Judith Ann Brown Heller
May 13, 1947 - August 26, 2017
Judith Ann Brown Heller, ‘Judy’, completed her journey of 70 years, here on this earth on August 26, 2017. She jettisoned this life and moved from her beautiful blue bedroom in our family home in Bay City, Texas - to be welcomed by her Savior, Jesus Christ and our Mother and Daddy. In her eternal Home in Heaven, her beautiful mansion, prepared for her by God, Himself.
Judy was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on May 13, 1947 as the second daughter of Albert Carroll Brown, Sr. and Emogene Latham Brown. She traveled home from St. Joseph Hospital on her first automobile ride in the "Baby Orchid Ambulance," Monday afternoon, May 19, 1947 with her Mother and Daddy. They were delivered to their home at 1112 Bessie Street. Daddy proudly paid $5 to give his precious little girl this special "baby-ride-home" service. Judy grew up in Fort Worth, Big Spring, and Bay City, Texas, where she graduated High School along with a host of friends. Many of you are here today to celebrate her life with her family. Judy attended Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas, and then married the love of her life, Henry Lawrence Heller, who preceded her in death. As an adult, desirous of falling into her mother's footsteps as a nurse, Judy returned to college and received her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from San Jacinto College in 1992 at the age of 45. She held a license from the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse and served her profession well as a Critical Care Nurse, a Life Flight Nurse, an Industrial Nurse, and a Hospice Nurse.
Judy loved the Lord and was continually in awe of the amazing world He created. She loved to see the beauty of nature, and especially loved animals of all types. Most especially, she loved dogs. Jody had lifelong friends in her dogs. Her precious poodle, Josette Michelle, and in later life, a beautiful Cocker Spaniel, Reagan Renee. Reagan was her constant companion through many tough medical challenges and Judy gained comfort from her beloved best friend. Judy loved helping people, and did so whenever she could. She shared her life and meager means with others, helping them even when she had little herself. She extended her hand of help and generosity to many. Judy never met a stranger and was a dear friend to all who knew her.
Judy passionately loved her family. She missed her parents and her grandparents fiercely and longed to see them again. She has been reunited with them now and is likely 'catching them up' on all of our lives. Sibling lunches, as we like to call them, were always complete when Judy was well enough to join in. We'd meet in a cafe in between where we all live here in Texas and laugh and talk for longer than we should have. Judy loved her nephews and nieces dearly, took every opportunity to spend even a few minutes with them, and always encouraged them to pursue their dreams.
Judy had a true servant's heart. She was often found in her retirement years volunteering to stuff bulletins at church or sing in the choir. She loved her church, her pastor, and most especially her girlfriends, Adelle, Anna June, Mary Sue, Della Jo, Mary Jane, Betty & Linda, Peggy, Sharilyn & Judy and BJ & Glenda and so many more. Judy loved you like sisters. You hung with her to the very end. Caring for her unconditionally. She was JB to you. And you were her life. She came back home to Bay City to be with you and was blessed by your love.
The years of fighting cancer and many other physical conditions took a toll on Judy's body, but her spirit seemed to soar in the mist of it. Her smile was contagious, her strength unequaled, and her joy and laughter a testimony of the Christ that lived in her. Judy said in her last months that she could handle all the other illnesses that she had battled throughout her life since she was a very young child, but that Alzheimer's scared her. It was in fact, the very disease that she could not beat. She beat cancer, heart disease, and so much more with the strength of the Lord and the power of prayer. But when God's days for Judy were complete, and she lifted her weakened hands toward heaven, although the dreaded mind-killer had taken her body, she still knew us and left us with her love. Judy was a prayer partner unequaled for us all. Those prayers go on today, but now, she stands in the presence of the Christ to whom she prays. She is asking Him today to give us comfort. And He has. Our Judy is greatly missed.
