Funeral services will be held for Asa Horace “Tinker” Yeamans, 81, 2:30 p. m. Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church. Officiating at the services will be the Rev. Jack Lowery. Yeamans died April 12, 1982 at Bay Villa Nursing Home. Survivors include: wife, Mrs. Bernice Yeamans of Matagorda; daughter, Phyllis Culver of Matagorda; son, Asa H. of Alvin, Neil and Douglas of Aransas Pass; sisters, Mrs. Amanda Raymond, Mrs. Annie Dunbar and Mrs. Tessie Duderstadt of Bay City, Mrs. Mollie Bell Miller of Wadsworth and Mrs. Margaret Pickel of Zapata; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church and a descendant of a pioneer family of Matagorda that settled there in 1829. Burial will follow services at Matagorda Cemetery. Asa H. Yeamans, Jr., 75, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010. He was born December 19, 1935, in Bay City, Texas. He and his wife, Verna had been married for 52 years. They lived in Alvin, Texas, for 30 years prior to moving to Rockport in 1994. They are members of First United Methodist Church in Rockport and partners with their son, James, in Calm Harbor Real Estate. Asa was active in civic and public affairs, served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors of the Friends of Fulton Mansion, Board of Directors of Texas Maritime Museum and President of the Rockport Area Association Realtors. Asa also served on the Aransas County Historical Commission and on the State Board of Insurance Windstorm Advisory Committee at the appointment of Governor Rick Perry. His parents, Asa and Bernice Yeamans; brother, Neil Yeamans; and sister, Phyllis Culver, preceded Asa in death. He is survived by his wife, Verna Yeamans of Rockport; two sons, Stephen (Pamela) Yeamans of Austin, Texas and James Yeamans of Rockport; daughter, Janet Wirt of Rocklin, California; brother, Doug (Shirley) Yeamans of Aransas Pass, Texas; and six grandchildren, Asa Yeamans, Callie Yeamans, Sloan Smith, Lizette Smith, Jill Wirt and Jennifer Wirt. Visitation will be held from noon until 9 p. m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010, with the family present from 5:30 until 6:30 p. m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home, Rockport. Funeral services for Bernice Yeamans, 84, of Matagorda, are scheduled for 2 p. m. Monday at Christ Episcopal Church in Matagorda with the Rev. Karl Choate officiating. Burial will follow at the Matagorda Cemetery. Mrs. Yeamans was born Aug. 24, 1909 in Delavan, Ill. to Katherine Wittrig and John Augsburger and died Jan. 28, 1994 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston. As a child, she moved to Sweeny from Illinois. After graduating from West Columbia High School at age 15, she moved to Bay City and worked as a nurse for Dr H. H. Loos. She married Douglas Yeamans of Matagorda on Dec. 20, 1928. He died from an accidental fall at Texas Gulf Sulfur in Old Gulf on Feb. 19, 1932. She married Asa “Tinker” Yeamans on Sept. 12, 1933. A resident of Matagorda since 1928, Mrs. Yeamans was a devoted and active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Matagorda, where she served as an Altar Guild member and was a church organist for 40 years. Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Yeamans Culver of Matagorda; three sons and daughters-in-law; Douglas and Shirley Yeamans and Neil and Frances Yeamans, all of Aransas Pass, and Asa H. and Verna Yeamans of Alvin; three sisters, Mabel Spellmeyer of Springfield, Ill., Kathryn Gupton of West Columbia and Helen Thornton of Temple; five sisters-in-law, Jodie Augsburger of Houston, Tessie Duderstadt of Bay City, Mollie Bell Miller of Boling, Thelma Dellis of Bay City and Mary Baxter of Matagorda; 11 grandchildren Suzanne Culver, Jennifer Culver Klaiber, Jami Culver Malone, Jeannie Culver Hinton, Ronnie Yeamans, Becky Yeamans Hutchins, Aleisha Yeamans Feldt, Eileen Yeamans Tavassoli, Stephen Yeamans, Janet Yeamans Wirt and James Yeamans; and 13 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are her grandsons, James Yeamans, Stephen Yeamans, Ronnie Yeamans, Craig Hinton, Steve Malone, Tom Klaiber and David Hutchins. Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandsons. Funeral services for Christine Yeamans, 91, of New Gulf were scheduled for 2:30 p. m. today at the Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Richard E. Grant officiating. Burial was to follow at Matagorda Cemetery. Mrs. Yeamans was born Feb. 19, 1900, in Port Lavaca and died Dec. 16, 1991, at the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton. A former resident of Matagorda, she had lived in New Gulf since 1937. She was affiliated with the Episcopal church. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia McVey of Iago; two grandmothers, Pam Moss of Fairchilds and Vicki Brod of Boling; and four great-grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Moss and William and April Brod. Yeamans, Mrs. Hazel Bruce, 58, died at Matagorda General Hospital this morning. Funeral services will be held at 4 p. m. Tuesday at the First Methodist Church in Matagorda with the Rev. Jim Cross officiating. Burial will be in Matagorda Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, James R. Yeamans Sr. of Matagorda; a daughter, Mrs. Jeannie Baxter of Matagorda; two sons, Joe Yeamans and James Robert Yeamans of Matagorda, and three grandchildren. Mrs. Yeamans was a lifetime resident of Matagorda and was a member of the First Methodist Church there. Taylor Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Robert Yeamans, 71, who started a commercial seafood business in Matagorda 30 years ago, succumbed Sunday in the Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. Yeamans was a respected member of the Matagorda fishing community. He started out as a simple self employed fisherman. His business became so successful after 10 years that he was able to expand it to include a seafood processing plant. His business remained a family business with Yeamans and his two sons Jimmy and Joe in charge of management. More recently his sons expanded the family business to include a restaurant. Yeamans recently had retired and spent his time researching the history of Matagorda as he was an avid historian and lifelong resident of Matagorda. His work was not yet published at the time of his death. Yeamans, a civic minded resident of Matagorda, was one of the citizens responsible for the construction of the levee. Yeamans was a graduate of the old Old Gulf High School. He was married to the former Miss Hazel Bruce who preceded him in death 10 years ago. Funeral rites will be held Tuesday from the Matagorda Methodist Church with interment at the Matagorda Cemetery.

Wayne E. Yeamans, 70, of Matagorda passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013. He was born July 25, 1943 in Bay City to the late Woodrow Yeamans Sr. & Trilby Bond. Wayne was a life long resident of Matagorda. He was employed by Matagorda County Precinct 2, and Colorado River Locks for 31 years. Wayne was very active in the Matagorda community through various charitable groups. He was a member of the Matagorda Volunteer Fire dept. and served on the Matagorda ISD School Board. Wayne enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, visiting with friends at his barn “Wayne’s Place”, and performing in the band, “Big W. and the Crystals.” He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Karen Yeamans of Matagorda; 4 children: Cheryl Yeamans of Matagorda; Beth Yeamans of Matagorda; Doug & Amy Yeamans of Boling, and Greg & Pam Yeamans of Wadsworth; and sister: Debra Bradley of Smithville. Wayne was preceded in death by his father: Woodrow Yeamans Sr.; mother: Trilby Bond; sisters: Bobbie Smith and Katherine Roberts; and brother: Woodrow Yeamans Jr. Family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, November 15, 2013 at the funeral home. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church of Matagorda with Rev.Virgil Ichtertz officiating. Interment will follow at Matagorda Cemetery. Funeral services for Woodrow Wilson Yeamans, 78, of Matagorda will be held 10 a. m. Tuesday at Christ Episcopal Church in Matagorda with the Rev. Herb Willke officiating. Burial will follow at Matagorda Cemetery. Mr. Yeamans was born Feb. 1, 1913, to Phillip Jr. and Emma Louise Gottschalk Yeamans in Matagorda and died July 27, 1991, at Matagorda General Hospital. A lifelong resident of Matagorda, he was a member of the Episcopal church. Survivors include three daughters, Katherine L. Roberts, Bobbie A. Smith and Deborah Jean Bradley, all of Houston; a son, Wayne E. Yeamans of Matagorda; two sisters, Thelma Dellis of Bay City and Mary Stallings Baxter of Matagorda; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Woodrow Wilson Yeamans Jr., who died in 1962. Pallbearers are George Deshotels, Craig Yeamans, Albert Smith, Roger Sawyer, Wayne Bradley and Larry Anderson.
