Georgianna Posey

In the death of little Georgianna Posey, only child of Mr. and Mrs. George Posey, on December 18 in Houston, we find emphasized the fact that life leaves stern impress upon the souls of men at times, snatching from them those they love the best—those that are most worth while.

From the time of her birth on July 21, 1922 at Bay city Georgianna endeared herself to the extensive friendships of the Austin-Posey families in Matagorda and Harris counties, growing each day into a fuller expression of lovely, happy childhood. Through her gentleness and beautiful personality there were woven into the lives of her parents and friends rare colors of companionship, tenderness and joy, building for high ambitions for her future and her welfare. In their stead must now come the brilliance of tender memories of a life made sweet for the betterment of those who know her, bringing a deep sense of gratitude that they were privileged to have had her even for a little while. Surely, such contemplation will make easier the way for these young parents who must go on without her loveliness and her smile.

Funeral services were held from St. Mark’s Church, where the beloved little girl, had been a definite part of parish activities, particularly in the church school. Here a host of friends came to pay tribute to the friendliness and charm of this little child who had throughout her life brought so much joy to all about her. And here, too, a solid bank of exquisite flowers typified the beauty of her childhood, giving promise as it were that the little life so rarely lived here must go on from strength to strength into a fuller life—a light to guide into a clearer understanding and to peace.

Attending the services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Posey, Crockett, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Banks and son, Richard of Houston; Mr. and Mrs. M. V. Schill, Dallas; Mr. and Mrs. E. Z. Serrill, Newguilf; Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Higginbotham, Mrs. and Miss Pollan, Doctor Percy Sloan and Mrs. John Sloan, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Tompkins, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Cookenboo, Miss Nell Fitzmaurice and J. M. Fitzmaurice, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Davant, Miss Marie Jahnke, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Whistler, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. McKinsey, Walter G. Sterling, V. E. Davis, Mrs. J. Fuller, Mrs. Bessie Watkins, Mrs. J. A. Alpha and Miss Dunbeck, all of Houston; Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Walker of Markham and Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Leech of Newgulf.
