Anton Joe Kacer

Anton Joe Kacer, Sr., 71, of El Maton passed away July 25, 2012.

He was born June 8, 1941 in Caldwell, Texas to the late Frank Kacer and Rosie Sobotik Kacer.

He was preceded in death by: a daughter Annette Kacer; two grandchildren, Mark Garcia and Koby Kacer; and two, brothers Edwin Kacer and Frank “Frankie” Joe Kacer.

Survivors include: children, Donna Garcia and husband Steve, David Kacer and wife Veronica, Rhonda Mangel and husband Michael, Tony Kacer and wife Scarlett, Diane Wallace and Patrick Kacer and wife Christy; grandchildren, Jessica Garcia, Steven Garcia, Philip Garcia, Adam Garcia, Ashlan Kacer, Alicia Kacer, Marina Kacer, David Joe Kacer II, Michael A. Mangel, Andrew Mangel, Daniel Mangel, Justin Kitterman, Joshua Kitterman, Joey Kacer, Madison Kacer, Paige Wallace, Brooke Wallace, William Wallace, Megan Kacer, Kera Honeycutt, Sierra Velazquez, and Bianca Burnett; sisters, Georgie and Jimmy Meyer, Margie and Joe Ames, Rosie and Herbert Wendel and Annie and Richard Bundick; brothers, Bernard Kacer, Larry Kacer, Edmund and Ima Kacer, Milton Ray and Sybil Kacer and Joe and Regina Kacer.

A rosary was recited Friday at the funeral home.

Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing with the Rev. Peter Yeboah-Amanfo officiating.

Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Blessing.

Pallbearers will be Gary Saha, Jason Chambless, Clayton Hahn, Shawn Kacer, Brian Berger and Tony Berger.

His grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Nancy Pearl Kain

Nancy Pearl Kain died May 25, 2002, in Houston, Texas. Ms. Kain was the daughter of Douglas and Grace Landrum Kain, who preceded her in death.

Born in Bay City, Texas on November 22, 1934 she attended Bay City High School and the University of Houston. She was employed by Andrews & Kurth for several years. Upon relocation to Kerrville, Texas, she was a researcher for C.C. "Pat" Fleming, noted landscape architect. Nancy was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas and lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, where she served on the International Committee. Special gratitude is extended to Susan DeFilippo and her dedicated staff at Braeswood Personal Care Home for their devoted care.

Memorial graveside services will be held at Cedarvale Cemetery, Golden Avenue, Bay City, Texas, at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2002, with the Rev. Sam Steele officiating.

Rita Joy Witcher Kainer “MiMi”
May 23, 1937 – July 20, 2012

Rita Joy Witcher Kainer, 75, of Bay City, passed away at home on July 20, 2012. She was born on May 23, 1937 to Frank Witcher and Clara Witcher.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by: her children, Kim McKelvy (and George), Kari Wigginton (and Billy), Kyle Kainer (and Tammy) and Kelly Billington (and Tom); grandchildren, Jack McKelvy (and Miranda), Chris Billington (and Tammy), Katie Hammon (and Joey), Chad Kainer, Dee Ann Kainer, Wesley McKelvy (and Maria) and Kassie Vela (and Javier); sister, Bobbie Bard and nephew, Eric Bard; great grandchildren, McKenzie, Kylie, Clayton and Mary Margaret.

She was a loving mother and grandmother dedicated to her family. She was a proud employee of BCISD for 27 years where she retired in 2001. She was a faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church for 30 plus years. She always said singing is twice praying. In her retired years she loved to travel and volunteered her time as a pink lady at MGH. Thanks for the party, MiMi! We love you!

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Greg Korenek officiating.

Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in El Campo, Texas.

Pallbearers are to be George McKelvy, Billy Wigginton, Tom Billington, Jack McKelvy, Chris Billington, Chad Kainer, Wesley McKelvy and Eric Bard.

MILDRED MARIE KALAS

Funeral services for Mildred Marie Kalas, 88, of Palacios, Tx. were held May 30, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Rev. Bryan Heyer officiating. Interment was at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Blessing, Tx.

Mrs. Kalas was born Feb. 7, 1924 in Frenstat, Tx., to the late John F. Hlavaty and Mary Hlavaty . She passed away May 26, 2012.

