gonzales of Corpus Christi, and Tino Gonzales of California. Evangelina “Quela” Ramos, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014. She was born August 8, 1933, in Mission, Texas, to the late Roman and Dolores Vega Villarreal. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing bingo with her friends. When she had the opportunity she loved being outside gardening. Manuel Ramos Manuel Ramos, Sr., 93, of Wadsworth passed away May 4, 2023. He was born September 7, 1929 in Fannin, Texas to the late Mike Ramos and Dolores Garza Ramos. He served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and continued to serve our country as commander of the Bay City American Legion Post 11 for several years. Apart from doing construction and carpenter work, he worked for the Texas Highway Dept. for 10 years and for LCRA for 17 years before retiring. When he had the opportunity he enjoyed playing the guitar, singing and entertaining others. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Evangelina V. Ramos, his son Manuel Ramos, Jr.. And as the youngest of 12 siblings, he is also preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters. Survivors include daughters Sylvia Ramos and Margarita Ramos; sons Oscar Ramos (America) and Marc Anthony Ramos; grandchildren Monica Ramos, Karizma Alvarado and Manuel Isaiah Ramos and great grandson Adrian Ray Gonzales. Rita Lee Rawlings (née Fraley) passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at her home in Matagorda, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Rita lived a life of faith, love, compassion, generosity and community service. She is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, John Rawlings; father, Robert Fraley; stepmother, Joyce Fraley; sisters, Bobbi Isbell and Debbie Fraley; daughters, Brittany (Nicolas) Acosta and Kellye Koonce; grandchildren, Lucas and Luisa Acosta; step-children, John Rawlings, Jr., Steven Rawlings and Angela (Greg) Baker; along with numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and great-nieces. Rita is preceded in death by her mother, Nila Louise Fraley. Born on November 2, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, to Robert and Louise Fraley, she grew up in a loving family with her sisters, Bobbi and Debbie, in Ohio and California. Rita attended Abilene Christian University, graduating with a degree in business management, and was the Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools of Matagorda Independent School District. She was an active member of Nichols Street Church of Christ. Rita Lee is remembered for her sweetness, warmth, unflappable optimism, off-beat sense of humor, and the way she delighted in giving bizarre knick-knacks as gifts. She was devoted to her family and friends. Diagnosed with advanced lung cancer in 2010, she bravely fought the disease for nearly five years. Even during her illness, she continued to be an unwavering source of strength for her family, friends and community, and was able to hold her five-day old granddaughter, Luisa, one week before she passed. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Nichols Street Church of Christ, 1200 Nichols Street, Bay City, Texas 77414. Services will be at 4 p.m., followed by a reception. All are welcome. Funeral services for Jo Ann Reicks, 81, of Palacios will be held on April 24 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Palacios. A Rosary will be led by the Catholic Daughters at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. A lunch will be provided by The Catholic Daughters.
Jo Ann was born on a farm in Greene County, Iowa in 1934, and was the youngest of eight children and she died at MD Anderson hospital on March 30, 2015, after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
She married William J. Reicks in 1955. They had four children, Becky, Bill, Chris and Michele. Jo Ann and Bill lived mostly in Orlando, Florida and Houston, Texas while raising their children. Once the children were grown, Bill took a job with Aramco in 1981 and they moved to Saudi Arabia for eight years and then to Ottawa, Canada for two years.
Once Bill retired from Aramco, they chose to live on their sailboat for several years, moving from place to place on the Gulf coast, the east coast, the Caribbean, and finally settling in Palacios, Texas in 2000 at the Serendipity Marina.
They eventually bought a house, and later Bill built another house on their property, where Jo Ann lived the rest of her life.
Jo Ann was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, and was a member of Our Lady of the Sea, a court of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was an amazing cook and loved to bake. She often brought her goodies to the church functions.
Jo Ann is survived by her husband Bill, her sister Ruth Fowble, her four children, eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Joyce Rennoldson, 63, of Markham, Texas, died in a car accident on October 7, 2014. She was born June 9, 1951, in Indiana, to the late Albert and Helen Micklos. She was a rural mail carrier for the El Campo Post Office and was a volunteer fireman and EMT with the Midfield Fire Dept. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Rennoldson of Markham; and brother, Lawrence Micklos of Illinois. Alma Ellen Rexroad, better known to her friends as “Ellen” and to her grandchildren as “Nanny”, passed away on February 28, 2015. Cecil Royce Ringo of Brazoria passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014. He was born on May 17, 1951, to Alvin Elisha Ringo and Sylvia Bell Ringo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Athaleen Hall, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his sons, James Ringo of Clute, Jason Ringo of Lake Jackson and Brett Ringo of Palacios; sisters Oveta Vollbaum, Melvina Welsh & husband Jimmie of Brazoria, and Patsy Langlinais & husband Harold of Angleton; brothers Marvin Ringo & wife Darlene, and Larry Ringo & wife Patricia of Brazoria; grandchildren James Allen Ringo, Lyndsey Ringo, Lacie Ringo, Gaven Ringo and Malaki Ringo. Cecil was born in San Saba, Texas but spent his school age years in Palacios, Texas, graduating from Palacios High School prior to moving to Brazoria County in the early 70’s. He worked primary in the construction field for various l! ocal contractors and was employed by Matula & Matula at the time of his death. Vim X Rye passed away on January 31, 2015, in Bay City, TX, at age 91. His family will cherish his legacy as a devoted spouse, a sweet and loving father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. His friends will remember a dignified, hard-working, fun-loving colleague, who was always kind, generous and hospitable. Vim X was born in Russellville, AR, in 1923. He served in the United States Army Air Corps and was a graduate of the University of Arkansas. He was a spirited, life-long alumnus, and his Sigma Nu fraternity brothers are among his most cherished extended family. Vim X married Barbara Carr in 1950, and together they operated Tetts Jewelers in Bay City, TX, for more than 30 years. He was a long-time member of Texas Retailers Association and Texas Jewelers Association. Vim X was a 32nd degree, life member of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the American Legion, and past president of the Bay City Chamber of Commerce, Bay City Lions Club and Bay City Country Club. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bay City. Vim X and Barbara, who preceded him in death, have two children, Vicki Rye Head and husband Wayne, and Debbi Rye. His wife, Marian Wilks Rye, survives him. Vim X and Marian, were married in 1987, and blended their families to include Katy Kalk Bohuslav and husband Thomas, of Austin, TX, and Kris Kalk and wife Emily, of Richmond, TX. Vim X was a proud grandfather to Ken Head and wife Sarah, of Sugar Land, TX; Vim X Head and wife Sarah, of Katy, TX; Kirk Head and wife Renee, of Cypress, TX; Ronald Lee Northcutt and wife Brooke, of Austin, TX; and Jennifer Rye South and husband Mike, of Jacksonville, FL; Michael, Will and Jack Bohuslav, of Austin, TX; and Sidney and Mason Kalk, of Richmond, TX. Vim X is survived by 13 great-grandchildren. Vim X would be honored by gifts in his memory, to the Bay City Public Library, 1100 7th Street, Bay City, TX 77414. There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, February 21, 2015, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Bay City Country Club.
