Ian Adams, 15, of Bay City passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012. He was born December 10, 1996 in Bay City to Allen Michael & Amy Beatrice Hamlin Adams. Ian was a life long resident of Bay City, and Attended School in Bay City.

He is survived by his father: Allen Michael Adams; sister: Olivia Adams; 2 brothers: Scott Sherrill and Derek Sherrill. Ian was preceded in death by his mother: Amy Beatrice Adams in 2004.

The family will receive visitors from 1:00 PM to 3 PM Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church of Bay City. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the First united Methodist Church of Bay City follow the visitation with Rev. Jeff Gantz officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.

PALACIOS - Dortha Lee Roddy Adkins, 94, of Palacios, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003.

She was born May 18, 1909, in Kaufman County, to the late Filmore and Molly Roddy. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors: daughter, Frances Taylor of Palacios.

Preceded in death by: husband, Bryan "Red" Adkins.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Palacios Funeral Home chapel.

ORANGE - Lydia Markwardt Wickham Adkins, 98, of Orange, formerly of Palacios, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005.

She was born March 8, 1907, in Malone, to the late William and Lena Schultz Markwardt. She was member and organist for Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, a member of the Lutheran Ladies Missionary League, a member of the Home Demonstration Club, a former member of Grace Lutheran Church, and a member of the Community Church in Orange.

Survivors: daughters, Darleen Miller of Wichita, Kan., and Dorothy Brown of Orange; son, Karl Wickham of Orange; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: husbands, Karl Wickham and Nat Adkins; and daughter, Ruby Jean Wickham.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Dorman Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, the Revs. Rick Herlacher and David Berkheimer officiating.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Monday at the Palacios Cemetery. Dorman Funeral Home, Orange, 409-746-2161.

Funeral services for George Joe Aguilar Sr., 71, of Fort Myers, Fla., were held March 18, 2006 at St. Anthony's de Padua Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating. Interment was be at Palacios Cemetery.

Mr. Aguilar was born Feb. 22, 1935, in Palacios, to the late Jesus Sr. and Josephine Carrio Aguilar. He died March 5, 2005.

He was a mechanic and a Catholic.

He is survived by daughters, Naomi Aguilar of Conroe, Sherry Meek of South Houston, Elisa Garza of Beaumont, and Monica Aguilar of El Campo; sons, George Joe Aguilar Jr. of Norco, La., Johnny Wayne Aguilar of Calera, Ala., Louis Anthony Aguilar Sr. of La Place, La. and Ernest Rene Aguilar of Pasadena; sisters, Mary Garcia of Palacios, Charlotte DeLeon of Falfurrias, and Lupe Young of Arlington; brothers, Jesus "Jessie" Aguilar Jr. of Harvey, La., Julius Aguilar of Palacios, Mike Aguilar of Marrero, La. and Victor Aguilar of Arlington; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers Johnnie Aguilar and Patricio "Patrick" Aguilar.

Yolanda Zepeda Aguilar passed away on Dec. 4, 2012. Yolanda was born on February 21, 1954 in Bay City, Texas to Isaac and Dolores Arias Zepeda Sr. She is survived by her husband Joe Aguilar , her sons, Lonnie Aguilar , Joe Aguilar Jr., Jeremiah Aguilar and Ronnie Aguilar; her daughters, Crystal Gonzales Aguilar and Tonya Marie Hernandez; her daughters-in-law, Kimberely Aguilar and Virginia Alameda; her grandchildren, Michell Abagail Aguilar, Jeweleanna Aguilar, Christina Marie Hernandez and Joe Aguilar lll. PALACIOS - Benito Aguilera, 89, of Palacios, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003.

He was born March 21, 1914, in Mexico, to the late Pedro and Dominga Sanchez Aguilera.

Survivors: wife, Guadalupe Aguilera; daughters, Linda Zavala of Palacios, Guadalupe Acevedo and Consuelo Juarez, both of Minnesota, Gloria Lopez and Margarita Arroyo, both of Eagle Pass, and Idalia Patino of Uvalde; sons, Gonzalo Aguilera and Jesus Aguilera, both of Eagle Pass, Juan Aguilera of Palacios, Benito Aguilera Jr. of Hitchcock, Angel Aguilera and Jose Aguilera, both of Bay City; sister, Magdalena Aguilera of Mexico; brother, Pedro Aguilera of Seminole; 56 grandchildren; and 57 great-grandchildren.

