Funeral services for Frances Estelle (Webster) Gallien were held Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Giddings with Rev. Tim Edwards officiating.
Frances was born on October 30, 1930 in Fayette, Alabama to LeRoy Asbury Webster and Nettie Elizabeth Riddle and passed away the evening of December 17, 2014 at her home in Giddings.
She was united in marriage to Gilbert Warren Gallien on July 23, 1948 in Campti, Louisiana. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Sherry Lynn and Teresa Diane.
Frances worked as a dental assistant in Palacios for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Giddings where she was involved with the Agape Ministry and also volunteered with Rejuvenation. She enjoyed sewing and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Russell, John and Asbury and three sisters, Elizabeth, Josephine and Geraldine. Frances is survived by her husband of 66 years, Warren Gallien of Giddings, Texas; two daughters, Sherry Berger & her husband Raymond of Giddings, Texas and Teresa Hysmith & her husband, Bill of Loving, Texas; three grandchildren, Rebecca White & her husband, Kent of Giddings, Texas, William Hysmith & his wife, Ashley of Graham, Texas and Travis Hysmith & his wife, Keri of Dublin, Texas; seven great grandchildren, Shannon, Shane & Sarah Allen of Giddings, Joshua and Allison Hysmith of Graham and Tanden and Raelynn Hysmith of Dublin as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, the Methodist Children’s Home, 1111 Herring Avenue, Waco, TX 76708 or the Agape Circle at the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 759, Giddings, Texas 78942.

Lorraine Torres Gallagher, formerly of Bay City, Texas, passed away peacefully at the age of 55, at her home in Blair, Wisconsin, surrounded by family, on August 25, 2014, from complications of leukemia. She was born August 15, 1959, in Bay City, Texas, to the late Julian Torres and Lucy Torres McClanahan. Lorraine moved to Wisconsin with her family in 1996, where she was an operations director and personal banker at Independence State Bank in Independence, Wisconsin. Lorraine was the nucleus of her family, and she passed on her love of music, laughter and fun to her three children. She had a spark of life that couldn’t be undone, even by cancer, and she remained vibrant and dignified until the end of her life. Lorraine is survived by her husband, Daniel Gallagher; her three children, Natalie Gallagher of Kansas City, Missouri, Valerie Gallagher and Patrick Gallagher, both of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her brothers, Domingo Perales and wife Alice of Angleton, Texas, and Edward Torres and wife Helen of Missouri; and her mother, Lucy Torres McClanahan of Bay City, Texas. Lorraine was preceded in death by her father, Julian Torres. A memorial service for her was held in Blair, Wisconsin, on Saturday, August 30, 2014.

Richard Gamertsfelder was born August 27, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio to Robert and Margaret Gamertsfelder and passed away on March 16, 2015. Richard and his family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico at a young age. In his youth he loved snow skiing and fishing. He attended McMurry College in Abilene, Texas from 1966 to 1971 earning a BBA degree in General Business. He married Linda Christensen and moved back to Albuquerque where his daughter, Jennifer, was born in 1975, and his son, Christopher, in 1979. He worked as Administrative Assistant at the Albuquerque International Airport. In 1983 his family moved to Palacios, Texas, where he worked as City Treasurer. In 1997 he moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, working at Wal-Mart and Beau Rivage Casino.
He was
preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Gamertsfelder, his
father, Robert, and his sister, Joanie. His is survived by
sisters, Jean Sanderson and Janet Castle and husband, Jack,
daughter, Jennifer Porter and husband, Jason, son, Christopher
Gamertsfelder and wife, Myrla. He enjoyed his five
grandchildren, Ashlyn and Garrett Porter, Maylin, Jake, and
Bryan Gamertsfelder. |

