Anita Fay Katzer Fanson, 76, of Wadsworth, TX, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015. She was born April 8, 1939, in Bay City, TX, to the late Joseph Sr. and Rosa Lee Wick Jurek. Anita is survived by her husband, George Fanson of Wadsworth; four daughters, Anita Yarborough of Sweeny, Pamela Falks and husband Don of Bay City, Cheryl Ainsworth and husband Billy of Votaw, TX, and Lori Katzer of Bay City; three step-daughters, Carrie Fultz, Carmen Bertling, and Suzie Fanson O’Neal; sister, Rosalee Petersen; four brothers, Joseph Jr, Donald, Patrick, and Randy Jurek; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Henry Paul Katzer, in 2007. The family received visitors from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2015, at the funeral home. Nellie Faye Rutherford Fellers, 89, of Bay City, passed away Thursday August 6, 2015. She was born October 30, 1925 in McMullen County, Texas to W.C. and Nellie Ann Ray Rutherford. Rose was born in El Campo, Texsa, October 8, 1954 to Rudolf and Rita Belle Nichols Fialla and passed away peacefully after a two year brave and courageous fight with breast cancer at her home on March 16, 2015 in Blessing, Texas. Survivors include a dedicated and devoted spouse of 46 years, Nelson Harris; sister Lisa Fiala (Richard) of Blessing, Texas; sisters-in-law, Frances Liohle of Blessing, Texas and Estella Harris of Bay City, Texas; brothers-in-law, Manson Harris (Wandalyn) of Bay City, Texas and Eugene Harris, Sr. of Palacios, Texas; nieces, Ianthia Nelson (Fiala) of Wharton, Texas, Davelyn Brooks of Bay City, Texas, Michelle Harris of Houston, Texas, LaShanda Haynes of Palacios, Texas and Carolyn Delano (Todd) of Scottsdale, Arizona; nephews, Joey Fiala of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Johnathan Harris (Kalena), Eugene Harris, Jrs., James Harris and Leirion Hodges all of Bay City, Texas; James Harris III (Quamica) of Pledger, Texas, Charles Harris of Corpus, Christi, Texas, John Harris of Friendswood, Texas, Johnny Harris of Houston, Texas and a whole host of great nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born April 15, 1918, to Tommie Fields and Menervia Taylor Fields, in Cedar Lane, Texas, and passed away July 25, 2015, in Rosenberg, Texas. He was a Veteran of World War II, and retired after many years with Alamo Express. Funeral services for Tessie B. Fields, 75, of Bay City, will be held at 11 am Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999 at Mother Zion Baptist Church in Bay City with Rev. K. J. Griggs officiating. She will lay in state from 10 to 11 am at the church. Fields was born in Needville Feb., 7, 1032 to Spellman Routt and Sylvia Pettit and died Friday, Jan 15 at her residence in Bay City. She graduated from Needville Public Schools, then she attended the International Business College of Nursing. She was employed at Matagorda General Hospital until 1978. Fields was a member of Mother Zion Baptist Church were she served faithfully. She also sang in the choir and served with the Missionary Society. Melvin T. Findley, was born on October 15, 1942, and left this earth on January 2, 2016, in Round Rock, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Marion Findley; mother, Myra Helen Combs Findley; and sister, June Findley Ashcraft. Mel is survived by his wife, Linda Manning Findley; his son, Jason Findley; daughter-in-law, Alyssa Foley; grandson, Dashiell Findley; granddaughter, Vivian Findley; his daughter, Leita Findley-Stewart; son-in-law, Dwayne Stewart; granddaughter, Mackayla Stewart; grandson, Baine Stewart; his brother, Archie Lee Findley; sister-in-law, Lynda Jean Findley; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Mel worked for Brown and Root for 27 years, and was able to experience new cultures while living in Bahrain, Scotland and Korea, and traveling all over the world. Mel had a passion for cars, motorcycles, animals and most of all, family. He was kind, generous, and he will be greatly missed. Mel requested that everyone send a donation to the charity of their choosing, instead of flowers.

