Frances B. Abendroth, 81, of Bay City
died February 27, 2002 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.
She was born April 30, 1920 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to the late
A. J. and Georgia Dunn Ashley. Mrs. Abendroth was a member of St.
Paul's United Methodist Church, a resident of the Bay City area
since 1956, and a member of the Social Order of Beauceant, Knights
Templar.
Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Charles F.
Skelly of Van Vleck; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Linda Kay
Abendroth of Bay City; brother, James Ashley of Dunn Loring,
Virginia; grandchildren, James M. Abendroth of Plano, Kimberly B.
Skelly of Houston, and Ahley Paul Abendroth of Bay City. She was
preceded in death by her husband O'Farrell Abendroth and two
sisters, Barbara LeFeverve and Charlotte Duncan.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2002 at Taylor
Bros. Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Morgan officiating. Interment
followed at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers were: Milton Charanza, Kenneth Howle, E.J. Hickl, Jim
Palmer, Dennis A. Ward, and Bobby W. Kellum.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, P. o.
Box 587, Bay City, TX 77404.

Mrs. Edna M. Adams, 75, of Bay
City died March 31, 1979 at Matagorda General Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters Mrs. Frances M. (Crickett) Hall
of Bay City and Mrs. Peggy Rademaker of Carlsbad, New Mexico;
son-in-law, Clinton G. Hall of Bay City; sister, Florence Metz
of Houston; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral
services will be held April 3 at 10:30 am at Calvary Baptist
Church with Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Interment will be
at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck with pallbearers being:
Greg Cotton, Bob Deleon, Mike Grogan, Ross Cole, Cliff Rademeker,
and Clint Hall.

Mr. Allen, 78, was born
Jan. 7, 1905. He died in his home on Dec. 22, 1983. He was
survived by one son, James M. Allen of Bay City and two
grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers,
contributions can be made to the Memorial Book Fund of the Bay
City Public Library.
Burial will be in Roselawn
Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Taylor Brothers Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.

Rosa Mae Walker Allen, 95, of Cedar Lane
passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004, at The Legacy in Bay City.
Mrs. Allen was born in Altair, TX October 11, 1908 to the late Lee
Roy and Rosa Lee Bryan Walker. She was a charter member of the First
United Methodist Church of Van Vleck and of the Methodist Woman's
Society where she held various offices during her active years.
In 1919, her family moved to the Cedar Lane, TX area where she lived
most of her life. She graduated from Bay City High School in 1942
before enrolling in Southwest Texas Teachers College in San Marcos,
TX. After attending college, she returned to Matagorda Co. where she
taught four grades in the Prairie Center two-room school house, near
Blessing, for two years. When she married Clarence Allen in 1932,
she left Prairie Center for Riceville, a one- room school near
Wadsworth, to teach three more years before she decided to fulfill
her ambition to be a full-time homemaker. After her children were
grown, her love of teaching called her back to the classroom for a
short tenure at Van Vleck Elementary School. She was an unselfish,
loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose
strength and faith in God taught by example what it means to live a
Christian life. She will be dearly missed by those whose lives she
touched during her 95 years on the earth.
Survivors include her children: Peggy Ottis and husband George "Geep"
of West Columbia, Richard Allen and wife Carol of Bay City, Mary Lee
Allen of San Antonio, and Jerry Allen and wife Lynell of West
Columbia; 4 grandchildren: Chris Ottis of Brazoria, Letisha "Tish"
Ottis Berryman and husband Joel of Round Rock, Cullen Allen and wife
Shelley of Gibsonia, PA, and Daryl Allen and wife Sheryl of Fort
Worth; 4 great-grandchildren: Ryan, Kyle, Robbie, and Lynette Allen;
brother: Samuel Walker of Lake Jackson; sister-in-law: Mollie Walker
of Sweeny; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her husband Clarence R. Allen in 1980, and by two sisters
and 3 brothers.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at
Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Cullen Allen and Linda
Maxey officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park
Cemetery in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers will be Chris Ottis, Daryl Allen, Joe Berryman, Ray
Walker, Terry Walker, and Bryan Shannon. Honorary pallbearers will
be Dr. James E. Cowart, MD, Rosa Mae's primary care physician for
forty-eight years; Imogene Acklin, her college roommate who has
remained a dear friend for seventy-six years; Dan and Charlean
O'Connell, Johnny Werlla, Martha Lacy, and the devoted staff of The
Legacy.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at
Taylor Bros. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist
Church, P.O. Box 497, Van Vleck, TX 77482, or to a charity of

