Craig Allen Hajducek

March 7, 1961 - October 10, 2020

Craig Allen Hajducek, age 59, died on October 10, 2020 in Temple, TX. He was born on March 7, 1961 in El Campo, TX, at Nightingale Hospital.

Craig is survived by his son, Chris Hajducek and wife Stephanie (grandkids, Adam, Aidan & Alyvia) of Taft, TX; his son, David Hajducek and wife Amanda (grandkids, Hayden & Cameron) of Temple, TX; his daughter, Dana Henry and husband Aron (grandkids, Emma, Charlotte & Nora) of Temple, TX; sister, Stephanie Reynolds of Weesatche, TX; brother, Darryl Hajducek of Pledger, TX; and brother, Gordon McCarty and wife Leslie of Bay City, TX. He is preceded in death by his father, Anton William Hajducek, of Florida; his mother, Freda Yvonne Burger, of Van Vleck, TX; grandparents, Josie and Edmund Burger of Wharton, TX; and Stephanie and Jerry Hajducek of Peach Creek. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind a host of other dear family and friends.

Craig worked hard in the trades for most of his life as an insulator and sheet metal fabricator. His greatest passion was enjoying fishing in the fresh and salt waters of the Texas sun all his life; it was hard for him to keep a hook dry. Craig always seemed to find humor in the things of his life and had an infectious laugh. He will be remembered for his unique sayings and perspective on life. He enjoyed growing things, and had a green thumb inherited from his mother.

Craig did not want a memorial service, but instead wanted his children and grandchildren to spread his ashes at the surf in Matagorda. The family asks that you think of Craig the next time you are out on the water and catch one for him...tight lines and bent rods.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made in honor of Craig to the Coastal Conservation Association of Texas (https://ccatexas.org/donate/) 6919 Portwest Dr., Suite 100, Houston, TX 77024.

Glenn Harold Holland

December 24, 1956 - January 28, 2021

Glenn Harold Holland, 64, of Van Vleck, Texas, passed peacefully on January 28, 2021 with good friends by his side.

Glenn was born to the late Evelyn Hansen, and Robert “Bob” Eugene Holland, on December 24, 1956, in Wharton, Texas. Glenn graduated from Wharton County Junior College and Dallas Baptist University with degrees in physical therapy and teaching. He also attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he desired to eventually become an ordained minister. He lived mostly in Van Vleck, Texas throughout his life.

After college Glenn spent a few years teaching in the Fort Worth area and ultimately moved back to Van Vleck in care of his parents. Whereas Glenn did not obtain the status of ordained minister, he did excel in private life as a faithful minister of the Gospel to almost everyone he encountered. His parents established for him a good foundation that taught him selfless giving; as was their custom to all that knew them personally. Glenn used his parent’s life lessons along with the call of Christ to speak into the lives of so many people. Most would never know of Glenn’s ministries because they were in service to Jesus, his Lord and Savior. In faithful adherence to Matthew 6:3, he never bragged about his deeds and only now in death do we start to hear of so many that he ministered to. He was a private person later in life; never-the-less, he ministered to a huge online community that we will never know the full extent of. He just wasn’t worried about anyone other than God knowing of his deeds. Many unsuspecting online friends were the recipient of one of Glenn’s “care” packages, it would be excessively generous and more than you needed, but always on time and just when you thought nobody cared.

Glenn in his younger years was an avid tennis player and would also use tennis as an avenue for ministry to others. On the court you were probably going to hear a Bible quote or a life lesson from the Word. He could be frustrating to play tennis with as he always had a desire to teach – it was just the way he was made, being a minister in all things. He also was an excellent musician with uncanny abilities to play music that you would swear were recordings by famous artists. The musicians that he would associate with were ministered to and they would hear the Gospel from Glenn. Glenn above all else desired that God be glorified in his life.

Glenn is survived by his daughter Melissa Horton of Cedar Lane TX, nephew Sherman and Elizabeth (Liz) Redd of El Campo TX; their three children: Samira, Aryannah, and Aaden. He also had a loving family of close friends: Matthew and Emily Svoboda; their three children; Shawyn & Dane Evans, Jasmyn Svoboda, and Jonathan Svoboda. Shawyn’s three children Klara, Harper, and Rhett were especially cherished by Glenn as his own grandkids.

Glenn will be greatly missed and to God be the glory for making him.

The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 9:00 am Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Danevang Lutheran Church. Services will follow at 10:00 am with Donald Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Danevang Cemetery. Pallbearers are Sherman Redd with Aaden Redd, Morris Mirales, Jonathan Mirales, Jody Simmons, Jonathan Svoboda and Dane Evans.