She and her husband operated Kalas Grocery in Palacios for many years.

Survivors include daughter Rita Gold Ocana and husband Hector of Bryan, Tx.; son Joe Kalas and wife Sherry of Sugar Land, Tx.; brother Jerome Hlavaty of Lolita, Tx.; grandchildren John Kalas and wife Kim, Jennifer Cassada and husband Brad, Brian Gold, Michelle Campbell and husband Doug, Kristi Barker and husband Blake and Kara Gold; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe A. Kalas.

Pallbearers were Lawrence Collins Jr., Jerome “Butch” Hlavaty, Joseph John Kalas Jr., Blake Barger, Edward Dorotik, Jr. and Brian Gold.

Gertrude Katzer 87, of Bay City died February 6, 2005 in Bay City, Texas.

She was born March 25, 1917 in Marisville, DeWitt Co., Texas to the late Pete and Rosie Hademek Hahn.

She was a resident of Bay City since 1937 and was a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include: three daughters, Clara Moon and husband Thomas of New Braunsfels, Mary Ann Mildfeldt and Barbara Jean Callaway both of Bay City; son, Henry Paul Katzer and wife Anita of Bay City; sisters, Albina Skolass of San Antonio and Elsie Ryman of Wadsworth; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Alvin H. Katzer; sister, Regina Ibrom; and brothers, Stanley, Felix, Louis, August, and Alfred Hahn.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Cernoch officiating.

Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Scott Moon, Billy Ainsworth, Troy Katzer, James Allen Moon, Henry Yarbrough and Fernando Cruz.

Mrs. Mary Carline Keller, 83, of Bay City died at Matagorda General Hospital July 24, 1981.  She belonged to the First Presbyterian Church, VFW Auxiliary, Rebekah Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary, Pink Ladies of Matagorda General Hospital, Busy Body Club, and Keen Agers Senior Citizen Club.  Survivors include: daughter, Mrs. Mary E. Dawson of Bay City; sons, Don E. Keller Jr. of Corpus Christi, Thomas W. Keller of Bay City, Wilbur M. Keller of Houston, Dr. Meredith E. Keller of Naperville, Ill., Jack N. Keller of Washington, D. C.; 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.  Funeral serves will be held at the First Presbyterian Church July 27 at 3 pm.  Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck.  Grandsons will be pallbearers.  Arrangement with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Patricia Keller

BAY CITY - Graveside services for Patricia Keller will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at Midfield Cemetery, with Dr. T. L. Richardson officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 in the chapel of Green's Mortuary.

Patricia went home to her Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 8:03 p.m. at Methodist Sugar Land Hospital.

She is survived by her loving husband, George Ray Keller; sister, Margie Sandy; her son, James Robert Keller; her daughters, Georgia Maynard and husband Otis Wayne Maynard Jr., Vana Rhea Harris, Loretta Lynn Salinas and husband Ernie Lee Salinas; and grandchildren, Jamia Keller, Robert Keller, Jefferey Maynard, and Matthew Keller.

She was a loving mother and sister and will be truly missed by all those who loved her.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Green's Mortuary of Bay City, 979-245-3489.

Mary Margaret Sears Keller
June 21, 1918 – April 19, 2012

Mary Margaret Sears Keller was born June 21, 1918 to Odin Eli Sears and Cora May Anderson Sears.

She left this earth April 19, 2012 to join her Savior and loved ones as her eternal reward.

She was born at home in rural Robinson, Illinois, the second of three children and died peacefully at the home with her daughter and son-in-law.

Mary’s father moved them to Texas when she was four and a half years old to work in the oil field. They lived in Ivan, Eliasville, Rankin, Mexia and then Iraan, where she graduated high school.

Her family moved to Robstown, Texas where Mary Margaret attended cosmetology school in Corpus Christi.

The family then moved to Bay City where she met and married Don E. Keller, Jr. Their first child was born in Bay City.

Don’s work in the oil business took them to Seminole, Texas where their second child was born.

The war took Don to the Philippines and Mary to Midland, Texas to stay with her parents. Their third child was born while Mary was in Midland. After the war they returned to Seminole where their fourth child was born. Mary’s life was busy raising four children, working in the local church and making clothes fro her family.

