Led by Yvonne Evans
7th Grade History Teacher

Assisted by
Matagorda County Historical Commission

Students in Yvonne Evans' 7th Grade Texas History classes at O. H. Herman Middle School in Van Vleck ISD participated in a Texas History Field Trip around Matagorda County on November 18, 2010. Students toured sites in Caney, Bay City, Blessing, Collegeport and Matagorda. Mrs. Evans had participated in a similar tour in her 7th Grade year at McAllister Junior High School in Bay City. She wanted her students to learn more about history in their own backyards, especially since Matagorda County played such an important role in the early history of Texas.