Judy is survived by her brother, Albert Carroll Brown, Jr. and wife Louise; Sisters, Betty Gene Brown Vacek & husband Eddie, and Lynnette Brown Johnson Anthony & husband Clifford Charles. Nephews Mike and Tim Johnson and wives Leanne & Courtney. Nieces Joanne Brown, Crystal Ames, Tommie Kay Wilson, Kim Wilson & husband Dalwane. Along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, one dear uncle, many cousins and many, many dear friends. Our dearest Aunt Jane followed Judy to heaven just 11 days later on September 6th. Their reunion was surely sweet.
Judy's family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to our extended family and friends for their love and support during this difficult time. You have eased our burden.
Judy's love for nursing, nurses and the medical community moved her to will her body to be studied by the nursing school at the University of Texas in Houston. Many nursing students will benefit by Judy's generous heart and desire to be used as a vessel in the quest for medical healing.
Judy loved flowers but her generous heart would tell us to help those in need. Please honor Judy's heart of generosity and make your remembrances to the Scholarship Fund for Graduates or the Music Department of First Baptist Church, Bay City, TX. Or to benefit Alzheimer's Disease research through brightfocus.org or by calling 800-437-2423.
There will be a Celebration of Judy’s Life at the First Baptist Church of Bay City on Saturday, September 30 at 12:30 PM. This life story if from Judy's funeral program.

Loren Frank Henderson, Sr.
September 3, 1930 - August 18, 2017
Loren Frank
Henderson, Sr. was born on September 3, 1930 in Crockett, Texas and
died at his home in Bay City, Texas on August 18, 2017 surrounded by
his loving family.
Loren was
preceded in death by his parents, Lester Washburn Henderson and Hula
Maye Robison Henderson; his beloved wife of almost 66 years, Peggy
Watkins Henderson; his oldest son, Loren Frank Henderson, Jr.; his
brother, Lester Henderson; and sisters, Joan McKissick, Bethryn
Mears, and Ruth Zizelmann.
Loren is
survived by his son, Lloyd Henderson and wife Theresa of Bay City;
his daughter, Cindy Diener and husband Erich of Bay City; his
daughter-in-law, Nancy of Sweeny. Loren is also survived by six
grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three great-great
grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. His living siblings
are William Henderson of Brazoria, Texas, Jack Henderson and wife
Sue of Branson, Missouri, Lanny Henderson of Sweeny, Texas, and Ann
Bledsoe Minshew and husband Roy of Sugar Valley, Texas.
A rich man is
one whose life can be measured by his deeds and his dedication to
his family, his faith, and his responsibilities, and Loren Henderson
was indeed rich in all three. Whether it be his strong work ethic
as a loyal employee of Phillips Petroleum Sweeny Refinery for 35
years or taking on additional odd jobs to provide even more
financial support for his family. Loren was also strong in his
faith, believing worshiping God didn’t just happen within the walls
of a church, but instead God’s presence could be witnessed wherever
He was invited for a visit.
Loren was a
man not afraid to take on a new challenge. He would tackle a car
engine that needed repair, or work beside his sons or brothers on
their latest construction project or home improvement task. Some of
the more fun challenges he accepted were learning woodworking or
making custom pen and pencil sets, or raising the best home-grown
tomatoes in town. He had a thirst for knowledge, and as a result was
a voracious reader of books on a wide variety of topics, and he
loved to strike up a conversation with anyone and hold up his end of
that conversation. One of Loren’s passions was an appreciation of
all types of music. His lifelong love of music was evident in his
vast collection with artists varying from Frank Sinatra, the Mills
Brothers, and Benny Goodman to Bob Wills and Chet Atkins. As such,
his children and grandchildren reaped the benefits of such a wide
exposure to music.
Loren’s
family, however, was the most important part of his world. He
frequently would look around at family gatherings over the years and
comment to Peggy, “Look at what we started”. He was known as WoWo
to many and PawPaw to others. Memories of Loren’s quick wit and
sarcasm, his compassion for others, and his love and devotion to his
family, as well as his strong work ethic and thirst for knowledge
will forever be his legacy. The world is definitely a different
place without Loren.
A visitation
for Loren was held on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas.
