William Hagood, an aged and highly respected citizen of Palacios died Tuesday, August 16, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mildred Barr. The deceased was 79 years, 1 month and five days old and had been an invalid for some weeks. Besides the daughter with whom he had made his home for some time, he is survived by four sons, G. M. and Dewitt Hagood, of Colorado; J. S. of Goose Creek, and Felix of Texas City, two brothers and three sisters, W. M. and E. G. Hagood, of Alabama, Mrs. Ophelia Massie, Mrs. Nanie Palmer, and Mrs. Kate Findley, also residents of Alabama. Mr. Hagood and family made Olivia their home for a number of years and during the World War, Mrs. Hagood passed away. He was a devout member of the Methodist Church and after moving to Palacios he was a regular attendant of all his church services as long as his health permitted. He was a kind and loving father, good neighbor and friend to all. Funeral services were conducted from the Palacios Funeral Home, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. W. R. McPherson, pastor of the M. E. Church officiating. Burial was made in the Cemetery at Olivia under the direction of the Palacios Funeral Home.

Elroy James Hahn, age 90 of Markham, Texas, passed away on April 13, 2016, at Matagorda Regional Medical Center in Bay City, Texas. He was born on September 10, 1925, in Sample, Gonzales County, Texas, to John Joseph and Elsie De Reese Hahn. Elroy moved to Matagorda County in 1929. He lived in the El Maton community for 32 years. On March 15, 1944, Mr. Hahn entered the United States Army and served in World War II. He was in the 656th Tank Destroyer Battalion seeing action in Germany with the Ninth Armored Division. He served as an assistant gunner on the Tank Destroyers. Upon returning from Germany, he and his Battalion marched in the Chicago Parade on Memorial Day. Mr. Hahn was reassigned to Ft. Campbell, Kentucky waiting for orders to go to Japan. World War II ended prior to the transfer. Elroy was discharged in April of 1946. He returned to El Maton to continue farming. After his father’s death, he and his mother relocated to Markham in 1963. He was the loving caretaker and devoted son to his mother, who preceded him in death on January 16, 1997. Also preceding him in death is his brother, Johnnie Louis Hahn; sister-in-law, Evalee Frick Hahn; brothers-in-law, A. T. Richardson and J. T. Frick. Elroy is survived by two sisters, Lorene Hahn Frick of Markham and Ruby Hahn Richardson of Bay City. He is also survived by nieces, Tommie Marie Anglemyer of Plano, Jenny West of Bay City, Anna Hurta of Midfield, Gail Saathoff of Hondo and Jill Cornelius of Bay City; and by three nephews, Johnnie Lee Hahn of Bay City, Greg Snelling of Austin and Jeff Snelling of Reno, Nevada. Elroy was a Life Member of Cecil Lee Post #649 American Legion of Blessing, Texas. He was also a Life Member of VFW Post 2438, Phillip Parker Post 2438 of Bay City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Legion Auxiliary Post 649, P.O. Box 428, Blessing, Texas 77419 or Markham Methodist Church, P.O. Box 238, Markham, Texas 77456. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City with the Rev. Bill Ramsey officiating. Burial was at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, Texas. Pallbearers were Johnnie Lee Hahn, Greg Snelling, Jeff Snelling, Ron Anglemyer, Louis West and Bryan Hurta. Wallace “Wally” Rene Hancock, 82, of West Columbia, Texas passed away on May 29, 2016 in Sweeny, Texas with family by his side. He was born in Kernes, Texas to Wallace Orloff and Lela Florene Hancock on December 28, 1933. Wally worked in construction, oilfield and gas gauging, and was a millwright throughout his life. Wally and his family moved from California to Sargent in 1978 and purchased Wyatt’s Grocery, changing the name to Hancock’s Grocery and later closing the store and opening “The Little Brown Jug” liquor store. While living in Sargent he worked on the Sargent