Albert Lamar Gibson, 82, of 1800 13th St. in Bay City, died Nov 16, 1976 in Matagorda General Hospital. He was born Dec. 18, 1892 in Galveston. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Buddy Broughton of Bay City; one niece, Miss Laura Broughton and one nephew, Webb Broughton of Beaumont. He retired 17 years ago from Central Power and Light Co. where he was warehouse superintendent in Laredo. He was a member of the Methodist Church and was a 50 year life member of Bay City Masonic Lodge 865. Services will be held Thursday at 10 a. m. at the First United Methodist Church in Matagorda. Rev. W. D. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Matagorda Cemetery. Pallbearers will be F. F. Wilson, Walter Wilkinson, Jack Ellerkamp, Walter Calhoun, Courtney Grover, George Dearman, Gordon Hardegree and Ramon Johnson. Services under the direction of Dick R. Elkins, Bay City Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mignon A. Gibson, 81, a resident of Matagorda for many years, but a resident of Danville, Calif. for the past year, died March 5, 1977 in Danville. She was born Feb. 6, 1896 in Denver, Col. Survivors include sons, Thomas A. Gibson, Jr., of Danville, Calif. and Arthur L. Gibson of Huntsville, Ala; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Matagorda Cemetery Thursday March 10 at 11 a. m. The Rev. Milton E. McWilliams will officiate. Burial will be in Matagorda Cemetery. Matagorda—Funeral services will be held here Saturday for Thomas Alvin Gibson, 75, a retired division manager and vice president of the Georgia Power Company of Augusta, Ga. Gibson died Thursday at the Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. He had been ill for eight months. Gibson had lived in Matagorda since his retirement from the power company 10 years ago after 42 years of service. Funeral services will be held at 3 P. M. Saturday in Christ Episcopal Church in Matagorda under the direction of the Bay City Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Matagorda Cemetery with graveside rites by the Matagorda Masonic Lodge Number 7. Gibson was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, the Masonic and Elks Lodges and was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mignon Arthur Gibson, and two sons, Thomas A. Gibson Jr. of Pleasanton, Calif., and Arthur Lynn Gibson of Huntsville, Ala.

Alma Darline Gilmer Alma Darline Gilmer, 67, of Matagorda, died Wednesday May 21, 1997 at Matagorda General Hospital after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 11, 1930 in Houston, to parents John Helems and Mary Alma Alexander Harman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joyce Gilmer, Oct. 26, 1996. Survivor are sons Terry Gilmer of Matagorda, Jerry Gilmer of DeRidder, Louisiana, James Marvin Gilmer of Tomball, and David Louis Gilmer, Cordova, Tennessee; daughter Sheryl Vasek of Wadsworth; sister, Mavis Anderson of California, 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 24 at 2 p. m. at the Matagorda Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Walters officiating. Burial will follow in Matagorda Cemetery. Mr. Hugh Gilmore, an employee of the Texas Gulf Sulphur Company for 31 years, died Thursday evening, December 29th, as he sat in his living room watching television. Funeral services were held in Bay City Sunday afternoon, at 2 o’clock, with the Rev. William Commer, pastor of the Matagorda Methodist Church, directing the religious rites. Burial was in the Matagorda Cemetery. Mr. Gilmore was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, January 18, 1891. He was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Mary Eva Walentachiek of Bordertown, New Jersey, and Mrs. Nancy Lee Moyer of Austin; one son, Jimmy; and two grandchildren, a nephew, Mr. S. F. Gilmore, is also an employee of the Texas Gulf Sulphur Company. The Bay City Masonic Lodge, directed the rites at the graveside. Mr. Gilmore would have been retired February 1st of this year.

