James Leonard “Jim” Mangold, 78, of Seguin, Texas passed away June 8, 2025. He was born December 2, 1946 in Aberdeen, WA to the late Wendelin Joseph Mangold and Nellie Jane Stout Mangold. Along with all of his personal accomplishments, he was most proud of his time in the United States Coast Guard. He served for 20 years and retired at the age of 39, as a CWO 4. He loved his time in service almost as much as he loved his family. We shared 58 years of marriage and raised 3 great sons, who have raised and are raising grandchildren and great-grandchildren for us to enjoy. These last few long months came with severe challenges and he met them all with a positive outlook because he would tell you he had “grandkids to watch grow up”. As his wife, he was my rock. I'm sure there were times he wondered about some of my decisions, but his support was always there. Everyone who met him loved and respected him. They understood his crazy nickname “Goofy”. We honored our marriage vows “Till death do us part” to the letter. He is and will be missed forever Survivors include his wife Linda Ford Mangold; sons Thomas Joseph Mangold, Michael Victor Mangold (Sherrie) and Jason Adam Mangold (Andrea); sisters Dolores Buckingham, Joanne Wilson (Bill) and Patricia Chaplin; brother Edward Mangold (Sylvia); grandchildren Mekenzie Rosen (Jared), Ashley Mangold, Ashton Mangold, Wyatt Mangold (Courtney), Colton Mangold and Ty Mangold and great granddaughter Kaci Lynn Mangold. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, Texas. Daryl Scott Maxwell, age 61, of La Porte, TX, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2025. Born on May 6, 1963, in Amite, Louisiana, Scott lived a life full of passion, creativity, laughter, and love. He graduated from Palacios High School in Palacios, TX and went on to attend Louisiana Christian University in Pineville, LA, and Angelina College in Lufkin, TX. Scott retired as an Independent Sales Representative from Associated Packaging, where he worked for many years. An avid sportsman, Scott enjoyed all kinds of competition—from softball and volleyball to golf, ping pong, and poker—but fishing was his greatest passion. It wasn’t just a hobby; it was a way of life. As a fishing guide, he spent countless hours on the water, teaching others how to fish and gig flounder. He loved helping people catch their first fish, sharing his knowledge, and building genuine friendships along the way. The water was his favorite place to be, and he found peace, joy, and purpose there more than anywhere else. A man of many talents and passions, Scott had an eye for beauty and design, which he expressed through his company, Sunset Plantation, where he designed and built stunning waterfront homes. He truly lived for the serenity of sunsets over the water. Scott also had a deep love for cooking, and feeding others was one of his favorite ways to show love. Whether he was serving up his famous flounder, BBQ crabs, chicken and dumplings, or a big pot of gumbo, he poured his heart into every dish. His kitchen was a place of laughter, storytelling, and connection—where everyone felt like family and no one ever left hungry. Music was in his soul. Born into a musical family, Scott was gifted with a voice that brought joy to many. Known as the "Tiki Island Music Man," he loved entertaining at restaurants and numerous venues, always happiest when he could make people smile through song. Some of his most meaningful moments were spent singing gospel music—a reflection of his strong faith and love for the Lord. Scott’s love for the Lord was deeply personal and unwavering. His faith carried him through life’s challenges and gave him the strength to keep going. It grounded him, comforted him, and guided the way he loved and cared for others. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Laura Maxwell; daughter MicahShea and her husband Taylor Fenner; son Brady Maxwell; and granddaughters Kinsley and Laelynn Fenner. He also leaves behind his siblings: Jacquelyn White, Kathy Bates (husband Vernon), Larry Maxwell (wife Angela), Lydia Hyde (husband John), and Randy Maxwell (wife Julia), along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were like family. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin Leon Maxwell and Nellie Louis King. In keeping with Scott’s joyful spirit, the family will honor his life with a celebration rather than a traditional service. A gathering full of music, laughter, good food, and great memories will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Villa Capri from 5–9 p.m. —just the way he would have wanted.