Don’s job with Marathon Oil took them to Hobbs, New Mexico then Bay City and eventually to Warri, Nigeria where Don taught the Nigerian’s oil production.

Mary taught an American cooking class to all the ex-pats there, making items of American culture that could not be found there, such as soda crackers, marshmallows, hamburger and hot dog buns.

They returned to the states where Don’s job took them to Corpus Christi until retirement. Upon retiring they returned to the Bay City area to be near family.

Mary Margaret loved cooking for family and church, knitting, sewing, and had a green thumb she exercised in raising flowers. She loved hosting family gatherings and having everyone over for a swim in the pool.

Mary was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Paul Evert Sears; sister, Ruth Sears Cadenhead; her husband; and youngest daughter, Nancy Ruth Keller Lane.

Survivors include: her children, Don E. Keller III and wife Dianne of Houston, Mary Jane Keller McMillan and husband John of Bay City, Evert Eli Keller and wife Patricia of Portland, Texas and son-in-law Thomas K. Lane of Bay City; grandchildren, Margaret Anderson, Jeff McMillan, Don E. Keller IV, Kristina Keller, DeAnna Ruedas, Juliet Lane, Every “Buster” Keller and Marilyn Keller.

She is also survived by: great-grandchildren, Jacob Halama, Mattia Walker, Ian Anderson, Cora Keller, Max Anderson, Paloma Ruedas, Don “Quentin” Keller V, Angelica Ruedas, Emma Keller, Lillian Keller; and brother-in-law, Jack Keller and wife Patricia along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Mary was cared for in the last years of life by her friends, Della White, Tom and Donna Quirk, Bertha Jefferson, Peggy Lane, Angels Home Health Care and Houston Hospice.

Family visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Tom Quirk officiating.

Following the service Mrs. Keller’s earthly remains will be laid to rest next to her loving husband of 50 years in Cedarvale Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeff McMillan, Don E. Keller IV, Jacob Halama, Evert “Buster” Keller, Don “Quentin” Keller V, Ian Anderson, Max Anderson and Ron Cadenhead.

Memorial may be made to the First Christian Church, Angels Home Health Care or Houston Hospice.

Don Elroy Keller Jr.


 


Billy Lee Kelley
April 15, 1939 – Feb. 11, 2012

Billy went to be with his Heavenly Father as well as his earthly father, John Lee Kelley; mother, Dovie Lawrence Kelley; and brother Charles Kelley, after an unexpected death from a possible brain aneurism.

He is survived by: his wife Clara Kelley, they would have been married 50 years in March; daughters, Linda Andrade, Brenda Bray, Glenda West, Tammy Kelley, Ronda Bradford, April Kelley; three sons, John Kelley, Steven Kelley and James Williams; brother, Ed Kelley; sister, Patsy Stephens; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at First Pentecostal Church, where he was a member for over 25 years.

He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, church family and friends.

George L. “Bud” Kelly
April 3, 1919 – April 28, 2012

George L. “Bud” Kelly 93, of Bay City, Texas passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 at his home. He was born April 3, 1919 in Kosse, Texas to parents, Fred and Morine Adams Kelly.

Bud served in the United States Army during World War II in the Aleutian Islands.

He was a resident of Bay City since 1940. He worked at Bay City Auto & Sales for many years prior to opening Kelly’s Car Care Center with his son Joe in 1971. He retired in 1984.

Mr. Kelly is preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Billy Joe Kelly and Robert Kelly; and a sister, Helen Jennings.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 70 years, Raye Kelly; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Carol Kelly; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Bill Roome, all of Bay City; grandchildren, Patricia Roome Bell and husband Doug of North Carolina; Alisha Kelly of Bay City, Paul Roome and wife Bridget of Cypress, Texas; Allison Kelly Lawhon and husband Matt of Bay City; great-grandchildren, Ryan Bell, Riley Bell, Garrett Bell, Austin Roome, Karley Kelly, Sydney Lawhon and Brody Lawhon; brother-in-law, Jay Tillmon and wife June; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Juanita Gonzalez and Julian Gonzales for their special care of Bud during his illness.

Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday April 30, 2012 at the First Baptist Church located at 9210 Hwy 35 North Van Vleck, Texas 77482. Graveside services followed at 11 a.m. Tuesday May 1, 2012 in the Roselawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Bob Hobbins and Chester Sassman officiating.