swing bridge and was interviewed on the “Eyes of Texas”. After the passing of his wife, he sold everything and moved to California and worked in a gold mine. After retiring, he moved back to Texas, settled down and remarried. He enjoyed being around his grandchildren and great- grandchildren, telling jokes and was an avid reader. He was known for his beautiful ice blue eyes. Wally was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Dorothy Jean Hancock, latest wife Eva Gassen Hancock; sons Randy C’ne Hancock, Olen Scott Hancock and Wallace Paul Hancock; sister Corley Peterson; step brother-in-law Roy Lee Jones and step-son Thomas Eugene Gassen. He is survived by his daughters Mary (Lester) Merritt of Cibolo, TX and Regina (Larry) Gassen of West Columbia, TX; step-son Mike (Linda) Gassen of Brazoria, TX; step-daughter Nancy (Edwin) Klaiber of Sweeny, TX; brother Bennie (Susan) Hancock of Odessa, TX; sisters Adele (Perry) Farley of Lindsey, OK, Genell (Hubert) Shawn of Priceville, AL and Kim Hancock of Big Spring, TX; brothers-in-law Duane Taylor of Boerne, TX and Lyle (Georgia) Peterson of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren Lawrence (Kate) Gassen, Jr. of Blessing, TX, Amie Goff of Lake Jackson, TX, Ashley (Patrick) Mays of Brazoria, TX and Cristie Merritt of Cibolo, TX; step-grandchildren Michael Gassen of Austin, TX, Tony (Heather) Klaiber of Lawrenceville, GA, Angie (Ryan) Blacklock of Richmond, TX and Leslie (Edward) Zuniga of Bay City, TX; six great grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Marvin Ray Harris, 79, of Bay City, Texas, passed away April 12, 2016. He was born March 17, 1937, in Smith County, Texas, to the late Jesse Lee Harris and Mattie Meadows Harris. He worked for Harris County Sheriff’s Department from 1972-1973, and Assistant Chief of Police of Nassau Bay Police Department from 1973-1977, in the Houston, Texas area. He attended Wharton County Junior College 1988-1989, receiving an Auto Technology degree, and then attended the University of Houston in 1990. Marvin worked security at STP from 1993-1999. He was a Bay City ISD-Transportation Driver from 2002-2011, and worked for Victoria Golden Crescent Transportation from 2011-2016. Marvin had a strong faith and love of God and was trustee at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Bay City. His interests were music, photography and computers. He wrote songs and poetry and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Marvin is survived by his wife of 31 years, Bettye J. McElroy Harris. He is also survived by his daughter, Debra Ann Baker and grandson Charles of North Carolina; sister, Ann Sitton of Lindale, Texas and two nephews. Other survivors include stepsons, Barry Bowden and wife Melanie of North Carolina, and Craig and Steve Bowden of San Antonio; stepdaughter, Diane Morris and husband Alan of Sierra, Arizona; sister-in-law, Phebe L. Alford of Temple, Texas and her son Emery of Florida; two nieces; nine step-grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Marvin is preceded in death by son, Duane Harris; two brothers; two sisters; and stepdaughter, Pam Bowden. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Louderback and family were called to Freeport Saturday by the sudden death of Mrs. Archie Harrison, wife of Mrs. Louderback’s brother. Mrs. Harrison, who had undergone an operation at the Freeport Hospital, was thought to be getting along just fine, and her death came as a shock to her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Lucille and Margaret, and one son, Laurence. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian church in Bay City, conducted by Rev. H. B. Etreater, of Freeport; and Rev. E. F. Deutsch, of Bay City, and burial at Cedar Vale cemetery. The Harrison family made Palacios their home some years ago, when he was employed as a meat cutter in the Quality Market. They made a large circle of friends and all are grieved to learn of Mrs. Harrison’s death.

