Tinkie enjoyed quilting and sewing, reading, and watching the Spurs play basketball. Her passion in life was working and mentoring teenage girls. Before settling in North Richland Hills, Tinkie also lived in Wichita Falls, Markham, Kerrville, Canyon Lake, and Red River, NM. She loved the Lord, attending church, and singing in the choir. She loved her church family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. Most of all, she loved being with her family and friends. She leaves behind a great legacy to so many and will be dearly missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her children, Larry Maroney and his wife, Joyce; Randy Maroney and his wife, Sandi, Mark Maroney and his wife, Jeanette, Brad Maroney, and Jill Jackson and her husband, Billy; her grandchildren, Jason and Tracey Maroney, Judd and Sissy Maroney, Michael Maroney, Ben and Heather Maroney, John Mark and Angela Maroney, Jana and Michael Plemons, Justin and Jenica Maroney, Stephanie Embree, and Chase Embree; her great grandchildren, Dave, Tucker, Jackson, Parker, Cash, Charlotte (Charlie), Grant, Jake, Brock, Campbell, Claire, Carlee, Nolan and Blakely; she is also survived by many nephews, nieces, brothers and sister-in-law’s, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Beulah Vessels; her three brothers, Clinton, William Clay, and Claude Vessels, Jr.; and finally, but certainly not least, her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 58 years, Harold Maroney. Services for Tinkie will be held at a later date. David Perez Martinez, Sr., 71, of Bay City passed away August 5, 2020. He was born July 22, 1949 in Bay City to the late Joaquin Martinez and Amelia Perez Martinez. Mr. Martinez was employed at STP for several years, but spent the majority of his career employed by Hlavinka Equipment, from where he eventually retired. He was well-known throughout the Matagorda County agricultural community for his generosity and ready smile. It is within his family where David will be most deeply missed. He was a sweet and kind man who devoted his time to traveling with his beloved Helen to various activities and events for his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Papo”. An enormous extended family will also mourn David’s passing, as will his parish, where he worshipped his Savior in the Catholic faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Cipriano and Matilda Perez, a sister, Rosa Martinez, and a brother, Marcelino Martinez. Survivors include his devoted wife of 47 years, Mary Helen Martinez; daughters Michelle Carrillo (Darrell), Angelica Martinez and Rosanne Martinez; son David P. Martinez, Jr. (Andrea); sisters Mary Jane Montalvo, Alicia Guzman (Richard), Petra Martinez, Pauline Martinez and Tammy Martinez; brothers Patricio Martinez, Sr., Joaquin Martinez (Elena), Jerry Martinez (Linda) and Jack Martinez and grandchildren Darrell Kyle Carrillo, Abigail Carrillo, Layla Carrillo, Matthew David Martinez, Isabella Martinez and David P. Martinez III. A loving family friend Charity Gonzales and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends are also left behind to remember him fondly. Bobby Lou MaupinBobby Lou Maupin of Blessing, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020. She was 78. Born in 1941 in Salem, Arkansas to Iris and Nell (Clayton) Everett, Bobby saw great changes during her life. She initially attended a one-room school and remembered vividly the day her childhood home was connected to the electrical grid. Bobby graduated from Salem High School in 1958 and then earned a bachelor’s degree from Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas. She married Ralph Maupin in 1964. They were married for 30 years before he passed away in 1994. Bobby was a high school teacher, teaching in both Arkansas and Texas. Initially teaching typing, shorthand, and accounting, she kept current, later adding computer applications into the mix. She retired from Tidehaven I. S. D. in El Maton, Texas with more than 30 years of teaching experience. Bobby was loving and fiercely devoted to her family, friends, and students. She was full of jokes and smiles and a sense of adventure, keeping everyone around her on their toes. She loved to play cards and board games, to read, to cook, to watch sports, and in earlier years, to travel. Bobby was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Ralph Maupin. She is survived by daughter, Laura Maupin; son-in-law, Michael Redman; sister-in-law, Ann Ezell; nieces and nephews; devoted cousins and friends across the country; and countless former students. William F. Maurer, 70, of Bay City, Texas, went home to be with the Lord the morning of April 1, 2020. He was born December 26, 1949 to the late Charles A. Maurer, and Mary Helen Fitzstephens. Bill went to Holy Cross Elementary School and Bay City Junior High, where he was active in the Boy scouts. He graduated from Bay City High School in 1968. There, he was active in the band, playing the trumpet, as well as the track team, acting as the team captain in his senior year. According to classmate Robert Quintanilla, Bill along with Enoch Morgan, Ray Bratcher and Donnie Rogers set a record in the Team 880 Medley Relay that remains unbroken today. He graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1972 with at BA in history and taught high school in the Houston area for a short time before completing optician certification at Tyler College in 1975. While living in the Tyler area, he enjoyed lifting weights and riding motorcycles with friends. He worked as an optician for many years before returning to Bay City to care for his parents during their declining years. Once he returned to Bay City, he became active in the Knights of Columbus, as well as playing the trumpet in the Bay City Community band. After his parents passing, he worked for 10 years in grounds - keeping/maintenance at Holy Cross Catholic Church before retiring. During his declining years, Bill received a great deal of support from friends Dotty Grandstaff and Keith Hatton. Bill is survived by his sister, Mary Stefan, of Phoenix, Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Helen Maurer. Due to current global circumstances, memorial services will be held at a later date in Bay City, Texas. Internment will be at White Rose Cemetery in Bartlesville OK.