In the community Pete was instrumental in the building of our two parish churches-Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (OLG). Many hours of work after their daily jobs and weekends were put forth by him and many other fellow parishioners. Upon retiring, Pete continued to help his wife and the alter ladies with their tasks at OLG. He also served as an usher at church for several years. Pete served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a very proud veteran. Pete was a quiet man, full of untold history and experiences. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gudelia Mendiola and other family members: Margarito Mendiola, Jose Mendiola, Juan Mendiola, and numerous nephews and nieces. With heavy hearts, we remember Phillip Damian Morales, of Richmond, Texas, who passed from this earthly pilgrimage on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the age of 50 years old on the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul. Phillip was born to Roosevelt and Theresa Morales in downtown Houston, Texas on October 30, 1974 at St. Joseph Hospital, the third eldest of eleven children. Phillip graduated from Palacios High School in 1993 and furthered his studies at Texas A&M University, then completed a degree from the Art Institute of Houston. Phillip met his future bride Alyssa in high school, and he knew he would marry her one day. On June 30, 2007, Phillip joyfully entered into the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony with Alyssa (nee Lopez), the love of his life, and they relished in almost 18 years of unwavering love, fulfilling their dreams and creating a beautiful life together modeled after the Holy Family. By age five, Phillip’s artistic talents became apparent, and he developed into an artist, singer, musician and athlete during different stages of his life. As an adult, he focused on his God-given artistic abilities for a profession, becoming a 2D/3D artist, Creative Director, President and CEO of his own company Orb Interactive and Co-Founder of Superjump Games. Phillip loved creating video games, drawing religious and personal art for himself and others, writing film scripts with his brother, and helping his children cultivate their artistic abilities inherited from their father. Phillip was a family man in every sense of the word. He loved working hard to provide for his family and doing things with his children that they loved to do, along with forming them spiritually because he knew time on earth was not our eternal home and desired Heaven for himself and for his family. He loved relaxing by the water in Palacios with his wife and children, watching movies and sports with his family and siblings, always bringing joy and laughter to those around him with his fun, mischievous and irreplaceable sense of humor, and being a source of encouragement, warmth and kindness to everyone he knew and crossed paths with. Phillip’s loved ones were blessed with a second chance with him after he suffered an aortic dissection in 2015. This experience changed Phillip, and he profoundly deepened his faith and love for God, leading him to consecrate himself to Jesus through Mary, pray the rosary with his family, and foster a great devotion to St. Joseph and St. Maria Goretti, the young Saint who interceded for his physical healing from the dissection. Phillip taught high school religious education for many years at the parishes that he, his wife and children attended, and he also had a special devotion to St. Michael the Archangel, even as a young man. He is preceded in death by his mother Theresa Ramirez Morales; his grandparents Josephine Ybarra Morales, Ignacio and Ophelia Ramirez, and his nephew Nicolas Gonzales. Our handsome Phillip was deeply loved by his family, friends, and colleagues and will be missed forever, most especially by his beloved wife, Alyssa, who he treasured with his whole heart and was so proud to call his wife, and by his precious children, Brendan Matthew, Miryn Alexandra, Cade Maximilian, Cruz Xavier, and Cash Kolbé, whom he lovingly committed his life to and will always be with. He also is held close in the hearts of his father Roosevelt Morales and siblings, Roosevelt Sean, Marie Claudine (Carlos Aguirre), Michael Dominic (Lisa), Mark Vincent (Marta), James Stephen, Joshua Paul (Maria), Elizabeth Anne, Kathryn Alicia (Nick Flores), Timothy Daniel (Leslie), and Joseph Xavier and parent-in-laws Theresa and Anthony Pardo, and in-laws, Lorraine (Andrew) Page, Zachary (Jennifer) Lopez, and Isaac Lopez. A visitation for Phillip will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. Deborah (Debbie) Louise Schneider Murray, 74, of Palacios, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in her home, surrounded by family and her beloved dog Jax. She was born in Palacios, Texas in the original Wagner General Hospital on May 21, 1950, to the late Louis Willie Schneider Sr. and Birdie Neldine Spoor Schneider. Debbie worked at Palacios Independent School District for 32 years as an Instructional Assistant and bus driver, retiring in 2015. After retirement, Mom cared for Chandler, the youngest grandchild until he started school. During her years as a bus driver, Mom dearly loved her bus route children who rode her buses, routes 3A and 4A. It would not be uncommon for mom to stop her route to let her kids save a kitten or two, rescue a dog, let ducks cross the road, or even allow a few of her kids to salvage a rattlesnake skin. Yes, those were the days when kids rode in glory to save animals and be loved. One of the best memories from route 3A is when mom, saved a kitten, brought it back to the bus barn, and handed it to Mr. Rutledge and told him here is your new cat. Mr. Rutledge fell in love with the kitten and loved it for years. Mom's love for animals did not just occur on the bus route, she also served as the Vice President for Palacios Pet Pals for fifteen years, rescuing countless dogs, rehabilitating them, and placing them in forever homes. Mom has left a lasting impression on many with her fearless love for animals. To name a few, Trucker, a little Jack Russell, was adopted and rode with his best friend across the country for his lifetime. Mom and a close friend saved Maxwell and placed him in Robyn's loving home for 16 years. In addition, Mom saved Miss Muffet and placed her in Deana's loving arms for 10 years. There are countless stories of how mom placed the right dog with the best family across the country. We all have fond memories of Mom bringing joy to all with her love for animals. Mom was fiercely loved by many friends, who all shared that she was calm and would be there at a moment's notice to support her with anything. Nothing was too small for Mom. It would not be uncommon to find mom baking for those she loved, helping them through their struggles, or just being the friend they needed at the right time. June 11, 1988, Mom married the love of her life, Michael "Mike" Murray. They spent nearly 37 years in marriage and it was evident the profound love she had for Mike. Mike was her true north, her comfort, and peace. Mike and Mom raised a blended family of 4 children to be successful adults who share a passion for animals and family. Survivors include her devoted husband Michael Murray; daughters of Palacios, TX Deana Earnhardt (James) and Robyn Malone-Koch (John); sons Jayson Malone (Mona) Fountain Hills, AZ, and Robbie Murray (Kristi) Hot Springs, AR. Brothers, Roger Schneider (Freda), Jeffrey McGallion, and Wayne Bradshaw. Eleven grandchildren, Shellsea Norman (Jay), Kaelann Earnhardt, Khiley Earnhardt, Connor Koch, Chandler Koch, Blake Delano (Holly), Harley Malone (Briseida), Austin Malone, Tommy Windsor, Mason Murray, and Jasmin Rodriguez (Chris). In addition, nine great-grandchildren, Lily Norman, Jett Norman, Vance Norman, Lane Delano, Lilli Delano, Lathan Delano, Madelyn Malone, Lexi Malone, and Elias Rodriguez. Preceded in death, parents Louis Willie Schneider Sr. and Birdie Neldine Spoor Schneider; son Sherman Malone, and brother Louis Willie "Butch" Schneider Jr. Pallbearers are Kaelann Earnhardt, James Earnhardt, John Koch, Robbie Murray, Gaven Schneider, and Derin Schneider. On behalf of the family, we would like to thank the countless friends who have supported the family during this time, Angels Care Home Health (Tami Vacek), and Angels Care Hospice (Jessica B., Hannah, Alex, June, Jennifer, Brenda, Andrea, Cathy, Cassandra, Carrie, Steve) for their extraordinary compassionate care that uplifted us all. A special thank you to Freda Schneider for her compassionate care, love, and devotion, which brought comfort to both Debbie and her family during this time. Debbie’s love, generosity, and unwavering spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched. Though she is no longer with us in body, her warmth and kindness will forever be felt in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, March 17, 2025 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas.