Funeral mass for Catarino F. Garcia, was held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Monsignor Gerard Cernoch, officiating. Rosary was held on Monday, February 9, 2015, at 7 p.m., in the chapel of Green’s Mortuary. Catarino was born November 25, 1934, in Victoria, Texas. He was called home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Felipa F Garica; brothers, Joe James, Luis Garcia and Paul Garcia; sisters, Elena Garcia and Semona G. Rosas; and sons-in law, Luis Gutierrez and Ladislao Arriaya. A funeral Mass for Crescencio 'Chencho' Garcia, 81 of Palacios
will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday (Sept. 12) at St. Anthony's
Catholic Church in Palacios with graveside ceremonies following
at the Palacios Cemetery.
Chencho was born on April 19, 1933 in Olivia, TX to the late Santos and Ramona Garcia and passed away on September 6, 2014, in Victoria.
Chencho served in the United States Army honorably, raised a loving family, was an entrepreneur in the shrimping industry and his greatest pride and joy were his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was a lifelong resident of Palacios and had long lasting friendships throughout his life. Chencho will be loved and missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson Mark Garcia.

Josephine Garcia, 56, of Bay City, Texas, died July 22 at the Matagorda General Hospital. Survivors include her father, John Garcia of Bay City, a daughter, Ramona Navarro Zavala of Bay City, a sister, Sarah Garza of Bay City, her brothers, Alfred and Ezequiel Garcia, both of Bay City, and three grandchildren.

Mrs. E. A. Gaudet Found Dead at Her Home Body Found Near Open Gas Jet 10 O’Clock This Morning
Mrs. E. A. Gaudet was found dead this morning about ten o’clock lying near an open gas jet in the bedroom. Mrs. F. Norton, a close friend of Mrs. Gaudet’s, went to her home this morning about ten and found her in the room. Death occurred between eight o’clock and the time she was found by Mrs. Norton.
Mrs. Gaudet had been in ill health for several months and was suffering from fainting spells. It is thought she must have suffered one of these spells, and in falling struck the gas jet and in so doing caused it to open, causing asphyxiation. She was alone at the time.
She is survived by her husband, her two sons, Edward and Billy, by her mother, Mrs. W. G. McDow, and by a brother, Sidney Wright of Port Arthur, Texas. Taylor Bros. is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Time of the funeral has not been set.