A prayer service will be 6:30 p.m. tonight and Tuesday at Palacios Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel.

Octavio Asocar Alamia, 78, of Palacios died August 7, 2001 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

He was born October 16, 1922 in Gulf, Texas to the late Julio Alamia, Sr., and Marguerita Asocar Alamia.

Mr. Alamia was a longtime resident of Palacios and was a veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Army.

Survivors include: wife, Lorenza Morales Alamia of Palacios; three daughters, Estella Alamia and Alfa Flores both of Palacios, Pie Brangan and husband Keith of San Antonio; two step-daughters, Mary Duran and husband Gilbert of Palacios, Isabel Garcia and husband Noe of San Antonio; two step-sons: Jesse Alvarez and wife Kelly of Palacios and Tony Alvarez and wife Loraine of Palacios; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ellen Hebert and Didia Morales; brothers, Gantran Alamia and Arthur Alamia; and by two granddaughters, Valisa and Devine Flores.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2001, at the Palacios Funeral Home.

The funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating. Interment will follow at Palacios Cemetery.

Funeral services for Dorothy Ann Allen of Bay City will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at the Nichols Street Church of Christ, with Bro. Carl Etchinson, officiating.

Betty Allgaier, 63, of Markham passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. She was born on December 9, 1938 in San Saba, Texas to parents Robert Merritt and Marie Lee Doris Chapman.

She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Bay City and was active in the W.M.U. and Women's Bible Study Group.

She is survived by her husband, Ben H. Allgaier, Jr. of Markham; sons and daughter-in-law, Benny Allgaier of San Antonio, Michael and Charlotte Allgaier of Bay City; daughter, Susan Allgaier of Bay City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Kathryn Chapman of San Angelo and Ray and Linda Chapman of San Angelo; sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Leslie Tyler of Ganado, Linda and Robert Blakeney of Port Lavaca and Ruth Cummings of Severna Park, Maryland; grandchildren, Heather, Cody and Carrie Allgaier.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services were scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 at the First Baptist Church in Bay City with the Dr. Michael Zimmerman officiating. Interment followed at Midfield Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Sidney Newson, Chris Emerson, Alan Fitzpatrick, Thomas Tyler and Phillip Tyler. Members of the Adult III Sunday school class at First Baptist of Bay City will be the honorary pallbearers.

Candelaria “LaLa” Alvarado, went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 15, 2013. Candelaria was born in McAllen, Texas on October 8, 1926 to the late Jose and Teofila Salazar Gonzalez. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church who loved her church-family. She was born Oct. 28, 1913, in Alabama, to the late Walter B. and Leona Wright Kilgore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors: daughter, Betty Griffith of Port Lavaca; sister, Vera Lou Spraberry of Marshall; brother, Lewis Kilgore of Woodsboro; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preston E. Anderson

(March 13, 1926 - January 12, 2013)

Preston E. Anderson, 86, of Bay City passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013. He was born on March 13, 1926 in Bellville, TX to the late Rueben Ransley & Elenora Franks Anderson. Preston served his country in the U. S. Army during WWII stationed in India.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years: Patsy Anderson; daughter: Debbie Frick & husband Michael; grandchildren: Nora Gardner & husband Jimmie, Jonathon Frick & wife Jennifer, Brent Anderson, Blake Anderson & wife Linda, Cody Anderson & wife Savanah; 7 great grandchildren; 18 step great grandchildren; sister: Juanita Joines; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. Preston was preceded in death by his parents; son: Winston Eugene Anderson; brother: W. O. “Buddy” Anderson; and sister: Reba Brown.

She was born July 6, 1924, in San Vicente, to the late Jose A. and Romana Salinas Gonzales. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Fannie Boone Armelin

Funeral services for Fannie Armelin, 82, of Bay City, are scheduled for 11 a. m. Saturday at Tyree Chapel A. M. E. with the Rev. Roy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery in Bay City.