Alfred Leon Kelso, Jr.
 

BAY CITY - Alfred Leon Kelso, Jr. was born on March 29, 1938, to Bertha and Alfred Kelso in Flatonia, Texas. On October 8, 2011 he went to be with Our Lord. He retired from Celanese and South Texas Nuclear Project in Bay City. He was a mechanical supervisor. He spent six and one-half years in Saudi Arabia with Aramco.
 
Alfred was one of the founders of Bay City Baptist Church, also church treasurer and trustee for many years. He was married to Connie Hutchens Kelso for fifty- four years. Al loved to deer hunt and fish.

He is survived by three children; Brenda Barron and husband Pat, Melissa Greenhill and husband Ted, Russell Kelso and wife Crystal; six grandchildren; Nacona Beasley, Justin Beasley and wife Kelley, Greg Greenhill and wife Marsha, Erik Greenhill and wife Rachel, Dustin Kelso and wife Sierra and Charles Kelso; five great-grandchildren, Austin and Coltin Beasley, Rylee Greenhill, Brett Greenhill and Ember Kelso.

Alfred was preceded in death by his son, Dusty Kelso; parents, Alfred and Bertha Kelso; and sister, Clara Vickers.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Bay City Baptist Church, 1818 Marguerite, Bay City, with Rev. Lee Watson officiating. Graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at the Oakhill Cemetery in Flatonia, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons; Justin Beasley, Greg Greenhill, Erik Greenhill, Dustin Kelso, Charles Kelso; Friends, Wayne Dekle and Jim Weaver.

Albert Kemp

Albert Kemp, 79, of Bay City passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001 at his home.

Albert "Al" was born in Fredrick. Okla. (Tillman County) on July 18, 1921 to Catherine Annette and William Marshall Kemp. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and former owner of Health Food Cottage in Bay City for over 20 years.

Albert was raised in a cotton farming family first in the Texas/Oklahoma Panhandle and then as a cattle ranch cowboy.

Schooled in Pampa, Texas, he excelled in track and field with poll vaulting his speciality. There he married Betty (a class beauty and drama student) and served in the Army Air Corp. until 1946.

He moved his family of four to Bay City in 1961 and went to work at Celanese Chemical Plant.

The game of golf was his hobby and sport of choice and he helped develop the company's nine hole course and oversaw its management for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 54 years, Betty Kemp.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth; brothers, Marshall Kemp of Plainview, Texas, Clarence Kemp of Amarillo, Texas; sister, Theresa C. de Baca of Lubbock, Texas; daughters Kristie Kemp of Houston, and Annette Kemp of Denver, Colo.; sons, Albert Craig Kemp of Atlanta, Ga. and David Barry Kemp of Abilene, Texas; grandchildren, Nathan Cashion, Kevin James Ohnheiser, Kimberly Nicole Kemp, Megan Haley Mask, Kody Kyle Mask, Christopher Jenkins and Cory Alan Shaver; one great grandson, Cole Daniel Cashion; and his great neighbors and friends.

Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25 at First Baptist Church of Bay City with Dr. Michael Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Anna Ruth Kersh

Funeral services for Anna Ruth Kersh, 78, of Bay City were Monday, Jan. 1, 2002 at Bay City Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Ryman officiating. Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Anna was born in Stowell, Chambers County, Texas on April 9, 1922 to parents Ameal Rancon and Belle Monteau Andrews. She passed away at Matagorda General Hospital on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000.

She was a long-time member of the Methodist Church and a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by: sons, Jesse Denman Kersh Jr. and Gary Dean Kersh; daughters, Ruth Elise Weare, Judith Sue Guidry, Norma Jean Walker, Sandra Gail Downs and Vicki Lynn Hauff; 23 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons Rodney Guidry, Donald Guidry, Kenny Hauff, Andrew Downs, Cody Walker and Glenn Walker Jr. Honorary pallbearer was Mark Reighard.

Erin J. Keys
(March 28, 1947 - May 26, 2012)

Erin J. Keys, 65, of Bay City passed away May 26, 2012 at Matagorda Regional Medical Center in Bay City.

She was born in Alice, Texas on March 28, 1947 to parents, Earl and Esperance McElwrath Hutchison.