Willie Louise Duncan Gillespie
Willie Louise (Duncan) Gillespie was born January 10, 1926 and passed away peacefully at Briarcliff Health Center in Greenville, Texas on Januray 4, 2015.
The first of six children, she was born west of Greenville in the Salem community and moved with her family during the great depression to Muddig, north of Commerce.
She had lived in Louisiana, St. Louis, Las Vegas, Houston and traveled to many destinations with family and friends.
She retired from Harris County after more than 20 years of service. After retirement she moved to the sea coast in Palacios. She had a green thumb and her house and yard showed it. Willie liked her coffee and was pleased to have discovered the Gevalia line of gourmet coffees, which she also enjoyed sharing with her friends. She liked ice cream too, and treated herself to a pint of Blue Bell from time to time. This was to be sure a whole half gallon didn’t disappear too soon. Willie loved to read and kept a dictionary open on the coffee table in front of her, ready for new words or for clarifying old ones. Willie was an active member of the Presbyterian church in Palacios, especially Circle, of which she was a vibrant part. And she was a good cook. She loved driving around town with friends or family to see the bay. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was younger than her years. While Willie didn’t talk about it openly, it became clear over time that not only was she an AA member, she was the “matriarch” of the Palacios chapter. She was frustrated by those folks who came to meetings only because the court had insisted that they show up as part of their sentence, but was well respected by the “real” members, who were not shy about showing their friendship and regard. Willie was also practical. While still enjoying her life in Palacios, after several falls, a couple of breaks and other issues, with nary a complaint she bit the bullet in 2006 and moved across state to Commerce, close to her brothers where she also touched many lives with her sharp wit.
Willie was preceded in death by her parents, L.E. (Jack) and Eva Pierce Duncan, one brother, Louis, and an infant sister, her first husband, Paul Elliott and her second husband, Charles Gillespie.
She is survived by three brothers and their wives respectively: Gordon and Joann Duncan, Gary and JoAnne Duncan, Danny and Janet Duncan and many nephews and nieces.
The family extends sincere gratitude to Draughn’s Country Home Estates, Briarcliff Health Center, Dr. Rick Selvaggi, Bettina Zvanut, Bruce and Cara Herlin and other special friends in Palacios and the caregivers at First Presbyterian Church in Commerce.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette “Jeanie” Grudziecki Gormley of Bay City, TX; son, Jason Wade Gormley (Alexandria Fyffe) of Cedar Park, Texas; daughter, Jami Lee Gormley Casey (Troy) of Bay City, TX; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Tardif (Rudy) of Presgue Isle, ME, Margaret Ann Wallace of Crouseville, ME and Rose Marie Lytken (Scott) of Spokane, WA; brother, Jim Gormley of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren, Peyton Grace Gormley, Cayda Faith Gormley, Gracen LeighAnne Casey, Slade Wesley Casey, Cassandra Petty (Jacob), Christopher Casey, Teran Casey, and Tanner Casey. Bill was raised in Houlton, Maine, graduated from Houlton High School in 1964, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps., at age 17. Corporal Gormley proudly served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. After his tour, Bill came to Texas with a fellow Marine. Here he met his bride, Jeanie, of 45 years. They began their life together in her hometown of Rosenberg, Texas. He was employed by Leaman’s Home Building & Lumber Company. Mr. Leaman later opened the Bay City Home Center location, which Bill managed. For 30 years he worked as a warehouse technician for LyondellBasell. Those who knew Bill, knew his passion for running track, water sports, hunting, and fishing. He was devoted to his family, friends, and never met a stranger. Bill will be sorely missed by all. The people he touched are blessed beyond measure. The family would like to extend special thanks to Houston Hospice-El Campo for the care and compassion given Bill during his recent illness. The family received visitors from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday March 12, 2015, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, with a 6:30 rosary recited. The funeral mass was held at 10 a.m., Friday March 13, 2015, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City, with the Rev. Greg Korenek officiating. Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City, Texas. Pallbearers were Butch Nawara, Chuck Wleczyk, Sammy Rodriguez, Willard Ulbricht, Cliff Haviland, Bud Abbott, Frank Carr and Paul Orsak. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Frontz, A.J. Ryman, Paul Herman, Oscar Salinas, Bruce Thomas, Mike Mainer, Mike Denn, Eddie Dunn, Dan Pustka, Danny Shindler and Barry Nauman. Johnnie Marvin "John" Green, 59, left heart disease, weariness and pain for the company of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 23. He was born to Katherine Calk Green and Clarence Marvin "Bubba" Green on December 3, 1954 in Bay City, Texas. John married the lovely Alma Sevilla on March 31, 1997. He is mourned by his wife, his mother, a special niece, Emily Lara, and a host of other family members. John was predeceased by his father, his younger brother, Clyde Edward "Duke" Green, and his grandparents, Felix and Lillie Calk and Harvey Marvin Green and Edna Green Melior. He deeply loved and enjoyed his Calk, Green and Sevilla family. And they, him. John was kind, communicative, studious, and a seeker of knowledge. Every member of his family and countless friends could readily cite an example of his work ethic, devotion to bible study, pursuit of fairness, and quest for bettering the lives of those he loved and cared for. One of John's proudest achievements was returning mid-career to complete his formal education at Baylor University College of Law. While he loved "the law" and his practice, his life's work centered on knowing Jesus and sharing Him with others. The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas DeBauche for his compassionate care and devotion to John's well-being. He is a tribute to his profession. Friends are cordially invited for a visitation with the family from five in the afternoon until seven in the evening on Saturday, October 25th, in the chapel of Taylor Bros. The funeral service is to be conducted at four o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, October 26th at Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 5701 Seventh Street in Bay City. Max Guanajuato Jr., 62, of Angleton, Texas, passed away August 1, 2014 in Angleton, Texas. Mr. Guanajuato was born July 2, 1952 to Max Guanajuato Sr. and Cayetana Lozano in Bay City, Texas. Services were held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Burial followed at Angleton Cemetery. Visitation was held at Palms Funeral Home on Monday, August 4, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a Rosary starting at 7 p.m. Officiating the service was Father David Zapalac. Max was a diehard Texans fan! He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary Helen Guanajuato.