Mrs. Armelin was born June 2, 1911, in Lynville to Hampton and Carrie Rose Boone and died May 30, 1994, in Matagorda House. She was a member of the Methodist church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Amaranth Court.

Survivors include three daughters, Lois A. Armelin of Bay City, Carrie Metoyer and Brenda Armelin, both of Houston; three sons, Wellington, Hampton and Roy Armelin, all of Houston; three sisters, Erma Stevens, Naomi Young and Lottie Witherspoon, all of Bay City; three brothers-in-law, Dave Young, and Andrew Witherspoon, both of Bay City and Reginald Armelin of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Lucille Jordan of Waco; a son-in-law, Reginald Metoyer of Houston; a daughter-in-law, Vernita Armelin of Houston; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Floyd White, John Paul Davis, Andrew Caldwell, E. H. Allen, Sammie Wright and Marshall Whitley Jr.

Martin "Marty" Armstrong
(August 9, 1927 - December 15, 2012)

Martin Diethelm “Marty” Armstrong, 85, of Bay City was Born in Toledo, Ohio on August 9, 1927, to William Robert and Francis Brown Tait Armstrong, he died December 15, 2012, in Bay City, Texas, following a brief illness.

Marty began his military career in 1944, at the age of 16, by joining the United States Merchant Marines. At age 18, he joined the United States Army. He served his country during WWII, the Korean Conflict, and in various capacities in Germany, France and several duty stations in the United States. Finally, Marty retired from the United States Navy in 1984, having risen to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.

He married Goldia Edith Roberts on January 28, 1950, in Grand Island, Nebraska and they remained devoted to one another until her death on March 28, 2000. Together they raised four children; sons Robert Martin (Debra) of Bucyrus, Kansas; Richard Allen (Michele) of Conroe, Texas; as well as daughters Pamela Jean of Gainesville, Texas; and Linda Lea (Phillip) Fisher of Bay City, Texas.

He married Sally Joyce Heinroth in Bay City, Texas, in July 2002, and they were constant companions until her death in 2006. With his marriage, he welcomed two additional children to his family Al (Betty) Heinroth and Celine (B.J.) Krenek.

Marty had a wonderful sense of humor and those who knew him could always count on hearing one of his jokes. He strived to enrich the lives of his family and everyone he came in contact with. He was an inspiration; a role model to his children, grandchildren and his extended family. A truly giving person; in his later years, he donated his time and talents to his community. A gifted musician, he played his music for God, entertaining the congregation at his church, the community at Gospel Music Jamborees and as a member of the Medicare Band playing for the the elderly and infirmed in Nursing Facilities in Bay City. His bright tenor voice now sings in God’s choir in Heaven.

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge #232 and was a Life Member of the Phillip H. Parker VFW Post 2438 of Bay City. He is preceded in death by his parents, two wives, and 7 siblings.

In addition to his children, he is survived by 15 grandchildren Michael (Courtney) Gregg, William (Courtney) Gregg, Mickie (C.J.) Jones, Marty (Sara) Armstrong, Patricia (Ralf) Kraus, James Armstrong, Melanie (Brett) Ashcraft, Jonathan (Becky) Armstrong, Eric Armstrong, Sean (Jennifer) McFarlin, Mandy (Dwayne) Zatopek, Phillip (Stephanie) Fisher, Abigail Armstrong, Sarah Armstrong, and Richard Armstrong , 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as many dear friends.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, December 21, 2012, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at Bay City Funeral Home; 2205 Avenue K, Bay City, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church; 3102 5th Street, Bay City, Texas, with Masonic and VFW graveside services to follow at Cedarvale North Cemetery.

Paula Ruth Arnold, 65, of Bay City passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012. She was born June 29, 1947 in Bay City to the late Edwin Jacob & Annie Ruth Mangum Arnold. Paula was a life long resident of Bay City, a Hair Dresser, and a good friend to all who knew her.

She is survived by her 2 brothers: B.G. (Ret.) Edwin J. Arnold Jr. of Sanford North Carolina and Robert Arnold of Austin; nieces & nephews: Michelle Jett, Angela Holcombe, Kia Hugghins, David Landry, James Landry, and Cheri Cable. Paula was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lorna Jean Landry, and brother Calvin Leonard Arnold.