William “Bill” Fike of Pearland passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015. Bill was born in Forrest, Mississippi on February 13, 1954 to the late Bobbie Ray and Sarah McLeod Fike. Bill was a teacher and a coach. Bill worked as a computer security specialist. Bill was a loving father, husband, and friend to many people. A resident of Palacios for 65 years, he was born November 20, 1889, a son of Carlos and Isabel Garcia Flores, in Brownsville, Texas. He died at his home at 308 Ninth Street, Friday, August 25. Mrs. Nannie Fondon passed away at her residence, 509 West Live Oak Street, in Port Lavaca, early Sunday morning. Mrs. Fondon is survived by her husband, Mr. J. W. Fondon, formerly of Blessing, now residing in Port Lavaca. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 6:30 at the Hawley Cemetery with Rev. The body of Oscar Fraley, Camp Hulen private, who died early Monday in the Station Hospital as a result of a basal skull fracture suffered when he was struck by an automobile Saturday night, was shipped to his home in Greenup, Ky., Tuesday. The body was accompanied by Pvt. George M. Browning of the same organization. According to witnesses of the accident, Private Fraley and two other soldiers were walking toward Camp on Main street in the 300 block when they were struck by a car, the driver of which was said to have been blinded by a misting rain and the lights of a passing car. A board of officers has been appointed at Camp Hulen to investigate the accident but has not as yet completed its investigation. Officials at Camp Hulen refused to give the names of the men who were with Fraley at the time of the accident, but it is reported they were not seriously hurt. Scratches, bruises and shock were said to be their injuries.

Robert “Bobby” Milton Franks Jr., 82, of Watsonville, California, formerly of Bay City, Texas, passed away December 28, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. James Arthur Collins; maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Hugh B. Douglas of Palacios; and sons, David Allen Franks and Douglas Arthur Franks. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Shaw Franks of Watsonville, California; daughter, Carol Rae Franks Harner, son, Michael John Franks and grandson, Steven Albert Harner, all of Salinas, California; sister, Jeanne Collins Hibbard of Nacogdoches, Texas; brother, James Arthur Collins Jr. of Durango, Colorado; and cousin, William P. Douglas of Bay City, Texas. Bobby Collins grew up in Bay City and graduated from Bay City High School in 1950 when he was 16 years old. He went to college at A&I in Kingsville, Texas, where he majored in journalism, because of the direct influence that Carey Smith, the Publisher and Editor of the Bay City Tribune, had on his young life. Mr. Smith was his boss, his mentor and his hero. Bobby, first was employed as a paper delivery boy, but soon Mr. Smith taught him to shoot and develop photographs, and then he taught him how to write for a newspaper. He even let Bobby use his own camera, as seen in the photo. When Bobby graduated from college at 20 years old, and received his commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, he entered the Signal Corps and continued to use the skills he had learned as an apprentice to Carey Smith. Upon his retirement from the service, he became a teacher in Salinas, California.

Patsy Frances McKissick (Keszler, Ellis) Frick, 76, passed into Heaven, Sunday, March 29, 2015. She is survived by her sons, Patrick Keszler of Victoria, Charles “Bubba” Frick of Markham, Joe Frick and Otto Frick; as well as her precious granddaughter, Patricia “Trisha” Keszler of Atlanta, Georgia; and brother, Jimmy McKissick of Midfield, Texas. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, George Boone Jr and Frances Vacek McKissick; her brother, Walter B. McKissick; and her husband, J.O. Frick. Patsy was born in Ashby, Texas on May 18, 1938. She was a graduate of Tidehaven High School, where she was active in sports, played bass saxophone, was a cheerleader, and participated in various clubs. She later received her cosmetology license in Houston. Patsy loved her family, life and animals. She never met a stranger. She raised and showed Dachshunds, Terriers, Shepherds and Rottweilers. During her life, Patsy traveled to California, Africa, Greece, Malta, the Arab States and through Europe. As an entrepreneur/business woman, Patsy managed several clubs, owning one with her parents, where she enjoyed her music and dancing. Patsy and late husband, J.O. Frick, businessman/rice farmer, opened Tin Top General Store in Collegeport, Texas. Patsy loved the water, the beach and boating. She enjoyed hunting in Mexico, West Texas and the hill country. Having discovered her talent as an artist and crafter, Patsy liked traveling and socializing in the artist/merchant realm. Patsy was always concerned, and cared for others. She trusted in Jesus to take care of her while she looked after the concerns of others. Her last two years in a nursing/rehabilitation center were spent enjoying the residents around her and playing bingo and dominos. If you wanted to experience unconditional love, you need only get close to her. Her love, smile and care will be greatly missed.