Mildred Jane Leslie Allison
The angels delivered Mildred Jane Leslie
Allison, 86, home to our Lord at 12:40 p.m., Feb. 17, 2000, at her
home surrounded by the family that loves her.
Mrs. Allison was born August 1, 1913 in Paris, Texas to the late
Edward P. and Florence Leslie. A resident of Bay City for 45 years,
she was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church during that
time. Mildred and her late husband, Joe Allison, who died Sept. 1,
1995, raised their six cheldren in a home strengthened by the values
and teachings of the Catholic Church.
Mildred and Joe's love created a family that prayed and played
together. Her greatest gifts to her children were unwavering
support, wisdom and the knowledge that life is a gift to be
celebrated. It was important to Mildred to contribute time and
energy to her church and community. During the time that her
children attended Holy Cross Catholic School, she was a member of
the PTA and the Ladies' Altar Society.
Mildred was a good and loyal friend who enjoyed the times spent with
her friends in the Garden Club and the Ladies Golf Association. As a
supporter of the arts, she worked to bring artistic performances to
Bay City through the Festival Arts Association. Mildred took pride
in her status as a Daughter of the American Revolution, which she
shared with her surviving sister, Alice Parks and Alice's daughters,
Jane Park and Susan Eiteljorg.
Mildred is survived by: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael
and Kay Allison, Charles and Linda Allison and Robert Allison all of
Bay City; by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jo Ann Allison of
Moylan, Pa. Mary Jane and Chuck Carlisle of Alice, Texas and Carolyn
and Allen Fanshier of Victoria; by a brother and sister-in-law, Ed
and Norma Leslie of Oklahoma City, Okla; sister and brother-in-law,
L. B. and Alice Park of Midland, Texas; 15 grandchildren and three
great grandchildren, Susan and her husband Tommy Phillips and their
children Zachary and Joshua of Bay City, Scott and Jody Allison and
their son Clay of Dillon, Montana, Chris and Katie Allison of East
Bernard, Joe Allison of Bay City, Elizabeth and Johathan Miller of
Moylan, Pa., Leslie Allison of Houston, Allison, Daniel, David and
Robert Carlisle of Alice, Saundra, Lauren and Sarah Fanshier all of
Victoria.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, at Taylor Bros. Funeral
Home Chapel and the funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb.
19, 2000, at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Revs. Casey
Jarzombek and Robert Matzinger officiating. Burial will follow at
Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers will be: Chuck Carlisle, Allen Fanshier, Tommy Phillips,
Joe Allison, Daniel and David Carlisle and Jonathan Miller.
Honorary Pallbearers will include: Sasan Phillips, Leslie Allison,
Robert Carlisle, Saundra, Lauren and Sarah Fanshier and Elizabeth
Miller.

Vencil Albert Andel, 77, of Cedar Lane,
died September 28, 2003, at Plaza Specialty Hospital in Houston. He
was born September 19, 1926 in East Bernard, Texas to the late John
and Amelia Vrazel Andel.
He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, a resident of Cedar
Lane for the past 52 years, served in the U.S. Army, and was a
member of the American Legion Post No. 11, Bay City.
Survivors include: his wife, Hattie Cykala Andel of Cedar Lane;
daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Ronnie Woolsey of Cedar Lane,
Georgia, and Lee Weathers of Buckeye; son and daughter-in-law, Danny
and Lois Andel of Cedar Lane; sisters, Josephine Wetz, Dorothy
Peters and Mary Lipinski, all of Needville, and Millie Schiller of
Sealy; four grandchildren, Danny Woolsey and wife LeeAnn and Jon
Woolsey, all of Cedar Lane, Heather Andel of Houston, and Stephen
Weathers and wife Michelle of Buckeye; one great-grandchild, Madison
Woolsey of Cedar Lane.
He was preceded in death by two infant sisters, and brothers, Louis,
Ed, Joe, August, Frank, John, Ben and Bill Andel.
Rosary was held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at Taylor
Bros. Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic
Church, with the Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van
Vleck.

of Bay City died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 9, 1917
in Carthage, South Dakota to parents Arvid and Pearl Albenson
Anderson. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, a
49-year member of the American Legion Post #11, served in the
Army; in the WWII and the Korean War, retired from Phillip’s
Petroleum Company and was a 50-year resident of Bay City.
He was preceded in death
by his wife, Nell C. Anderson, May 24, 1994. Survivors are
sister, Helen Davis of Whitewood, South Dakota, nieces and
nephews. Graveside funeral services was Monday, Feb. 24 at 2 pm
at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck with Rev Eric Klimpel of
St Peter’s Lutheran Church officiating.