Funeral services for James Douglas Gilmore, 61, were held Saturday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. W. W. Conerly of the First Methodist Church officiating. Mr. Gilmore died March 24 at Rusk. Burial was in the Matagorda Cemetery. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Mary Gibson of Houston and Mrs. Ibbie Lee McCreary of El Paso; one brother, Hugh M. The Tribune is called on today to chronicle the sad news of the sudden death of Mr. Lucian Gilmore, a prominent farmer and splendid citizen, which occurred suddenly at this home near Wadsworth last night. Mr. Gilmore was in the city Saturday on business, looking as well as usual and his death was not only a distinct shock, but a surprise to his many friends throughout this section. Mr. Gilmore was reared in the country and was the scion of an old and highly respected family. He is survived by his wife and children, to whom the sympathy of the community is extended.

Mrs. J. M. Gilmore, wife of our esteemed fellow citizen, J. M. Gilmore, died at her home near Wadsworth at 7 o’clock this morning and was buried in the Matagorda cemetery this afternoon, Rev. O. E. Vivion, of the Bay City Methodist Church officiating. Mrs. Gilmore’s death followed a stroke of apoplexy. Decedent was born and reared in Kentucky where she was married. The family came here from Bowling Green about 30 years ago. She has, for many years, been a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving her besides her husband are four boys and three girls—Lucien, Hertschell, James and Hugh, Mrs. Percy Middlebrook and Misses Mary and Ibgy. Mrs. Gilmore made many friends, all of whom loved her for her sweet disposition and Christian character. The news of the sad death of Mr. Clarence E. Gilmore reached the city last night shortly after it occurred at his home a few miles south of the city. His death was from pneumonia caused by an attack of influenza. Clarence Gilmore was an exceptional young man. Honest, energetic, a hard-worker and a successful farmer. He was a living embodiment of health and perhaps had never been confined to his bed before in his life. Strong and robust, he was a picture of perfect physique. This new ravager, this awful new form of pneumonia which follows influenza so often, however, took possession of this splendid frame and wrecked it in a very few short days. Clarence Gilmore had many friends. He was well known in Bay City and universally liked. His death is a matter of serious regret and sorrow in this city and throughout the county wherever he was known. The Tribune extends its deepest sympathy to the bereaved family. Funeral Services For Mrs. Minnie Gilmore Held In Matagorda Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Gottschalk Gilmore, 66, of Matagorda were held last Wednesday at the family home and burial was in the Matagorda Cemetery. Survivors listed are a son Stephen F. Gilmore of Newgulf; three brothers, Herbert, Henry and Arthur of Matagorda; three sisters, Mrs. W. W. Watkins of Bay City, Mrs. W. R. Davidson of Boulder, Colorado, and Miss Bertha Gottschalk of Matagorda; two granddaughters, Miss Linda Gilmore and Miss Mary Gilmore of Newgulf. She was the widow of Clarence Gilmore, who died in 1918.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nona Elizabeth Murdoch Gilmore, 88, of Amarillo will be held 3 p. m., Easter Sunday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Frank Seaman of the First Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will be in Matagorda. Mrs. Gilmore was born June 22, 1895 in Jayton, Texas and died on Good Friday afternoon (April 20, 1984). She was the daughter of Thomas E. and Eva Harris Murdoch, both deceased. The Murdochs were founding members of Jayton Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Hugh M. Gilmore, preceded her in death in 1955. Mrs. Gilmore moved to Amarillo in 1974. Survivors include: daughter, Mrs. Eugene Welenteichick, of Poland, Maine; sons, Mr. Bill Benton of Seadrift and Mr. James Gilmore, of Austin; brothers, Mr. Truman Murdoch of Jayton, Texas; sisters, Mrs. Arthur Culver of Matagorda and Mrs. Alice Ritz Smith of Bay City; five grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Jay Moyer, John Moyer, Willy Dunlavy, Tommy Dunlavy, C. L. Pray, Bob Dunlavy and Houston Scarborough. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Katina Elizabeth Moyer scholarship fund, 6121 Gainsborough, Amarillo, Texas.
