Maggie L. O’Bannon Services will be held for Maggie L. O’Bannon, 89, of Sweeny on June 25 at 9:30 am at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. B. J. Sparks. O’Bannon died June 23 at the home of her daughter in West Columbia. Survivors include her daughter Mrs. H. W. (Lurline) Pool of West Columbia; her sons J. T. Reeves of Bay City and M. G. Reeves of Sweeny; daughters-in-law Helen Reeves and Edwina Reeves of Bay City and Faye Reeves of Sweeny; sisters Mrs. G. I. Sewell and Mrs. Tinnie Sewell of Sweeny; brothers Joe Richardson of Sweeny and Bob Richardson of Victoria; Grandchildren Jeanette Butler, Charles Pool, Jimmy and Jerry Reeves, Mary Jane Yelderman and Donna Hales; and her great-grandchildren Britten, James and Earnest Sewell, and Morris, Joyce and Garland Richardson. Burial will follow services at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Faye Jeanette Austin (O’Dell) was born January 22, 1944 and passed away May 27, 2014 after long, brave battle with breast cancer. She never let it get the best of her. Faye was born to mother, Melvin Austin and father, Eddie Austin in Bay City Texas. She moved to Oakland, California in 1959. She attended Junior High School at Woodrow Wilson and graduated in 1962 from Oakland Technical High School. She graduated with a degree in Hospital Administration from Alameda College and Santa Clara University. She is survived by sisters, Cleora Boone of Texas; and Lois Hill of Vallejo, California. Her family included nieces and nephews, Ricky Austin, Andrea Moore, Nathaniel Moore, Jacqueline Moore and Gregory Moore of Texas. Also nieces and nephews, Monique Mestayer, Yvette Goodman, Sonya Cross and Nicole Cross. Faye also leaves behind many loving great-nieces, nephews and a host of cousins. Faye was preceded in death by both parents; step-parents; and nephews, Ollie Moore Jr. and Darryl Cross. At Faye’s request, no services will be held.

Candelario Oros Sr. Funeral services for Candelario Oros Sr., 63, of Bay City will be held 3:30 pm Thursday at the Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Macalica, Brother Valdez and Brother Richard Perales officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck. Mr. Oros was born Feb 2, 1928, and died Sept. 24, 1991, at Matagorda General Hospital. A resident of Bay City for 22 years, he was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Survivors include his wife, Eliaz B. Oros of Bay City; two daughters, Esmaralda Garay and Yolonda Zamora both of Bay City; five sons, Candelario Oros Jr., Jessie Oros, Joe Oros, Fred Oros and David Oros, all of Bay City; two sisters, Maria Oros and Anita Oros, both of Bay City; three brothers, Santiago Oros Sr., Sebastian Oros and Juan Oros Sr., all of Bay City, 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Petra Oros, who died in 1989, and a brother, Jessie Oros, who died in 1967. Arrangements were made with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Emil J. Ottis Funeral services for Emil J. Ottis, 88, of Bay City will be held 10 am Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Monsignor James Brunner, the Rev. Charles Sonnier and the Rev. Ed Mundwiller officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck. A rosary will be held 7 pm today at the Knights of Columbus Hall followed by a family and friends Christian wake service at 7:30 pm at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Otis was born July 1, 1900, in Okarche, Okla., to John Henry and Anna Ottis and died Sept. 3, 1988, at Matagorda House, Bay City. Mr. Ottis resided in Wadsworth from 1910 until 1959 when he moved to Bay City. He was a retired rice farmer. He was active of both 3rd and 4th degree the Knights of Columbus and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church Survivors include his wife, Nellie Fief Ottis of Bay City; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert R. and Phyllis Ancona Ottis of Houston; two sisters, Helen Lundin of Port Lavaca and Eileen Gassen of Hearne, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law Tom M. and Ella Ottis of Bay City, Matt K. and Lucille Ottis of Wadsworth, Katherine Ottis of Bay City and Minnie Ottis of Wadsworth; five grandchildren, Emil J. Frank M. Ottis Wadsworth resident Frank M. Ottis, 67, expired Wednesday in St. Joseph’s Hospital of Houston and funeral services were held Friday morning, with requiem mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church. A resident of Matagorda County since 1910, Ottis was a native of Oklahoma. He was a retired rice farmer, member of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Assembly No. 803 of Houston, and the Third Degree Council No. 3070 in Bay City. Rev. C. J. Martin officiated, and burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Taylor Brothers. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. John Rother of Bay City, Mrs. Pat Lundin of Port Lavaca and Mrs. George Gassen of Hearne; six brothers, Matt, Tom, Fred and John of Wadsworth, Emil of Bay City and John of Okarche, Okla. Molly Lockwood Ottis, wife of the deceased, preceded him in death in 1958. Pall bearers were Tom Huston, Charles Ottis, G. P. Bennie Erven Owen, 77, of Bay City passed away March 11, 2014. He was born November 21, 1936 in Iago, Texas to the late Harvey Ray Owen and Myrtle Anne Prukop Owen. Bennie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a fourth generation farmer. He is survived by his wife Shirley Owen; daughter Sarah Webster and husband Wade; sons Troy Owen, Frankie Owen and fiance Sarah Walsh, all of Bay City; sisters Betty Grammer of Spring, TX and Virginia Smith of Yellow Pine, TX and grandchildren Ashton Owen, Austin Webster, Larissa Webster, Jaslyn Webster, Seith Owen and Gage Owen, Spencer & Hannah Walsh.