Cody Dale Holloway left this earth to be with the Lord on December 10, 2020, with the love of his life, Nathaniel Licudine, by his side. Cody was born on October 31, 1972 in Bay City, TX to Marshall Holloway and Regina Muzny Holloway.  Cody grew up in Blessing, TX and graduated from Tidehaven High School in 1991.  While in junior high and high school Cody held numerous jobs around Blessing, including the Blessing Hotel, Tony’s Cafe and the American Legion to name a few.  He first attended college at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, TX on a scholarship as the men’s basketball trainer.  He spent three years at TVCC with his last two as the cheerleader team trainer.  He transferred to University of Houston Victoria where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a Minor in Math.  While on breaks from college, Cody enjoyed traveling the country and world while working for Universal Cheerleading Association.  After college, he started teaching school at Bay City Junior High, where he was a math teacher and volleyball coach, and later became head of the math department.  While teaching at BCISD, Cody was also an adjunct instructor at WCJC.  He stepped away from education to become a petroleum land man, but it was not long before he was called back to BCISD as a high school math teacher.  While teaching, Cody continued pursuing his Master’s Degree in Education, which he earned from U of H Victoria.  He spent several years back in education before moving on to work with Fluor in Bay City and then on to Greenville, South Carolina, where he and Nat met.  After his contract ended with Fluor he moved back to Bay City and into the Nursing Home business.  He was hired as the Assistant Administrator at Matagorda Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.  Little did he know in a short time he would be thrust into the Administrator position, and he took the position in stride, like he did with most things in his life.  Cody took the facility from an average facility to the top facility in the area in a few years.  He had the ability to bring energy back into anything he put his mind to, which he did with MNHRC.  Cody and Nat were married on June 10, 2017.   In 2019 Cody moved to Riverdale, Georgia, to finally be with the love of his life.  He became the Assistant Administrator at Dunwoody Nursing Home in Atlanta, where he continued to touch many lives.  Cody was a member of numerous organizations, and was super passionate about the Bay City Evening Lions Club.

Cody was an educator, a nursing home administrator, a mentor and a true angel on earth. He never met a stranger and was a friend to so many.  He pushed so many to achieve, and to never give up on anything they set their mind to.  He truly lived life with a purpose and to the fullest, and so many people are better because of him.  Cody truly loved his family, friends, coworkers, but most of all loved Nat with all he had.

Cody is survived by his husband Nat, his JoJo, mother Regina Holloway, father Marshall Holloway (Joyce), brother Heath Holloway (Elle), niece Taylor Holloway, mother and father in-law Zeny (Momma Zen) and Bart (Papa Bart) Licudine, brothers- in-law Michael and Danny (Big Dawg) Licudine, step-brother Jason Wheaton, step-sister Shannon Halcumb and Amanda (Gary) Clarke. Jewel Harris Hubert

September 01, 1927 - February 24, 2021

On September 1, 1927, in Fayette County, Texas, a precious gift was given through the union of Tom Harris and Isabela Johnson Harris.  This precious gift was named Jewel Ethel.  She was the seventh child born to the union.

Jewel accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age at Gay Hill Baptist Church in LaGrange, Texas.  Her family moved from LaGrange, Texas to Van Vleck, Texas in 1939, when she was twelve years old.  There she attended and graduated from O. H. Herman High School.  She met the love of her life Charlie Rivers in the mid 40’s at the Matagorda County Sunday School and BTU Federation being held in Van Vleck, Texas at that time.  She later married Charlie and to this union three children wee born, Gloria, Sammy and Gerald.  Shortly after, Charlie and Jewel moved their family to Blessing, Texas where she became a faithful member of Free Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W. M. Mayfield.

Jewel later moved to Houston, Texas in 1976 and married Leon Hubert, Sr. She became a member of Greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church until her health began to fail.  Her pastors were Rev. Albert Campbell, Rev. Lloyd Scott and later Rev. Mose A. Jones.  She taught Women’s Adult Sunday School Class, served on the Mission Board and assisted in the culinary Department.

She retired from HISD after many years in the dietary department.  She also worked for many years in Bay City, Texas at the Oasis Hotel as the head chef when it was unpopular in the 1960’s for a black woman to be head of any type business.  Even today many fond stories are told of her delicious dishes.  Prior to this she worked as a chef at the Peterson’s Restaurant in Palacios, Texas.  Jewel started her cooking career at the historic Blessing Hotel.

Jewel was an excellent mother to her three children, a doting and protective grandmother and great grandmother, encourager, the perfect chef and caterer, a classy dresser, an avid reader, a world traveler, strong willed and a successful entrepreneur.  Jewel started her own antique shop, Antiques by Jewel and a vintage fashion boutique which she named after her mother, Isabella’s Past & Present.  This venture was co-owned with her daughter, Gloria.  These ventures were started after her retirement which proved that she was capable of accomplishing whatever she put her mind to do.  Jewel never met a stranger and was the life of every party.  She loved music and loved to dance.  Her vivacious personality will live on in the lives of all those that she touched.

Early on Wednesday morning, February 24, 2021 at 4:00 AM, time drew back the curtain and brought to a close, the end of day for our precious (Jewel).  Jewel took her final bow with grace and dignity!

Filled with empty wells of loneliness will be her only surviving son, Pastor Gerald Wayne Rivers (Chris), her last surviving sister, Ruby Rivers (Elijah deceased), her grandchildren, Shawn Jackson, Artis Preston (Ayele), Charles Rivers (Dionne) and Gia Rivers; her step grandsons, Marcus Joubert and Martin Baines.  She also leaves to cherish her memories ten great grandchildren, the last one born on 02/23/2021 the day before Jewel’s homegoing.  Miraculously this child was a breech birth as was Jewel.  Additionally, she had six step great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, god children, family and friends.

Jewel was preceded in death by both parents, her children, Samuel Rivers and Gloria D Preston; brothers, Eugene, Monroe, Charlie, Edward and Tommy (Lil Tommy) Harris; her sisters, Bernice Jarmon and Geraldine Battle.
