Kerry Michael LaCroix Joyce Hickman LaCroix Bobbie Grace LaCroix - Roselawn Memorial Park - Courtesy of Faye Cunningham Joyce Hickman LaCroix Services were held for Joyce Hickman LaCroix, 66, of Bay City, 10 am today (Monday) at the First Presbyterian Church. Officiating at the services will be the Rev. Frank Seaman. Burial followed services at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. LaCroix died January 21, 1983 at Matagorda General Hospital. Survivors include wife, Bobby S. LaCroix of Bay City; daughter, Jonan LaCroix Wheeler of Austin; sons, Terry Mitchell LaCroix of Flatonia and Kerry Michael LaCroix of Bay City; sister, Mrs. J. A. Dickerson of Carizzo Springs; brother, J. E. Teddlie of Houston; grandchildren, Sierra D. Wheeler of Austin, Joyce Nicole LaCroix and Stephen Michael LaCroix both of Flatonia. LaCroix, a member of at the First Presbyterian Church, retired from Dow Chemical Company, a veteran of WWII serving in Army Air Corp and a resident of Bay City since 1948. In lieu of the usual contributions, donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Pallbearers include D. M. Rogers, F. E. Pryor, Sonny Williams, Jim Pavlich, Wayne Sells, George Knebel, Jr., J. D. Williams and Paul Phillips. Honorary pallbearers included P. J. Kinaid, E. L. Rogers, A. G. Ferguson, Charles Hairston, Bill Krenek and employees and retirees of the Dow Chemical Company Oil and Gas Division. Arrangements with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Donna Suzanne Langston, age 65, passed away on
Saturday, July 17, 2021. She was born on January 3, 1956 to parents
Phelix Jan Adams and Oda Delbert Langston in Laurel, Maryland. She
graduated from Conroe High School. She attended Sam Houston State
where she earned a degree in childhood education. She was a member
of the Red Hat Society. Donna enjoyed playing bingo, solitaire, as
well as other games. She loved country music, with her favorite
artist being Loretta Lynn, she was obsessed with the color yellow,

Jan Langston, 83, of Bay City passed away December 22, 2018. She was born July 4, 1935 in Palestine, TX to the late James William Lemuel Adams and Mary Ellen Green Adams. Survivors include her husband O. D. Langston of Bay City; daughters Donna Suzanne Langston of Bay City, Mitzi Jan Langston of Waxahachie, TX and Mary Ellen Langston of Lindale, TX; brother Rev. James W. L. Adams II of College Station; grandchildren Tonya Rebecca Thompson Wilemon, Heston Doyle McSpadden, Jonathan Joseph Schroeder and Amy Arrianna Megan Garcia and great grandchildren Colt Wesson Wilemon, Maebry Jo Wilemon and Ila Jewel Grace-Lynn Jones. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5PM until 7PM Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 2PM Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Oda “O. D.” Delbert Langston of Bay City, TX passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021. O.D. was born January 8, 1933 in Palestine, TX to the late Oba Barton and Jettie Evie Langston. In life, O. D. was an avid outdoorsman and loved deer hunting, fishing, naming and feeding the backyard squirrels. He also enjoyed spending time wood working. He was a veteran and served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Donna Langston, Mitzi McSpadden, and Mary Ellen Langston; grandchildren, Tonya Wilemon and husband Dusty, Jonathan Schroeder, Heston McSpadden and wife Shannon, and Amy Garcia; and great-grandchildren, Colt, Ila, Maebry, and Witten; siblings, Vanoy Moseley, Elaine McMannes, Linda McKinnie, and Tim Langston. Oda was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Jan Langston and his sister Jeanette Hennigan. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Fields Chapel Cemetery in Palestine, TX. February 8, 1885 – May 1, 1950
Mrs. Mellie Sims Leckie, a resident of Bay City for many years, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Lonnie McDonald, this morning at 11:30. Although she had not been in good health for several months, her illness was not considered serious and Sunday she was in her usual attendance at the Baptist Church. This morning, just prior to her death, she was sitting talking with her sister. She complained of feeling ill and before a doctor could arrive death came.
Mrs. Leckie is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Louise White of San Antonio and Mrs. Margaret Steele of Kerrville. She is also survived by six grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lonnie McDonald.
A life-long member of the Baptist Church, she had been a devout worker and her interest in church and civic affairs was appreciated throughout this section.
Taylor Bros. Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements, but no time of the service has yet been announced.

