Nouhad Mounir Mamoun, age 71of San Marcos, formerly of Bay City, passed away September 20, 2019. He was born February 3, 1949 in Beirut, Lebanon to Mounir Al-Mamoun and Wissal Shahine Mamoun. Nouhad was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid fisherman, loved to play backgammon, and to be outdoors with nature. Nouhad was a lifetime member of the Lions Club, and loved his church family in both Bay City & San Marcos. Always a people person, he was a strong presence in the lives of people that knew him. Nouhad drew folks in with his large & loving spirit and smile! Nouhad is preceded in death by his father Mounir Al-Mamoun, mother Wissal Shahine Mamoun, and brother Zuhair Mamoun. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharilyn Mamoun; children Lena Mamoun, Patricia Mamoun Workman and husband Jeremy; grandchildren Danielle Workman and Lauren Workman; siblings Dr. Michael Mamoun, Salwa Shahine, Dr. Sami Mamoun, Dr. Fouad Mamoun, Houda Bitar, Ghada Shaar, Imad Mamoun, and Fadwa El Baba; plus numerous other loved ones. The family will receive friends and relatives 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, September 27 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral services for Alexandria Renee Maseda, 2, of Bay City, are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, January 30, 1995, at The Living Waters Church, with Rev. Mike Mercer officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Prayer services will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday, January 29, 1995, with Rev. Ralph Gonzales officiating.
She was born February 9, 1992, in Bay City, to Albert III and Susana Dominguez Maseda and passed away January 26, 1995, at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.
She is survived by her parents, Albert III and Susana Maseda of Bay City, by her maternal grandparents, Abel and Juana Dominguez of Bay City, by her paternal grandparents, Albert, Jr. and Diana Maseda of Bay City; by one sister, Minnie Ashley Maseda of Bay City, and one brother, Albert Maseda IV of Bay City.
Pallbearers are Chris Garza, Angel Dominguez, Abel Dominguez, Jr., and Daniel Dominguez.

Gary Lee Mathis, 68, of Bay City passed away September 14, 2019 after a short illness. He was born August 16, 1951 in Wharton, TX to Allen Mathis and Averill Hoffman Mathis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Buzek and sisters Patricia Mathis and Sandra Herrington. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda; children Staci (Adrian) Mathis, James (Silvia) Mathis and Sara (Eli) Hatfield; grandchildren Candyce Brigham, Emily Mathis, Adrian Thornton, Blayne Mathis, Staci Thornton, Olivia Mathis, Mae Thornton, Kaitlyn Hatfield and Ethan Hatfield; great grandchild Sawyer Mitchell; siblings Robert Mathis, Averill Sexton and Cyril Buzek. Gary joined the US Army in 1970 and served one tour of duty in Vietnam. Upon his return, he worked in the oilfield and eventually started his own welding service. His desire to serve the public led him to a 28 year career in law enforcement. Being guided by his strong Christian faith and honest beliefs, he served as Matagorda County Sheriff from 2009-2012. Gary was a strong family man, loving his children and grandkids with his whole heart. No matter the time of day, if anyone in his family needed anything, he was always quick to help. Doug Matthews, 88, of Bay City, passed away September 26, 2019. He was born May 8, 1931 in East Bernard, TX to Leonard and Joy Roe Matthews. Doug raised his family in Sweeny, TX, working for Cut Rate Home Builders as a supervising contractor. After retiring, his love of ranching included, managing Bailey Cattle Co. longhorn breeders in Matagorda County. He also spent many weekends team roping on the back of his favorite horse “Dodge”. As owners of 2-D Auction, Doug and Vicki did numerous auctions in the tri-county area. His love for dancing lead, to a regular Thursday night in El Campo with friends. Doug never met a stranger. Doug is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Vicki Smith Matthews; daughters Cynthia Heard and husband Ricky of Sweeny, and Nina Darlene Ryan of Freeport; sons Dennis Matthews, and David Matthews and wife Barbara of Sweeny; sister Gloria Betek and husband Ray of Bastrop; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Michael Roland Matthews of Bay City, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 9, 2019. He was born in Houston, Texas on February 28, 1940 to James Leslie and Eloise Matthews. Michael retired from Celanese Chemical Company. He loved to travel. He enjoyed hunting and visiting with anyone who would talk to him. His pride and joy were his three precious grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #3070 and the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Police Academy. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Deborah Matthews and brother Jerry Bob Matthews. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Matthews, daughter Christi Lynn Day and husband Russell of Pearland, his sister Eloise Matthews Bayless and husband Steve, brother and best friend Don Matthews and wife Gladys, grandchildren Katelyn Taylor, Courtney Dean and Dylan Michael Day, and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a Rosary at 9:30 am followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Greg Korenek officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck. Mrs. Melvin was born Aug. 1, 1910, in Eagle Lake to Virgil and Lavade Lambers Swansey and died Dec. 22, 1989 at Matagorda General Hospital. Fred A. Mielsch, Jr. passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, June 2, 2019. He was born August 10, 1926 in Bay City. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred A. Mielsch, Sr. and Ella Wasicek Mielsch and his brother John Paul Mielsch. Survivors include his wife of 55 years Margie H. Mielsch; two daughters Diana Goodwin and Mollie Gregory; two grandsons Gary Gregory and Troy Gregory and four great grandchildren Cody (Erin) Gregory, Jacob Gregory, Breanna Martinez and Whitney Gregory. Charles “Bubba” Miller, 63, of Wharton, Texas died on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 in Sugar Land, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones, following a valiant fight with cancer. Bubba was born on May 2, 1956 in Waco, Texas, the son of Charles Eugene Miller and Barbara Lois Callaway Stovall. He grew up in the Wharton area and was a 1975 graduate of Wharton High School. He worked as supervisor of maintenance and operations at Lamberti, part time contractor for many local families after Hurricane Harvey, and most recently the golf course Superintendent at Wharton Country Club. He loved to fish and golf, spending time at the bay with family and friends, but most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of Wharton Country Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Gilbert Stovall; niece, Shana Duke and brother, Douglas Miller. He is survived by daughters, Ryan Quinn and husband Michael of Wharton, and Hayley Miller of Wharton; son, Tyson Hardy and wife Kim of Ashwood; life partner, Wanda Davis Wolfe of Wharton and her children, Hannah Wolfe, Rylee Wolfe and grandson, Khylan Wolfe; mother of his children, Melissa Miller of Wharton; sister, Brenda Burrow and husband Ron of Bay City; brother, Joe Miller of Houston; grandchildren, Toxey Claire Quinn, Taiton James Quinn, Tide Miller Quinn, Cameron Hardy, Madison Hardy, Kaden Pulsifer, Ashlyn Pulsifer and Kylie Hardy; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews along with a multitude of good friends. Charles Raymond Mize, 81, of Palacios, Texas passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019. He was born in Collegeport, Texas to the late Floyd and Otha Mize. Charles was an employee with Palacios ISD for a span of 32 years where he was an educator and school administrator. He graduated from Palacios High school, and went off to graduate from Wharton County Junior College. He then graduated with his Bachelors of Science from Sam Houston State, and continued his education to graduate with his Masters of Administrative Education from Texas State University. He also did post graduate studies at the University of Houston in Victoria, Texas. He retired from his work December 31, 1991. He is survived by his brother, Jimmie Mize; and his two sisters-in-law, Nell Mize and Nedra Mize. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Mize and Otha Gabbart Mize; sisters, Otha Alphin, Margie Alphin, and twin sister Corrine (Cody) Mize; brothers, Bennie Mize, Billy Mize, Lee Mize and Jimmie Mize. Pallbearers for Charles will be Paul Hunt, Jeremy Hunt, Paul Cason, Jose Ortiz, Sr., J J. Ortiz, Jr., Jordan Machacek, Josh Rush, and Caleb Rush. Paula Jean Wyatt Morey, 63, of Port Lavaca passed away October 12, 2019. She was born September 2, 1956 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Paul Eugene Pitcock and Georgia Charlene Rutledge Pitcock. Paula was the former Executive Director of the Palacios Housing Authority and loved helping with the Palacios Operation Santa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband James Paul Wyatt, Jr. and her brother Terry Lee Pitcock. Survivors include her husband Michael Morey; sons John Paul Wyatt, James Eugene Wyatt & wife Christina Nicole Wyatt and Devin Alan Wyatt; twin sister Pamela Sue Larcom and grandchildren Noah Hunter Wyatt, Tyler Paul Wyatt, Colton James Wyatt and Andrew Wyatt. Miriam Ruth