Erin taught school for 33 years including 17 years with the Bay City Independent School District as a Special Education instructor.

Her husband, John Keys of Bay City, Daughter, Laura Keys of Los Angeles, Son, Randy Keys of Van Vleck, and a sister, Earlene Hopkins of Houston, survive her.

As per her wishes, no services are planned following cremation.

Herman A. Kile, passed from this world to his heavenly Father on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011. Herman was born on Feb. 13, 1959 in Sinton, Texas to the late James Monroe and Naomi Florence Hall Provence. Herman was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. Herman never met a stranger, willing to help anyone at anytime. Herman served his country as a sonar-technician during the Persian-Gulf War in the Navy. Herman was a graduate of Van Vleck High School Class of ’78. Hollis Kimble


Funeral services for Hollis Kimble, 81, of Houston, will be held 11 a. m. Saturday at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, 7817 Calhoun in Houston. The Rev. J. J. Roberson will officiate. Burial will be at Eastview Cemetery in Bay City.

Viewing for friends in the Bay City area will be at the cemetery. Expected time of arrival is 1:30 p. m.

Mr. Kimble was born June 19, 1911 to the late Amboree and Ira Jones Kimble and died Nov. 25, 1992 at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston.

He was a member of the Baptist church. Mr. Kimble loved baseball and he tried out for the Kansas City Monarchs. He ended up on a farm team because of his age.

Anna Lee King, 82, of Sweeny passed away Monday, June 11, 2012. She was born August 10, 1929 in Borger, Texas to the late Roy & Mamie Bernard West.

Anna is survived by her 4 sons & daughters-in-law: Tommy & Theresa King of Van Vleck, David & Mitzi King of West Columbia, Gary & Dayna King of West Columbia, and Ed & Sharon King of Stafford, Virginia; 8 grandchildren: Joseph, Aaron, Craig, Jason, Kevin, Nolan, Ty, and Genna; 5 great grandchildren: Therron, Kamryn, Kasten, Fifer, and Kenzleigh; 2 sisters: Edna Holmes & husband J. E. and Virginia Ables & husband Ken; and many nieces and nephews.

Carl A. King, 74, of Palacios passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at his home. He was born on February 6, 1938 in San Antonio to the late Pauline Terry & Howard Lee King Sr.. Carl was an avid golfer, loved to work in his yard, and tend to his garden. He retired from Celanese after 37 years of faithful service. Carl loved spending time with his family, friends, cat Booger, and dogs Chance & Cody.

He his survived by his loving family; wife: Laverne Bowers King; daughter: Melodie Herzog & husband Billy; son: Carl L. “Bro” King; stepchildren: Rocky Fluellen and Bryan Fluellen & wife Melissa; brother: Howard L. King Jr.; sister: Alice King; 2 grandchildren: Brittney & Macy Herzog; 4 step grandchildren; cat: Booger; dogs: Chance, and Cody; and many extended family. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Bettye Jones “Boots” King, and son: Glen King.

N. M. Mr. James “Jay” Douglas King, 37, of Victoria passed away June 6, 1996.

King was born in Victoria on Oct. 10, 1958 to James “Jimmy” Doyle King and Betty Foster Albrecht of Victoria. He was employed by BH&P Engineering as a senior cad designer. King was a member of the North America Fishing Association and GCCA and was a graduate of Tarrant County Junior College and Texas State Technical College in Waco. He graduated from Victoria High School in 1977.

He is survived by his wife, Cheri Hittson King if Victoria; mother Betty Foster Albrecht of Victoria; three sons Justin Duane King of Raleigh North Carolina, Jamie Scott King of Victoria and Jereme Douglas King of Victoria; sister Elizabeth King-Treadway of Tyler and step-sister Ann Albrecht Harris of Franklin, Tennessee.

King is preceded in death by his father “Jimmy” Doyle King.

Funeral services took place Monday, June 10 at 10 a. m. at the Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mike Shillings officiating. Interment and graveside services were held at 2 p. m. at the Hawley Cemetery, Blessing. The family received friends at Rosewood o Sunday evening June 9 from 6 to 9 p. m.

Pallbearers were Phillip King, Stanley Keith, Bill McCutcheon, Kevin McRae, Steve Treadway and Brion Neilson.