Millie Dale Hartman, 95, of Palacios passed away March 19, 2016 in Victoria surrounded by her family. She was born in Oklahoma on August 18, 1920 to the late James B. Arnold and Mary Williams Arnold. She was a lifelong resident of Palacios where she worked at Dumas Shrimp House and was an active member of Palacios VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Millie had a passion for cooking, baking and gardening. She was famous to her family for her amazing hot rolls. She had a laugh that would light up a room and she will be greatly missed. She leaves behind her brother Sterling Arnold, her son Wayne Henderson, her daughter Leona Auztin and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and close friends. The family will greet friends and relatives beginning at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Palacios Funeral Home. Glenn Harvey, born May 9, 1868 in San Augustine County, Texas, died at his home in Palacios, Monday, October 13, 1941, aged 73 years, 5 months and 4 days. He is survived by one brother, Virgil Harvey of Palacios, two sons, S. K. Harvey, of Palacios and Kirby Harvey, of Broaddus, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. R. H. Purswell, of Collegeport, fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The remains were prepared for burial by the Palacios Funeral Home and taken to Harvey Creek, San Augustine County, where funeral services were held Tuesday, October 14, and interment made beside his wife who preceded him in death a few years ago. Mr. Harvey had lived in this community for about fourteen years, coming here from east Texas, and was an industrious and successful farmer. A large circle of friends extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives.

Rosemary Harvey, 78, of Blessing, Texas, passed away March 20, 2016. She was born October 15, 1937, in Matagorda County, to the late Jerry George Orsak and Mary Vacek Orsak. She was preceded in death by her brother, Leo Orsak. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Gaylon Harvey; daughter, Debbie Benrud of Pearland; son, Tim Harvey and wife Frances of Blessing; grandchildren, Lee Harvey and wife Martha, Stephen Benrud, Kendall Benrud, Crystal Harvey Tumlinson and husband Matt, and Jessica Harvey; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Harvey, Brooke Harvey and Benjamin Tumlinson. Jack L. Hawkins Sr., 83, of Cedar Park, formerly of Palacios, Texas, went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2016. Mr. Hawkins was born June 13, 1932, Omaha, Texas, son of John T. Hawkins and Willie Lou Vicey. He was a loving husband, father, and a devout practicing Christian and resident of "The Ranch" at Cedar Park. Jack could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. In all his years on this Earth, Jack has been a man of Christian faith and continuously shared his faith with others. Mr. Hawkins served in the United State Army during the Korean War. He worked many years in the Insurance Industry before retiring and co-owning Believer's Bookstore. He studied at Del Mar College. Mr. Hawkins spent most of his life in Texas. He and his wife, Hazel, built their home in Palacios, Texas and enjoyed many wonderful years there together. He is survived by his son, Jack (Karen) Hawkins Jr. and daughters, P. Janene Hawkins and Susan Minter; his grandchildren: Haley (Jamie) Kruse, Lori Bohannon, Sam (Shasta) Bruce, Chalon Hawkins, Bonni Hawkins, and Dane Minter; and 10 great-grandchildren. Danny Head, 75, of Van Vleck, Texas, passed away April 27, 2016. He was born January 30, 1941 in Jefferson County, Texas, to the late Aloysius Daniel Head Sr. and Nell Maines Head. He had worked as both a crop duster and pipefitter. Survivors include his wife, Linda Hadash Head; daughter, Danell Head and fiancé Joe Bellino; step-children, Tamara Larocca and Justin Smith; sister, Rachel Riley and her husband Phil; brother, Robert McDermott and his wife Belinda; grandson, Luke Daniel Bellino; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; niece; Charlotte Pasket; and nephew; Keith Daniel Riley. Lee Roy Hearn, 78, died on March 12, 2016, in Sterling Heights, Michigan. He was born on November 30, 1937, in Dawson, Texas, and graduated from Bay City High School in 1956. His parents were Pete and Edith Hearn. Upon graduation from high school, Lee, as he became known to his “Yankee” friends, went with just a few dollars in his pocket and an acceptance letter to Westminster Choir College, now Ryder University, in Princeton, New Jersey. He refused a full ride at a Texas University because he had a different dream. Once there, he persuaded the Dean to let him earn his tuition, room and board, by working in the dining room. From the Choir College, he