BAY CITY [Matagorda County, Texas] - Funeral services for Ralph Williams, 51, of Bay City, the son of Jessie Williams and Emily Boone Williams, who passed away Jan. 6, 2008, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Markham, with the Rev. J.C. Ashton Jr., eulogist. Burial will follow at Markham Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.

Ralph Williams

Ralph Lee Williams, the son of now the late Jessie Williams and Emily Boone Williams, was born in Markham, Texas, Tuesday, January 10, 1956. He was one of the fourteen children born to the Williams family, who shared his upbringing with siblings, relatives and friends.

He attended A. Jefferson Elementary School, and later Tidehaven High School where he graduated in 1974. Afterward, he attended Brazosport Jr. College.

Ralph accepted Christ at an early age while attending worship services with his family. He was baptized by now the late Rev. H. T. Aldridge and became a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Markham, Texas. He rededicated his life under the leadership of Rev. J. C. Ashton, Jr., and kept the faith through out life.

He was friendly to all whom he met and lived life to the fullest. By his passing, he will be greatly missed by those who shared his life here on earth.

Ralph Williams’ transition from this life came on Sunday, January 6, 2008, in Bay City, Texas, at 51 years, 11 months and 27 days. By his passing, he leaves loving memories to a devoted family consisting of four sons, Patrick Hosey of Biloxi, Mississippi, Ernest Hosey of Victoria, Texas, Byron Fisher and George RaShawn Hopes, both of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren. Also six sisters, Jessie Parr, Wanda Flagg Davis, Jeanette Williams, Hester Williams, Anna Sanders (& Johny), all of Bay City, and Rita Hines (& Morris), of Markham; and five brothers, Clydie B. Williams (& Barbara) of Austin, Texas, Carnell Williams (& Joyce) of San Antonio, Texas, Daniel Williams (& Shirley) of Bay City, Texas, Otto Williams (& Val) of Angleton, Texas, and Jeffrey Williams of Markham, Texas.

He also leaves his loving fiance’ Mary White, and six step-children, YaKirsha, Kawanda, Kasheka, Camino, Jakina and Johnny Johnson, all of Antioch, California; 17 step-grands; five aunts, Amy Coulter of Van Vleck, TX., Evelyn Williams and Annie Jean Williams, both of Houston, TX, Martha Tillmon (&Will) of Galveston, TX, and Otha Temple of Bay City, TX; two uncles, Levi Boone, Jr. (& Ruby) of Markham, TX, and Edward Lathan of Houston, TX; one great-uncle, the Rev. Melvin Leon Boone of Palacios, TX; three special friends, George Fisher of Houston, TX, Harold “Bird” Bowley of Lockhart, TX, and Bobby Cyphan of Antioch, California. Also a host of nieces and nephews, and an enormous family of other relatives and friends.

Ralph Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Williams and Emily Boone Williams, two sisters, Irene Williams and Leatha Williams Jackson and his grandparents, Levi Boone, Sr. and Irene Harrison Boone Burns, and Pink Williams and Hester Tone Williams.

Elazra Woodberry

Funeral services for Elazra Woodberry, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Mount Zion Church, in Markham, Texas, with Bishop Fred Jones, Pastor, and Elder, Kenneth Jones of Evangelist Temple, will be eulogizing.

Burial will be in Markham Cemetery, immediately after services.

Viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2015, in the chapel of Green’s Mortuary, Bay City, Texas.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Green’s Mortuary, Bay City, Texas. 979-245-3489.

Reflections

Elzara Woodberry was born February 7, 1960, in El Paso, Texas, to Richard "Dick" Eaton and Lottie Bowlegs. She attended elementary and junior high schools in the Pecos ISD. Elzara also attended high school at Tidehaven High School.

Elzara loved church and enjoyed singing for the Lord. She was a member of the following churches in the area Mount Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church, New Jerusalem COGIC, Jesus Freewill Holy Temple and Evangelistic Temple where she served until the Lord called her home.

In her spare time she loved fishing. Elzara was called home on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Matagorda Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bay City, Texas.

Elzara will be truly missed by her four children: Theotis Courtney, Shanekqua Woodbury-Monroe (Willie), Willie Woodberry, and Charalette Woodberry all of Bay City; eight grandchildren: Lonniquewa "Shay," De'Avion, Zakia, Troy'Nae, Willie Jr., Willasia, Javian "J," and Saige; fifteen siblings, Willie Woodbury of Midland, Gary Woodberry (Teresa) of Ballenger, Leon Johnson of Midland, Dorothy Edwards of Markham, Adele Young of Houston, Alfred Blackmon of Van Vleck, Shirley Williams (Daniel), Sheila Boone (Willie Jr.), Betty Jones, Alta Hutson, A. C. Kuykendall all of Bay City, Richard Jones (Doris) of Richwood, Carl Lee Green of Wharton, Lawrence Jones (Zelphia) of Bay City, and Dee Davis of LaMarque; God-daughter, Braylnn Sims, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Maxwell C. Wright

Funeral services for Maxwell C. Wright, 52, of Houston will be held 11 a. m. Saturday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. James Ashton Jr. officiating. The body will lie in state at the church 10 to 11 a. m. Saturday.

Mr. Wright died Dec. 29, 1992 at a Houston hospital.

He was an attorney at Maxwell C. Wright and Associates Law Firm.

Survivors include his wife, Coatnie; a son, Max; two daughters, Moishia and Marnique Wright-Ledet; his mother, Lillie Brooks; a son-in-law, Shawn Ledet; two brothers, Ned Brooks Jr. and Nathaniel Wright; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and host of other relatives, friends and associates.

In lieu of the usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Maxwell C. Wright, Sr.

Attorney Maxwell C. Wright, Sr., son of Mrs. Lillie Brooks and the late Mr. Van Wright, was born May 10, 1940 in Bay City, Matagorda County, Texas and departed this life December 29, 1992 in Houston, Texas. Attorney Wright was reared by his late stepfather, Deacon Ned Brooks, Sr.

He joined the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church at an early age. He was a member of the U. S. Air Force, a graduate of Texas Southern University, and a graduate of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law. He has maintained an active law practice.

He leaves to mourn a devoted wife, Coatnie Coleman Wright; one son, “Max;” two daughters, Moishia and Marnique Wright-Ledet; a mother, Mrs. Lillie Brooks of Markham, Texas; two brothers, Ned Brooks, Jr. of Bay City, Texas and Nathaniel Wright of Houston; a son-in-law, Shawn Ledet; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Columbus Coleman, Sr.; nieces, nephews and host of other relatives, friends and cousins.

Adell Marie Young
1936 - 2019

Adell Marie Young was born March 5, 1936 in Yoakum, Texas and passed on March 20, 2019. She will truly be missed and held dearly in the hearts of her family and friends, and all who knew and loved her.

All Services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Blessed Hope Baptist Church, 3741 Colvin St.; Houston, Texas 77013; Rev. J. D. Denkins, Pastor.

Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 am and Service to follow at 10:00 am. Interment Markham Community Cemetery; Markham, Texas.