Rhoda Talbot Anderson, 88, of Bay City
died June 5, 2003 at Matagorda General Hospital.
She was born May 6, 1915 in Lafayette, LA to the late Alexander and
Theresa Talbot. Mrs Anderson was a long time resident of Bay City
and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law: Phillip & Kim Anderson of
Grapevine, TX; brother: Charles Talbot of Sugar Land, TX;
granddaughter: Rebecca Anderson of Grapevine.
She was preceded in death by her husband Orel Anderson; sistsr:
Beulah Talbot Thibeaux; and brothers Eli Talbot and Lawrence Talbot.

BAY CITY- George Roy Ardeneaux, 50, of
Bay City died Tuesday, July 22, 2003.
He was born October 1, 1942, in Texarkana, to Lee Roy and Montrose
Dunbar Ardeneaux. He worked as an electroplater for 13 years at Red
River Army Depot and he was an ASA Umpire. He was a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Survivors: wife, Diana Tweedle Ardeneaux; daughters, Montie Marie
and Amanda Lynn Ardeneaux, both of Bay City; son, George Robert
Ardeneaux of Waupaca, Wis.; brothers, Raymond Lee Ardeneaux of
Garland and David Wayne Ardeneaux of Sallisaw, Okla.; and one
granddaughter.
Family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Friday at Taylor Bros. Funeral
Home chapel.

Mrs. Arlitt was born Aug.
28, 1927 in Liverpool, England and died Feb 27, 1984 at Matagorda
General Hospital.

Houston and Linda Black of Bay City; two sons, Fritz of Houston and
John of Bay City; four sisters, all in Liverpool; six grandchildren.

Funeral services for Charles Luther
"Pete" Arnold, a resident of Bay City for 43 years, were held
Saturday, August 7, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist
Church in Bay City with the Rev. Pauline Harvey and Rev. Don Storey
officiating.
Interment followed at the Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
Pete was born in San Augustine, Texas on November 26, 1922 to
parents, Bill and Sarah Jane Bodine Arnold and he passed away at his
residence in Bay City on August 4, 2004 at the age of 82.
He was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church
since 1961, serving in many areas of leadership. He was Charge Lay
Leader and Chairman of the Trustees for the church for many years.
In March of 2003, his church honored him with a "Pete Arnold Day" in
recognition of his many contributions of service. He was also very
active in the community serving as a member of Masonic Lodge A.F. &
A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies of Galveston, a leader of the
Methodist Youth Organization (MYF), a board member of the Girl
Scouts Camp Pierce Building Board and president of the Bay City High
School Band Parents Association from 1972 to 1974. He was a loving
husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Gilbert,
Oren Robert and Billy Gene.
He is survived: by his wife of 49 years, Sally Sparks Arnold of Bay
City, a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Eddie Ammons of Sugar
Land, Texas, a daughter, Allison Arnold of Portland, Texas, a
brother, Bill Arnold Jr. of Houston, Texas, and two grandchildren,
Ashley and Chip Arnold of Sugar Land.
Friends who served as pallbearers included Wayne Michael, Dan Wendt,
Charles Teutsch, George Durett, Mike Wade and J.N. McDonald. Members
of the Masonic Lodge #865 of Bay City provided the graveside
services and the members of the Friendship Class of First United
Methodist Church served as Honorary Pallbearers.
The Arnold family would like to express their deepest love and
appreciation to the many friends and neighbors who gave such loving
and generous support during Pete's illness.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church building
fund, the American Cancer Society or the Hospice Support, Inc.

Rosalie Ann “Sally” Arnold was born November 12, 1932 in Ashmore,
Illinois and passed away February 23, 2023 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
While employed by Sun Oil Co. in Beaumont, Texas, she met the love
of her life, Charles “Pete” Arnold, and they were married September
17, 1955. Later she was employed by Bay City Independent School
District as a high school librarian and teacher. She earned a
Bachelor of Education and Masters of Library Science from Sam
Houston State University.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Pete Arnold;
sister, Donna Sparks; and parents, Don and Edith Sparks.
Survivors include daughter, Debbie Ammons and husband Eddie;
grandchildren, Ashley Rolin and Chip Ammons, and Allison Arnold and
spouse Lisa Morgan-Arnold; two great-grandchildren, Emersyn Rose
Ammons and Wyatt Rolin.
Sally loved to travel all over the world, read books and sing in the
church choir.
Graveside memorial services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park
in Van Vleck, Texas on March 29, 2023 at 11 a.m.