Johnnie Medina Sr., age 67, of Markham, TX passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020 with loved ones by his side. Johnnie was born November 29, 1952, in Matagorda County to Gabriel and Francisca Medina. He was a very hard working man that loved his family. He also loved the outdoors and a nice cold beer. Johnnie is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Melinda and Joanna, brother Gabriel and by the love of his life Addie Mae Swallers. He is survived by his four sons, Thomas (Jodi) Medina, Johnnie (Rachel) Medina, Victor and Andres Mercado; two daughters Deborah Medina and Angela Presswood; two brothers Earnest and Pedro Medina; two sisters Christina and Rosa; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and his beloved dog Baby. There will be no official funeral services held, but family will have a memorial dinner at a later date.

Funeral services for Michael John Mejares, 29, of Bay City were scheduled for 10 am today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Edward Boren officiating. Burial was to be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Mr. Mejares was born Aug. 9, 1963 in Corpus Christi to Juan and Marie Flores Mejares and died Feb. 5, 1993 at his home. He was a member of the Catholic church, a resident of Bay City for eight years and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3070 in Bay City. Survivors include his wife, Terisa F Mejares of Bay City; two daughters, Mary Jane Figerova and Monica Renee’ Mejares, both of Bay City; a son, Michael John Mejares Jr. of Bay City; seven sisters, Terry Mejares, Joyce Mejares, Devera Mejares, Janice Garcia, Nancy Darby, Jocye Salas and Lisa Ocho, all of Corpus Christi, and seven brothers, John Anthony Mejares, Julio Tonnacho, James Tonnacho, Johnaton Mejares, Nate Rowland, Paul Rowland and Richer Rowland, all of Corpus Christi. Bradley Kenyon Merwin, 66, of Sargent, Texas, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020. He was born October 10, 1953 in Harris County. Known by all that loved him as Brad or occasionally Brushy Brad. He had a mustache, that for the majority of his life, many men envied and women ogled. It was his pride and joy. The only thing bigger than that mustache was his heart. He volunteered most of his time to Serve Outdoors and Hunts for Hero’s. When he wasn’t volunteering his time, he was participating in most every charity event or auction he could find. Among other things, Brad was an avid and committed hunter, fisherman, carpenter, cook, son, father, papa, husband and friend. He will be loved and missed by all of us who had the honor to know him. Bradley is preceded in death by his parents, Leland Merwin and Betty Jo Merwin; his sister Marsha Merwin; and son Lyle Merwin. He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Lynn Merwin, sibling honorary brother Wild Bill Smith; children Scott Merwin, Cimarron Merwin, Kevin Conner, Douglas Strother, and Chelsea Remmers; grandchildren Jackson, Ellie, Mackenzie, Caleigh, Kolby, Dakotah, Hayden, Trinitee, David, Ryan, Brandon and Jason. Funeral services were held Friday from the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Bay City for Mrs. Margaret Willis Millican. Mrs. Millican passed away Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. L. Robison, 1316 West Sixth Street, Bay City. The Rev. Robert Johnson officiated at the services. Burial was in Cedarvale Cemetery, with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Millican was a resident of Bay City for 42 years. She was a member of the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and of the Bay City Chapter of the Order of Eastern Stars. Mrs. L. C. Mitchell, aged 41 years, 11 months and 10 days, died at her home six miles southeast of Wadsworth yesterday morning at 11:40. She is survived by: her husband; four boys, W. J. Alan Chris Mock, 68, of Brazoria, Texas passed away April 27, 2020 in Houston, Texas. He was born March 15, 1952 in New Gulf, Texas to Clarence and Katherine Bundick Mock. He was raised in Sargent, Texas where he was an avid water skier, fisherman and duck hunter. Chris graduated from Van Vleck High School, he spent a lot of time at the San Bernard River and Lake Travis, furthering his love to be near the water. He loved to watch football – especially his “Dallas Cowboys!” He never stopped talking about the many great times he had with his “buddies” – Jerry Eitelbach, Ricky Miller, Ronnie Coleman and Tony Trevino. He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Mock; and his parents. C. and Sefronia Wolford Moore Sr. He moved to Victoria two months ago and was a laborer on a grass farm. Salvador L. Morales, born in Cuero, Texas, November 9th, 1933, to the late Mateo Morales and Rafela Lopez-Morales went to be with our Lord and Savior July 10, 2020. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Solia Elizalde-Morales, his parents Mateo and Rafela Morales, sister Sara Garza, and twin brother Amador. He is survived by sister Joyce Flores and husband Thomas; brother Mateo Jr. Morales; son Abel, daughter Katy and husband Frank Morales, daughter Grace and husband Raymond Gonzalez, son Michael and wife Lisa Morales, and sons Roland and Martin. Grandchildren Sean, Trey, Keith, Michael Ryan, Valerie, Kristi, Phillip, Levi, Lance, Matthew, Garrett and eleven great grandchildren. Salvador was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Bay City, Texas, and proudly served as usher and patrolled CCD classes for many years. He was a lifetime member of the G.I. Forum as well as the Knights of Columbus. Salvador also served for over 20 years on the housing authority board with lifetime friend Lamar Evans. A private service will be held for immediate family only at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, TX on the 15th of July with Fr. Gabriel Espinoza of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church officiating. One of the saddest of occurrences with which we have been confronted was in the death of Mrs. M. D. Morehead, 22-year-old wife of M. D. Morehead, at the Loos Hospital last Saturday at 10 o’clock PM. The funeral services were held yesterday (Monday) afternoon at 4 o’clock in the presence of a large concourse of sorrowing friends. Mrs. Morehead was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Fisher and was reared here. She was blessed with many close friends to whom her death will prove a great shock. She is survived by: her husband and two children to whom The Tribune offers our deepest sympathy.

Mr. Amos Morris, aged 47 years, 8 months and 2 days died at his home in this city yesterday morning at 9 o’clock after an illness of about a week. The funeral took place in Cedarvale Cemetery this afternoon at 3 o’clock. Mr. Morris was a well-known citizen of Bay City and had been employed in the Ramey barbershop for several years. He was a man of many good traits of character and had many friends who are grieved and shocked over his death. He leaves a wife and five children, four daughters and one son, with whom the entire community deeply and sincerely sympathizes.

Alfred Ramos Moya, 63, of Bay City, Texas passed away February 28, 2020. He was born August 3, 1956 in Victoria, Texas to the late Pablo Moya and Josefa Ramos Moya. Alfred was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. After his military service he spent 24 years as a Plant Operator at Philips 66, followed by 13 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service. Alfred truly enjoyed life, laughter, and good times with his family. He was most proud of his three daughters and enjoyed attending all of their special moments. He was dedicated to serving the Lord through various activities in his church and loved spending time in fellowship with his church family. William (Bill) Hargis Moye, 74, of Bay City passed away May 30, 2020. He was born November 22, 1945 in Memphis, TN to the late John M. Moye and Juanita Hargis Moye. Bill grew up in West Helena, AR. He received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arkansas. This is where he met his wife, Jean Bezucha. They were married on May 30, 1968; 52 years to the day. After marrying, Bill & Jean lived in Kemmerer, WY; Fayetteville, AR; Baltimore, MD and Richmond, VA as they moved for his career at nuclear power plants. Finally, he settled in Bay City, TX at STP. Here, they raised their two children, met special life-long friends and became very involved with the First United Methodist Church. Bill was a true Arkansas Razorback fan through and through. He could always be spotted wearing either Razorback Red or a Razorback logo to show his school pride. In addition to ‘Calling those Hogs’, he loved spending time with his family and friends, collecting Lionel trains, and traveling to Walt Disney World and National Parks. He is survived by his wife, Jean Moye; son Robert Jason Moye; daughter Jamie Lawrence and her husband Ryan; and granddaughter Paige Lawrence. Graveside services will be private. Martina Rodriguez Muniez, 77, of Boling passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 22, 2020 in a Galveston hospital following a brief illness. She was born on November 12, 1943 in Palacios Texas, the only child of Juan and Dominga DeLosSantos Rodriguez. Martina was raised in the Palacios and Corpus Christi area and attended school there. She married Antonio Muniez on December 8, 1961 in Wharton. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2012. Martina enjoyed her wordsearches, being with friends and family and loved to discipline her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children Anita Reyes and husband, Joe of Boling, Patsy Caldera and husband, Gerardo of Boling, Antonio Muniez Jr. of Bellville, John Muniez of Boling and Joe Muniez and wife, Amy of El Campo with 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. PALACIOS - On Wednesday, June 10, 2020 Hilario S. "Frank" Munoz was received into the arms of the Lord at the age of 76. He was born on September 17, 1943 in Houston to the late Louis and Paula R Melendez. He was adopted as an infant by Hilario Sr and Felipa Munoz. He married the love of his life, Matilda Perez on August 30, 1969 and made their home in Palacios. He went to work for ALCOA in 1976 gauging gas wells for Neuman Production Company. He retired in 2009 after 33 years with this company. He attended St. Anthony 's Catholic Church in Palacios where he taught CCD for quite some time. He was an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist serving the homebound. He was a member and 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus #1131. He loved the Lord, always sharing the word of God to everyone he met. Everyone he met was a friend, he never met a stranger. He selflessly helped those needing help without expecting payment in return. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, always putting family and friends first. He is survived by his wife, Matilda P. Munoz of Palacios; Daughter, Crystal Munoz (Jason) of Bloomington; Sons, Frank Allen Munoz of Palacios and Paul Munoz (Stephanie) of Sugarland; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren whom he thought the world of and would refer to them as very special gifts from God. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. His family will miss him terribly. He is preceded in death by his Parents. Visitation will begin on Monday, June 15, 2020 from 5pm to 8pm at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Palacios. A Rosary will be recited at 6pm at the Church. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 9am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10am. Burial to follow at Palacios Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Buckley, Adrian Llanes, Issach Robinson, Paul Munoz, Nico Gonzalez and Gabriel Lopez. Honorary Pallbearer is Frank Allen Munoz. A stranger, giving his name as S. P. Murphy, aged about 70 years, was found dead in his bed at the Dendy Restaurant in this city this morning. He came to this city several days ago, and being indisposed at the time, took a room and secured medical aid through the county authorities. A local physician visited him the last time early this morning, and on returning later found him dead. Letters found among his effects show that he was from Eprata, Washington. He claimed to be an ex-Confederate soldier. His body was taken to a local morgue, and an effort will be made to locate his relatives. The coroner held an inquest, and found his death was caused from natural causes.

James Robert Murry, Jr., 76, of Collegeport passed away June 24, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Jim Bob was born July 13, 1943 at Camp Forrest Tennessee Army Base to James Robert Murry, Sr. and Katie Norene Harvey Murry. Jim began elementary school in Collegeport, and graduated from Palacios High School in 1962. In 1967 he graduated from Sam Houston State University and went on to teach Industrial Arts for Brazosport Independent School District for 16 years before bringing his family back to Collegeport to farm and ranch in 1981. Jim turned his life over to the Lord at the age of 13 at Collegeport Baptist Church and loved serving Him for the rest of his life. Jim served at First Baptist Church in Palacios as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. Later he enjoyed serving with his wife at First Baptist Church in Bay City where he worked with the Jail Ministry. Throughout Jim’s adult life, he enjoyed coaching his 3 sons in Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball. Many life-long friends were made and kept through his coaching endeavors. Jim married Jean McGlothlin on January 27, 1967. To this marriage they were blessed with 3 wonderful sons, James Paul Murry & wife Stacie Conrad Murry of Palacios, Robert B. Murry & wife Jenny Smith Murry of Channelview, TX and David W. Murry & wife Lynsey Hart Murry of Cross Plains, TX. The Murry family now includes 5 awesome grandchildren, Gage, Emma, Cayson, Rylan and Kynslee. They were the apple of PawPaw’s eye. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and only brother, Mark Paul Murry. The family wants to thank Matagorda House Nursing Home and staff for almost 5 years of care and love to us. The family will receive friends and family from 9:00 Am until 10:00 Am Monday, June 29, 2020 at the First Baptist Church, 2321 Ave F in Bay City. A celebration of life will follow at 10:00 AM with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing.