was matriculated with Bachelor degree and later a Master degree in Sacred Choral Music. He also met and married the woman with whom he would father two children. After a short ministry in Texas, he went to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and earned a Master of Divinity Degree and was ordained an elder in the United Methodist Church. For many years he served as the Minister of Music to a massive music program at Bethel Park Church in Pittsburgh. He also worked in other ministry aspects of that large congregation. Choirs, hand bells, pageants, ensembles, and groups too numerous to mention were part of his skill set. A divorce occurred and he decided to leave the ordained ministry and move to Michigan. There, he discovered a new ability in designing business forms and other paper products needed by businesses. In November 1979, he married The Rev. Dr. Patricia Meyers. Together they faced his multiple sclerosis and then pancreatic cancer. He continued to be active in the churches by serving on many boards and even doing garden working, designed by wife, and gleefully taking all of the credit. Mr. Hearn was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Edith Hearn; and one nephew, Charles English. He is survived by his wife, The Rev. Dr. Patricia Meyers; his children, Lee Parker Hearn and Martha (Kozo) Shiman; one granddaughter, Katherine Rudzki; three siblings, Charles (Polly) Hearn, Frances English, and Caroll Hearn. He is also survived by his nephews, Brad Watkins, Daxton Watkins, Ross Valentine, Elysia Draper, William English II, and Donald English. He is also survived by his best friend from high school, Neil (Barb) Edwards, with whom he forged the closest friendship of his life. Then, there are the Yankee friends, without whom he could not have survived the last 17 years of his life. They stretch from Delaware to Michigan, and there are too many to name. Mr. Hearn was cremated. Contributions in his memory should be directed to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Joe P. Herman aged about 70 years was found dead in his boat early Tuesday morning by Mayor Deutsch, who had been notified that Mr. Herman’s boat was out in the bay and he could not be seen. Mr. Deutsch brought the boat in and immediately summoned a physician who after examining the body said death resulted from a heart attack. The body was taken to the Brandon-Duffy Funeral Home, where it was prepared for shipment to Coldwater, Mich., for burial. Services were held at the Funeral Home Tuesday morning at 10:30 under the auspices of the I. O. O. F. Lodge, of which he was a devoted member. Rev. .G. F. Gillespie was in charge and Mr. W. A. Whitney made a short talk in which he paid tribute to the departed. Mr. Herman had lived in Palacios about 25 years. He had no relatives here, but was visited by a niece on several occasions, who survives besides one brother and one sister who live in Michigan.

Lester Martin Hill, aged 17, a son of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Hill of Bay City, was killed Wednesday morning on the highway near Gertie’s Station east of Blessing. The body was found by Sheriff Milner and County Traffic Officer Guy Barnett as they were on their way to Bay City after being called here by the Mexican murder. The boy’s head was crushed and is supposed to have been hit by a truck while asleep near the highway. A brother to the dead boy, who was found asleep near-by, stated they had been to Galveston and had ridden a freight train back. Coming through Bay City, they were asleep and when they awoke they could not leave the fast moving train so they went on to Blessing. Walking back they became tired and sleepy and sat down to take a nap. The boy had been dead only a short while when the officers found him. He is survived by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services for Capt. William Hill were held in the Palacios Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock conducted by Rev. George F. Gillespie, assisted by Rev. Clyde Rogers. Mr. Hill died Dec. 25, 1947 at the hospital in Galveston where he had been since October 16. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Josephine Petzel, of Corpus Christi, who is now 92 years of age, and the only one left of a family of eleven children, whose father was Capt. John W. Hill, who came to Texas from Florida and located at Aransas Pass. Mr. Hill was nearing four score and ten and had been partially blind for the past several years. Besides the sister, survivors include several nieces and nephews. Among the relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. C. C. O’Brien and Mrs. Jay Rhodes, son and daughter, of Port Arthur and Mrs. R. S. Petzel of Corpus Christi.