Goldie Mahon Ashcraft, 90, of Bay
City died April 4, 2002 at Herman Memorial Hospital in Houston.
She was born January 21, 1912 in Lucion Field, Texas to the late
James Lafette and Percy Anna Gilmon Edgar. Mrs. Ashcraft was a
member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a
resident of Bay City since 1930.
Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Mahon and Boyd
Smith of Bountiful, Utah, Noma Lee and Dave Slater of Alvin and
Iris Lynn Porter of Bay City; sons and daughters-in-law, Maurice
and Brenda Ashcraft of Bay City, Glenn and Sue Ashcraft of Doha
Qatar, and E.J., Jr and Karen Ashcraft of Sweeny; 26
grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 7 great great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. J.
Ashcraft, Sr.; sister Lillie Gilbert; brother, Holland Edgar,
and four grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Brent Ethington
and Dr. Joe Cannon officiating. Interment will follow at
Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will
be her grandsons, Chad Ashcraft, Maurice "Drum" Ashcraft II,
Darryl Ashcraft, Kory Ashcraft, E.J. Ashcraft, III, and Davey
Slater. Honorary pallbearers will be all her other grandsons.

Harriette June Findley Ashcraft
Harriette June Findley Ashcraft, 61,
of Bay City, died Nov. 22, 2001 at the Methodist Hospital in
Houston.
She was born Dec. 14, 1939 in Bay City to the late Archie Marion
and Myra Helen Combs Findley.
June was a lifelong resident of Bay City and a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She was a business manager for Bay City Auto and Sales for over
40 years.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Darryl Hoyt,
Sr and Jennifer Ashcraft of Winnie, Texas, and Elton Maurice
"Drum" Malynn Ashcraft, II of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter,
Kristen Leigh Ashcraft of Bay City; brothers, Archie Lee Findley
of Markham, and Melvin Thomas Findley of Temple; six
grandchildren, Chad Bailey Ashcraft of Bay City, Sarah Rochelle
Ashcraft, Morgan Reber, Elton Maurice "Buddy" Ashcraft, III of
all of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Darryl Hoyt Ashcraft, Jr. and
Dalton David Ashcraft, both of Winnie, Texas. She was preceded
in death by her daughter Anna Rochelle Ashcraft.
Funeral services was at 1 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2001 at the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Bishop Brent
Ethington and Dr. Joe Cannon officiating.
Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van
Vleck.
Pallbearers were E. J. Ashcraft, Jr., Dennis Smith, Matthew
Ramsey, Todd Barber, Gary Calvo and Troy Ashcraft. Honorary
pallbearers were Charles Hairston, Chris Barela, Don Wells, Roy
Minshew, Davie Slater, Barney Griffith and Jason Findley.

Funeral services for Mary
Reinke Ashcraft of Bay City will be held at 2 pm January 20 at
the Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Marvin
Cole, former pastor of the First United Pentecostal Church of
Bay City, officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial
Park in Van Vleck.
Mrs. Ashcraft, 83, was
born Nov. 23, 1900, in Bay City and died Jan. 18, 1984, in the
Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton. She was a lifetime
resident of Bay City and a member of the United Pentecostal
Church.
She is survived by; four
daughters, Irene A. Lehman of Bay City, Grace Anderson of Corpus
Christi, Maxine Gibson of Van Vleck and Mary McMinn of Lawton,
Okla.; three sons, Wyatt and Clyde Ashcraft of Van Vleck and
Wade Ashcraft of Bay City; 17 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be
Michael Anderson, Eric and Hoyt Gibson, John and Corlis Ashcraft
and Gordon McMinn. Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Weathers,
Pat Mulligan, John Gibson, Matt and Craig Ashcraft and Terral
Bullock. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Taylor
Brothers Funeral Home of Bay City.

Harvey R. Atkin, 76, of Bay City passed away Wednesday in
Matagorda General Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10
am Friday morning at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy
Nesbitt officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial
Park. Atkin is survived by his wife, Jo Tyburn Atkin of Bay
City, and a sister, Alta Lacy of Denison. Pallbearers will be
C. O. Middleton, Lee Davidson, John Sellers, Howard Patters, J.
R. Middleton, and Floyd Luna. Honorary pallbearers will be John
Norrell, John Rebak, Jess Baker, Dave Chapman, Albert Dodd,
Harvey Finster and Willie Arnold. Funeral services under the
direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.