She was born Sept. 27, 1910, in Louisville, Ky., to the late Charles and Ella Kelly Boone. She was a homemaker and an active member of First Christian Church of Ganado.

Survivors: daughter, Jane Kirby Savage of Wadsworth; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services of Mr. Paul Kirby, 73, of Ganado will be held 2 pm Tuesday at the First Christian Church of Ganado with the Rev. Lloyd Watson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. 

Graveside services will follow at 4 pm.

Mr. Kirby was born Sept. 12, 1910 in Boling Green, Ky. And died June 19, 1984, at his residence in Ganado following a lengthy illness.  He was an active member of the First Christian Church of Ganado and was employed as a rice buyer for Elco Rice Mills of El Campo. He was retired as a manager of the Rice Marketing Association of Ganado, following 31 years of service.  He served as a charter president of Ganado Lions and was a member of the Bay City Lions Club.  He was also a former member of Ganado Volunteer Fire Department.  Mr. Kirby was the son of the late Frank Kirby of Kentucky and the late Lottie Jan Kirby of Tennessee.  He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Ganado.

Other survivors include; one daughter, Mrs. Jane Savage of Bay City; one son, Roger Kirby of Seguin.

Funeral services for George A. Kirn, 74, of Midfield, are scheduled for 10 a. m. Friday, Aug. 19, 1994, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joe Wrape officiating. Burial will follow in Hawley Cemetery in Blessing.

Mr. Kirn was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Louisville, Kent., and died Aug. 16, 1994, at The Methodist Hospital in Houston.

A resident of Matagorda County for the past four years, he was a retired Sgt. First Class, U. S. Army. A commander of the 9th District, Dept. of Texas, American Legion, a PUFL member Cecil Lee Post 649 in Blessing, a life-time member of V. F. W. Post 2438 in Bay City and a member of the DAV Chapter of Bay City.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie G. Kirn of Midfield; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie and Eugene Rickaway; a step-grandson, Kenny Smith of Junction, Colo. and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Frances Agnes Klepac, 95, of Bay City passed away March 24, 2012. She was born June 18, 1916 in Granger, Texas to the late Frank Michalek and Mary Kurtin Michalek. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church; The Catholic Daughters; KJT and the Ladies Auxiliary of Philip Parker VFW Post 2438. She sewed for many people and was the secretary of her son’s business.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tom C. Klepac in 1977, her oldest son Daniel T. Klepac in 2006, her parents, three brothers Frank, Anton & Joe and two sisters Mary and Hattie. PALACIOS - Sandra Schneider Koch, 63, of Palacios, was welcomed into Heaven Tuesday Nov. 8, 2011. She was born Jan. 20, 1948 in Houston to Alvin H. Schneider, Sr. and Vera Arthell Schneider.

She worked many years at Palacios Abstract and Title Co., a job she truly loved. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her smile was contagious and she considered life as a blessing.

She was survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert W. Koch, Jr.; sons, Robert John Koch and wife, Robyn, and her first grandson and joy of her life, Louis Connor Koch, of Richmond, Scott Alvin Koch, of Palacios; sister, Sharon Duke; brother, Alvin H. Schneider, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Tammy Diaz.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, 209 Lucas Ave., Palacios, 77465, with Louis Rush officiating.

BAY CITY - Leona Socha Kocurek, 95, of Bay City, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003.

She was born Oct. 27, 1907, in Taiton, to the late Adolph Donald and Beatrice Amanda Chambless Socha. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of Christ.

Survivors: daughters, Vera F. Clements and Flo Gentry Dreher, both of Bay City, and Thelma Gelber of Wharton; sisters, Louise Pointer and Lillian Graham, both of Bay City, Velma Clements of Santa Fe and Jane Wendt of Sargent; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: husband, Louis Frank Kocurek; daughter, Ruby Lucille Shawler; and grandson, Lee Frank Gentry.

She was born on March 17, 1918, in Weimer to the late Alois and Theresa Kloesel Koenig.

She was retired from the Garwood School cafeteria after 19 years of service and was a member of the K.J.Z.T. and the Nada Catholic Daughters of America.