Funeral services were held in Merkel last Tuesday for J. D. Hogg, aged 81, who died of a heart attack at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. J. Hartley, in Plainview, on Sunday, August 2. Mr. Hogg was a distant relative of James Stephen Hogg, first native Texan to be elected governor of the state. He came to Palacios from the west Texas section where he lived many years, about 20 years ago and continued to make this his home until the week before his death when he and his wife went to Plainview to be with their daughter. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Hartley, of Plainview, Mrs. Houston Robertson, of Merkel, Miss Lucille Hogg of Bay City, and four sons, Will, of Houston, Braxton, Palacios, Raymond, Dallas and Jim of Houston; nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild also survive.

Robert H. Hollinger, aged 55 years, 9 months and 19 days, passed away here Saturday night. His remains were prepared for burial and shipped to Weatherford under the direction of the Palacios Funeral Home. Mr. Hollinger, who had been here for some months servicing typewriters at Camp Hulen, was formerly associated with R. H. “Bob” Beavers in Bay City. We learn he is survived by his mother, two sisters and one son.

Funeral services were held for Clarence C. Hood, Friday, Oct. 24, at 2 p. m. in the Palacios Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. George F. Gillespie. Mr. Hood died in the Bayview hospital, October 23, 1947, from injuries received about 8 o’clock that evening when he was struck by a car as he was attempting to cross the highway near the Walter Milam home north of the city limits. Ray Dorsey, driver of the car stated that lights of a car coming toward him prevented him from seeing Mr. Hood until he was directly in front of his car and he was unable to avoid hitting him. He stopped to give the injured man aid and others nearby who witnessed the accident rushed to the scene and all were of the opinion it was unavoidable. Mr. Hood was rushed to the hospital and everything possible was done to ease his suffering but he succumbed a few hours later. Clarence Clifford Hood was born Jan. 1, 1867, at Spring Green, Wis., and died at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 23 days. He had made Palacios his home since 1913 and spent much of his time on the bay and enjoyed visiting with those who plied the waters for their livelihood. He is survived by four sisters and three brothers, two of whom, Ralph and Herman, reside in Palacios. The body, accompanied by Herman Hood, was taken to Spring Green, Wis., for burial in the plot which is the last resting place of many members of his family.

Rosie Horta, 69, of Boling, died Thursday April 21, 2016, in Boling. Rosie was born on July 28, 1946, to Fidencio and Herlinda Sosa Horta, in Wharton. Rosie was raised in Boling and lived in the Boling and Wharton area throughout her whole life. She worked as a cashier at the Boling Supermarket for over 20 years. She later worked in home healthcare until her health caused her retirement in September of 2015. She will always be remembered for her love of dancing. She loved music of all types and loved to dance to the music. She loved her Dallas Cowboys. She wore her Cowboys shirts with pride. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; son Ray Matthew “Beaner” Horta; sisters Lucia Quintanilla, Olivia Ortiz, Antonia Horta, Hope Campos and Mary Horta; brother Rudolph Horta Sr. Rosie is survived by daughters Debbie Castro Garza and husband Ronnie of West Columbia and Rose Miranda “Mandy” Sanchez and husband R.J. of Boling; sons Johnny Castro Jr. and wife Connie of Wharton and Ralph Castro and wife Danielle of Boling; sisters Delores Horta Lopez and Mary Jane Horta Hill; brothers Robert Horta, Joe Horta and Rudolph Horta Jr.; 23 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday from 5-9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Serving as Pallbearers will be Joseph Castro, Christian Castro, Zachariah Castro, Robby Sanchez, Frankie Castro, Cruz Raymond, David Horta and Joseph Horta. William “Bill” Joseph Howze, 90, of Bay City met the Lord peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2016. He was born February 3, 1926 to Joseph and Effie (Miller) Howze in Iowa Park, Texas. He attended high school in Midland Texas, and during World War II, served in the United States Navy. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Jim (Baker) Howze, parents, Joseph and Effie Howze, sibling Peggy (Howze) Blackburn, and nephews Larry Morrow and Bill Blackburn. Bill is survived by his two daughters, Connie (Howze) Stall and her husband William Stall of Boerne, Texas and Kim (Howze) Marceaux and her husband Brent of Bay City, Texas; four grandchildren, Shawn Marceaux and his wife Erin (Tyson) Marceaux, Chris Stall and his wife Kristen (Holmes) Stall, Julie (Marceaux) Latson and her husband Shane Latson, and Susan Stall. He had three great-grandchildren, Fisher Marceaux, Beatrice Marceaux, and Wyatt Latson. He is also survived by his nephew Michael Morrow and niece Martha (Morrow) Peterson. Bill was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was faithful to his religion and family, a true gentleman, a train enthusiast, part-time magician, and accomplished storyteller. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 6 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Bay City, Texas, on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Cedarvale North Cemetery. Pallbearers are Shawn Marceaux, Chris Stall, Shane Latson, and Michael Morrow. Honorary pallbearers include lifelong friend Clyde Workman and the Friendship Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church. Special thanks go to Sandra Ford and family of Danevang Country Assisted Living and Houston Hospice -El Campo. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Bay City, Texas.

James Houston Huddleston died at his home west of town, at 3 o’clock Sunday morning, June 13, aged 62 years, 7 months and 26 days. His death was very sudden and came as a shock to his family and friends. Funeral services were held from the family residence Monday morning at 9 o’clock, conducted by Rev. G. F. Gillespie, of the Presbyterian Church. The body was then taken overland to Powers Chapel, for burial under the direction of the Palacios Funeral Home. The deceased is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. J. C. Weed, Mrs. Ernest Hurst, of Houston, and Mrs. Ruby Slaughter, of Blessing, two sons, J. W. and Aubrey Huddleston, of Houston, and a step-son Ernest Petty, Palacios. Mr. Huddleston had resided in this community several years and was admired for his quiet, unassuming manner, neighborly kindness and his sudden passing is learned with sadness by all who knew him. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved wife and children.

Wilma L. Humphreys, of Iowa, La., writes us of the death father, William Fletcher Humphreys, which occurred at his home in Jennings, La., on December 27. This bit of news is of interest to many of our citizens who remember Mr. Humphreys as being one of the founders of the city of Palacios, and is honored by having one of the city’s streets named for him. Mr. Humphreys was born September 17, 1886, Bangor Township Marshall County, Iowa. With his parents, William B. and Jane Carter Humphreys went to Louisiana in 1887, and to Jennings in 1897, where he established a grocery business. He was also interested in early oil development of the state, rice and cattle business. He served Jennings as member of city council and one term as mayor, 1901-02. A group of men of Jennings, using capital raised in Minnesota, formed a company and bought a tract of land, a part of the famous Shanghai Pierce pasture and laid out the town of Palacios. Mr. Humphreys was one of this group and with him were two brothers-in-law, W. P. Cary and Dr. A. C. Wilkins. S. J. Johnson was president of the company and D. C. Ritchie, of Jennings was secretary. J. P. Haber and C. G. Morton were also in this group of promoters, and Messrs. Ritchie and Mr. Morton are now the only survivors, Miss Humphreys states in her letter. On June 20, 1897 Mr. Humphreys was married to Miss Nellie Himler of Sigourney, Iowa. Three children, M. K. Humphreys, of Garden City, Kansas, Miss Wilma Humphreys and Mrs. C. E. Necessary, Of Jennings and Mrs. C. R. Minor a foster daughter of Cedarcroft Plantation, Greenwood, La., and the widow survive. Mrs. Minor and the son were with Mr. and Mrs. Humphreys when they lived in Palacios during the development.
