Geneva Agnes Dabelgott Rader
December 14, 1954 - April 10, 2019

Geneva Agnes Dabelgott Rader, 64, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 10, 2019. She was born on December 14, 1954 in Bay City, Texas to Allen Earl and Ernestine Mae Dabelgott.

Geneva was a graduate of Tidehaven High School, Class of 1973, where she had many accolades but most notably was crowned Miss THS and earned membership to the National Honor Society, Band Sweetheart and Basketball All-District and Outstanding Player.  She was proud to be a Tidehaven Tiger alumnus. Many know Geneva in the banking industry as a hard worker dedicated to her customers.  She started as a bank teller and quickly worked her way up to a Regional Manager, then later earned her license to be a Financial Advisor.  After 40 years in the financial industry, Geneva hung up her heels and put on her boots to spend time in God’s Country. She has been a proud resident of Sweeny, Texas and a devoted member of The First United Methodist Church of Sweeny.

Geneva was active in the community for many years.  She was a member of Bay City Chamber of Commerce, Bay City Rotary Club, Catholic Daughters of America, Brazosport Chamber of Commerce, Angleton Chamber of Commerce, and the Christian Women’s Club, she was always involved in her community’s economic status and religious devotion.  She also served on the Dow Chemical Community Advisory Panel and the American Heart Association Red Dress Luncheon Committee, chaired National Day of Prayer for several years, and co-chaired the Business Network Group.

As much as Geneva succeeded in her career and participated in the community, she always put her family first and knew how to let loose, cut a rug and loved deeply.  Every year she hosted family holidays and made sure that the aunts, uncles and cousins all developed bonds to last their lifetime.  She enjoyed attending church and Bible study and made it a point to thank our Lord and Savior for everyday He gave her on this earth.  Geneva also had many friends whom she cherished genuinely and enjoyed getting together with her Sweet Potato Queens and The Fab Five.

Geneva’s keen hunting skills won her the Texas Big Game Award in 2017 for her high fenced typical white tail deer in Live Oak County.  She loved spending time on the ranches, immensely enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, and took pride in growing her plants and cultivating her flower beds. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and “GiGi” cherished every minute with them.  Before her grandchildren were born, GiGi was the best “Aunt Nevie” to all of her nieces and nephews and later to her great nieces and nephews.  Geneva had a unique way of making people feel special and building them up. She will be missed by many.

Geneva is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Mae Nauman and Ashlee Nauman Pitta Lima Rubbo (husband Joe) and their father, Brad Nauman, who was by her side during her battle with colon cancer all the way through her last breath; along with sisters, Barbara Freiley (husband J.B.), Irene Benefield (husband Curtis J.), Mary Jane Dabelgott; sister-in-law, Terry Dabelgott; and her grandchildren, Luke Antonio Nauman Pitta Lima, Ava Saree Nauman, Devon, Taylor and Danielle Rubbo, Betty Pitta Lima and Ashland Young.  Extended but close at heart family members include, Daniel Young, Nalene Nauman, Barry and Rita Nauman, Carol and Garvin Suggs, and all of her loving nieces and nephews.

Geneva is preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Ernestine Dabelgott; brother, Daniel Alan Dabelgott, Rick Rader and Mike Richardson.

The family would like to give special thanks and express their sincerest gratitude to Geneva’s friend, Donna Charleton, for her tireless loving care of Geneva and her daughters during this difficult time.  Additionally, extreme gratitude to Deborah Thelen, Mary Orr, Margaret Winkle, Carol Suggs, Gayla Neel, Robyn Cochran, the ladies from her Monday night Bible study and all of her brothers and sisters in Christ for their support and nourishment of her faith on this journey.  To all of our family and friends that have reached out with a helping hand, supportive messages and calls, sent cards, stopped by to see our beloved Geneva in her final days and prayed relentlessly, the family sends deep appreciation to all.