She is survived by: her sons, Richard J. Krenek and wife Judi of Miami, Florida, David Krenek of Bay City; daughter, Dorothy Saha and husband Gilbert of Bay City; grandchildren, Russell Krenek, Phillip Krenek, Glenn Saha, Tim Saha, Greg Saha and Cheryl Saha; sister, Elsie Hoover of Tennessee; brothers, Robert Koenig and wife Bobbie of Louise, Frank Koenig and wife Alice of El Campo.

Silvy J. Krenek Killed at Underpass Early Today; Apparently Went to Sleep

Mr. Silvy J. Krenek, 22, son of Mr. Theo J. Krenek, of Markham , was killed instantly about 2 o’clock this morning at the underpass on Highway 35. He was driving toward Bay City from Palacios and evidently he had fallen asleep while driving alone. Just as he reached the turn at the underpass his car struck the embankment on the left of the road and the impact caused his car to swerve sharply to the right where it bounced on the right side and turned over on its side, just about ten feet from directly under the railroad track overhead. His body was brought to Bay City , stated the State highway patrolmen, James R. McWhirter, who investigated the accident, by Taylor ambulance.


Mr. Krenek was a member of the ‘American Legion, a World War II veteran where he served in the paratroops.


He is survived by his father, two sisters, Mrs. Ernestine Dablegott and Miss Mazie Krenek, both of Markham .


Rosary will be said Thursday evening at 8:30 and again, Friday evening at 8 o’clock at Taylor Bros. Funeral home. Rev. V. J. Bily will officiate at the funeral services which will be from the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing Saturday morning at 8:30. Interment will be in the Nada Catholic Cemetery .

Clarence "Bucky" Kruse
(July 1, 1926 - December 4, 2011)
 

Clarence W. “Bucky” Kruse of Palacios passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011. Bucky was born on July 1, 1926 in Thomaston , Texas to the late William Franklin and Sadie Mae Dedear Kruse. Bucky was a butcher with HEB. He proudly served our country during WWll and Korea in the Marine Corps. He is survived by a brother James Kruse of Palacios. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-9P.M. at the Palacios Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00P.M. on Friday at the Palacios Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Palacios Cemetery.

Ethel Lee Chamblee Kunefke

PALACIOS - Ethel Lee Chamblee Kunefke, 81, of Palacios, passed away Aug. 5, 2011. She was born July 12, 1930, in Kaufman County, to the late Roy Douglas Chamblee and Annie Lloyd Chamblee.

Her husband of 57 years, Robert R. Kunefke Sr., preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughter, Cheryl Scott and husband Brad of Palacios; son, Bob Kunefke Jr. and wife Chris of Palacios; granddaughters, Amy Foote of Dallas and Nicole Kunefke of Palacios; sisters, Margaret Cleveland of Victoria, Loraine Smith of Palacios, Faye Bates of Palacios, and Shirley Griffith of Victoria; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Palacios with the Rev. Hollas Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Bates Jr., Mark Bates, Alton Smith, David Smith, Mike Griffith, Dwayne Griffith, and Charles Eikenberg.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers Marjorie Johnson, Hope Guerrera, Carol Garcia and Frit Clark.

Leonard "Uncle Bro" Kunefke Sr.

PALACIOS - Leonard "Uncle Bro" Kunefke Sr., 90, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. He was born July 27, 1920 in Winnie to the late William Paul and Gladys Emeline Adams Kunefke. He served his country proudly during WWII in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre.

He moved to Palacios in 1946 where he married Agnes Maples in 1947 and had four beautiful children. He worked for Sun Oil Co. for 33 years; after retiring he had a passion for shrimping. He was loved by everyone who knew him, and will be greatly missed.

Leonard is survived by his loving family: daughters, Lynelle Plant and husband Johnny, Kathy Conrad and husband Ricky, and Vicki Kunefke; his son, Leonard Kunefke Jr. and wife Vanessa; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Thelma Standley and husband Troy.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Agnes Maples Kunefke, and three brothers Verna, Ralph and Robert Kunefke.

The family received friends and relatives from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Palacios Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Palacios with Rev. Hollas Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post 2438 of Bay City and VFW Post 2467 of Palacios.

Grandchildren Sean Conrad, Corri Perez, Jay Plant, John David Plant, Brent Kunefke, and Kristin Neumann will serve as pallbearers.