George Washington Lewis, age 83, passed away Sunday night at the family residence at 2012 6th Street.
He is survived by: his wife, Mrs. Willie Lewis and a son, Willie, of Dallas.
Funeral services will be held from Taylor Bros. Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Tuesday, with Rev. Roger Whiddon, assistant pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Cedarvale Cemetery under the direction of Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Bay City, Texas, Oct. 2—Three members of a big family fishing party drowned shortly after 11 a. m. Sunday in Peyton Creek after a small skiff swamped and sank near Culder Bridge about fourteen miles from Bay City.
Five persons, two women and three children were rescued. The drowned were: Henry Lewis Sr., 47, and his son, Henry Lewis Jr., 20. Arthur Lewis, 45, brother of Henry Lewis Sr. Arthur Lewis and Henry Lewis Jr., on the bank when the skiff sank, drowned trying to rescue those in the boat. The rescued were: Mrs. Henry Lewis Sr. and her 6-year-old daughter, Jessie Lee. Mrs. Arthur Lewis and her daughters, Lorene 15, and Dorothy, 11. Mrs. Henry Lewis was once given up for dead but she was revived by artificial respiration.
Alex Govender Jr., 40-year-old Wadsworth farmer, and Pete Williams, 30, also a farmer, were the heroes of the rescue.
Two ambulances taking the surviving to the Matagorda County General Hospital sideswiped in a accident on the courthouse square but nobody was injured in the crash.

Jesse Lewis and Curtis Horn, both of Bay City, were fatally injured last night about 11 p. m. when the weather conditions caused Lewis, the driver to miss the bridge just north of the Palacios-El Campo corner and smash headlong into one of the bridge corners. The two young men were returning from Palacios as their car was headed towards Bay City. The car, a four-door Plymouth was badly smashed, and according to a report from George Knebel, first to discover the accident, both men were dead when discovered. The Taylor Bros. ambulance was called, and the two accident victims were taken to the funeral home. Funeral services for Curtis Horn will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 p. m. from the Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral services for Jesse W. Lewis, age 25, will be held at 10 a. m. Friday, Nov. 1 at the Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Lewis, three sisters, Miss Ida Lewis, Miss Oda Lewis and Mrs. Robert Cummings of Bay City and three brothers, Messrs. H. B., Tom, and A. A. Lewis of Bay City. Burial will be in the Cedar Vale Cemetery, with Taylor Bros. in charge of arrangements. Funeral Home. Mr. Lewis died from injuries received in an auto accident on the Palacios Highways Wednesday night. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Lewis, Miss Oda Lewis and Mrs. Ollie Bell Cummings of Bay City; three brothers, H. B., Tom and A. A. Lewis of Bay City. Burial was in the Cedarvale Cemetery with Taylor Bros. in charge of arrangements.

Helen Littlefield of Bay City, Texas passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018. She was born on November 18, 1929 in Yoakum, Texas to the late August and Mary Smejkal Roller. She worked at J.C. Penny in Bay City for 32 years, and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where she loved praying for family and friends every day. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Helen is survived by her loving family, children, Elvalou Denn, Marvin Littlefield, Diana Teichelman, Travis Littlefield, Barbara Zapalac and husband David; grandchildren, Jacob Ray Teichelman, Dustin J. Zapalac, Brina M. Morales, Jason Reams, Jonathan Rodgers; great grandchildren, Christian, Geoff, Maysa, Wright; brothers Joe Roller, Eugene Roller; sister, Shirley Wurm. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 36 years M.W. Littlefield and numerous brothers and sisters. Manuel “Meme” Longoria lll, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019. Manuel was born April 30, 1936 in Cuero, Texas to the late Manuel & Catarina Rodriguez Longoria Jr. Manuel was very much liked at the nursing home where he loved music and to dance. Manuel was very popular greeting people at the nursing home. He also loved to eat Mexican Food. Funeral services for Lillie Mae Lowe, 70 of Bay City will be held 4 pm Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Lynn Grebe and President Jeffery D. Thorley officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck. Mrs. Lowe was born May 17, 1920, to Ural Utah Stanford and Susie Lou Allen Stanford in Jefferson and died March 16, 1991 at Matagorda General Hospital. A resident of Bay City for 60 years, she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of the Rebekka Lodge. She is survived by her husband, Walter H. Lowe of Bay City; a daughter, Macella Steiner of San Antonio ; five sons, Walter Henry Lowe Jr. of Bristow, Okla., George Gerald Lowe of Loveland, Colo. Dan Eldridge Lowe of Houston, Charles Richard Lowe of New London, Conn. and John Edmond Lowe of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Marie Nance of Nederland and Patricia Mendez of Puerto Rico; four brother, John Stanford of Lake Jackson and Dan Stanford, Willard Lester Stanford and Jimmy Bryan Stanford, all of Brazoria; 29 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He attended Bay City and Van Vleck schools and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bay City. While residing in Van Vleck he attended the Methodist church there. In his youth he was a Tribune carrier for many years and had many accomplishments as a member of the Van Vleck High School FFA. Services were conducted by the Rev. Joe Hays, First Methodist Church, Van Vleck, at 2 pm Monday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Chapel with interment at Roselawn Memorial Park. In addition to his parents he is survived by one sister Vida Lynell and a brother James Eastman; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lyle of Sweeny and Mrs. Frances Eastman, Cedar Lane. Pallbearers were Donald Mayer, Russell Bell, Dale Wilson, Travis Chambliss, Elmer Cavender, and Elmer Bitner.