Turner Morgan Miriam Ruth (Turner) Morgan, 94, passed away May 26, 2019 at Clear Lake Regional Heart Tower in Webster, Texas. Ruth was born May 25, 1925 in Frametown, West Virginia and was a resident of League City, Texas a resident of Houston, Texas and a longtime resident of Bay City, Texas. Ruth’s life was filled with happiness from family and friends and her heart was filled with love for others. She will be greatly missed and we wish everyone will keep her in their heart. She was a CARES volunteer at Hilliard Child Development Center, Home Intervention Specialist for Matagorda County Education Services, volunteered at Bay City Women’s Crisis Center and Bay City Nature Center. Ruth was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bay City, Texas. She was also the 1982 Woman of the Year at the Bay City Chamber of Commerce 60th Annual Awards Banquet. When in Houston, Ruth volunteered at a local nursing home and drove a special needs school bus for Spring Branch ISD. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George Wysong Morgan; father, Harvey Martin Turner; mother, Lakie Ann Taylor Turner; half-sisters, Pauline and Bess Turner; sisters, Mary Helen Turner Pullen, Maxine April Turner Woeltz, and Pearl Turner; and brother, John Turner. Ruth is survived by her sister, Betty Turner Schoolcraft of Frametown, West Virginia, and brother, Samuel Turner; daughters, Cora Ann Morgan Bigwood of League City, Texas, and Camille Audrey Morgan of Dallas, Texas; son-in-law, David Paul Bigwood; grandson, Vic Cruz; ‘granddaughters’, Jumirey Cruz Mejia and Nergivell Cruz; ‘grandson-in-law’, Santiago Mejia; ‘great-grandsons’, Jafari Ford, Khyran Ford, Jayceon Ford, Remy Ford and Samuel Cruz; ‘great-granddaughters’, Sarah Cruz and Elena Meija; niece. Micheal Raymond Morrow, 49, of Bay City, Texas passed away September 14, 2019 in Houston, Texas. He was born on Monday, March 2, 1970 to his parents David Edward Safford and Jacqueline Fay Morrow in Berlin, Vermont. Micheal was not known for being a very outspoken person, unless of course you knew him closely, but he was a man of many talents and hobbies. He especially loved spending time with his family who he loved dearly. He enjoyed racing trucks that he fabricated and modified in Connecticut, and was always found to be in his garage working on projects, as well as loyally maintaining the family vehicles. He was also an avid fisherman and loved fishing with the Yankee Fleet in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Micheal worked as a carrier for the Houston Chronicle with the love of his life, Christine for about 12 years. They were even married in their distributor’s backyard. Micheal was a lover of animals, and even had a tattoo of his python “Boots.” He rescued many animals throughout his life, including two cats he found and nursed them back to health, as well as his beloved 9 year old boxer, Saddie Anne, who he found neglected in a house. He was a man full of love! Micheal was survived by his wife, Christine Hengstebeck Morrow; mother, Jacqueline Morrow; sister, Susan Dupuis and her two daughters Ashley Miller (husband Dennis and kids Angelina & Andrew), and Rebecca Oosterman (husband Jeremy and sons Christopher & William); he is also survived by his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Hengstebeck along with their children, Michelle, Robert W., Christine (June), Katharine (Rick McCann) and Lydia; as well as his boxer Saddie Anne, and a host of friends and family. Judy Emerson Myers, 71, of Bay City, passed away June 24, 2019 in Victoria, TX. She was born October 31, 1947 in Borger, TX to the late Clarence and Ann Davis Emerson. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, and husband Gary Bruce Myers. She is survived by her brother Bill Emerson of League City, TX and nieces Rhiannon and Brandy Emerson.