The funeral
service was held Monday, August 21, 2017 at 10 a.m.
Interment
followed at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, Texas.
In lieu of
flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to
Houston Hospice in El Campo (1102 N. Mechanic, El Campo, TX 77437)
to whom much gratitude is owed for the phenomenal care provided to
both Loren and his family.

arms of Jesus on Thursday, September 28th, 2017. Her parents, Levi

Bert Lewis Huebner
November 9, 1928 - November 5, 2017
Bert Lewis Huebner, 88, passed away November 5, 2017.
He was born November 9, 1928 in Lane City, Texas to George Lee and
Leta Belle Taylor Huebner who bore five sons.
Bert graduated Wharton High School, Class of 1946, and attended
Texas A & M College, Class of 1950.
He married Dorothy Ann (Dot) Baer Huebner in 1953 in Bay City,
Texas. After leaving Texas A & M, he entered the United States Air
Force Officer Pilot Training Corps, wherein he received both his
commission and his wings at Foster Field in Victoria, Texas. Bert
served during the Korean conflict as a jet pilot with an all weather
interceptor squadron located in Maine. His primary duties were being
dispatched well out over the North Atlantic to intercept
unidentified and potentially hostile aircraft inbound toward the
United States.
Following his discharge, Bert and Dot returned to Bay City at which
time he became the co-manager of Baer Cattle Company, a position he
served for over 50 years. Along with the assistance of Dot, he
helped perpetuate the Baer family legacy and helped guide and
sustain the family ranching business for a substantial portion of
its 144 year history. Their commitment and leadership helped
solidly secure Baer Cattle Company’s place amongst the oldest
continuous cattle operations still existing within the State of
Texas.
In 1960, Bert enrolled at the Bates School of Law, University of
Houston, where he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. He
returned to Bay City where he practiced law for over 50 years
specializing in general civil litigation, real estate and oil and
gas law. Bert was an active member of the American Bar Association,
the State Bar of Texas, and the Matagorda County Bar Association.
Bert enjoyed mentoring young attorneys developing their skills and
practice in Matagorda County.
Bert served two separate terms as Matagorda County Judge, the first
being 1973 – 1978 and the second being 1997 through 1998. This was
a time of dynamic growth for Matagorda County and Bert was both
thrilled and honored for being allowed to represent the interests of
the citizens of Matagorda County.
Bert also served as Board Member and, ultimately, two terms as
Chairman of the Lower Colorado River Authority headquartered in
Austin, Texas. As such, he was integrally involved in directing the
LCRA mission of enhancing the lives of fellow Texans through water
stewardship, energy development and community service.
Bert was also actively involved in numerous community organizations
and service clubs over the years including but not limited to the
Matagorda County Chapter of The Literacy Volunteers of America, the

In his personal time, for years Bert enjoyed and was quite adept at
flying his different personal aircraft. He also loved being
actively involved as a cattle producer, not only on the Baer but on
family lands in Wharton County as well. Bert was well known for
being an exceptional steward of not only the animals but also of the
land as he practiced focused conservation, environmental protection
and enhancement management techniques long before such activities
became popular. Some of the greatest joys Bert spoke so fondly of
were those wonderful experiences growing up with his grandchildren,
Leigh Anne, Taylor and Savannah, as their “boot camp” visits were
always packed with plenty of horses, cows and other exciting
out-of-doors country experiences.
The family would like to give not only special recognition of but
also our heartfelt gratitude to Laura Hatfield, Bert’s ever faithful
secretary, Sherry Brown, his loyal caregiver / sparring partner, and
to Ruby Huerta and Shirlene Garcia of Soft Touch Angels. These
individuals demonstrated exceptional character, patience and
devotion in assisting Pop through a very difficult period of his
life.
Bert was preceded in death by Dorothy, his wife of 63 years; his
infant son, Daniel Baer Huebner; his brothers, George Lee Huebner
and wife Patricia, Marcus Taylor Huebner and wife Wynelle, and David
