Funeral services for Elijah O'Neal, 92, of Markham, will be
Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist
Church, with Rev. James Ashton officiating.
Viewing will be Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the
church only. Burial will follow immediately after services at
Markham Cemetery.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Green's Mortuary, Bay City,

Elijah O'Neal
Remembering Elijah being born
to Douglas and Stella O'Neal on January 29, 1920
with twin (Elisha) in Fresno, Texas. His upbringing
with other sibling sisters Willie Ruth and Myrtle
Burns, two brothers Curtis Burns and Douglas Jr.
Elijah earned a diploma from Jack Yates school and
served in the United States Naval Service in 1944.
His interests included building and repairing any
item, Bible readings, upholstery, and quality time
with family and friends.
Remembering Elijah as a Worker
for 30 years as always ready to work for Carl's
Construction in Houston, Texas. Elijah used his
electrical and handy skills with individual
employers, The Russell Family, The Good Family, Ms.
Rita Hendrix, Ms. Padddock, The Bland Family and
many more throughout the community.
Remembering Elijah as a Father
& Grandpa to Carol, Michael, Elijah Jr., Curtis,
James, Tony, Harlan, Chicarus, Stacy and his little
Angel Bentra.
Remembering Elijah as a
Christian Friend attending Pilgrim Rest Baptist in
Markham, Texas and Impact Church in Houston, Texas
was a person always with a smile and enthusiasm.
There was never a dull moment around him.

Dorothy Parks
Funeral services for Dorothy Parks. 64,
of Bay City will be held 1 p. m. Saturday at Ebenezer
Baptist Church with the Rev. L. V. Harvey officiating.
Burial will follow at Markham Cemetery in Markham.
Visitation hours are until 9 p. m. today
at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home preceded by a wake to be
held from 8 to 9 p. m.
Mrs. Parks was born Jan. 17, 1926, to
Jasper and Arthalee Harrison Walker in Markham and died Dec.
26, 1990, at Matagorda General Hospital.
She was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include her mother-in-law, Edna
Thomas of Bay City; a step-daughter, Anita Fisher of Bay
City; a goddaughter, Rachell Eaton of Bay City and a host of
other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Willie Boone Jr., Lugene
Bryant, Edgar Dunbar, Robert Earl Rollins, A. C. Tellerson
and C. B. Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are Willie Boone
Sr., Charles Courtney, Eugene Moore, Gene Moore, Cleriona
Morgan and Gifford Morgan.
Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts

Dorothy Parks
Dorothy Walker, the daughter of (now the
late) Jasper and Arthalee Harrison Walker, was born on
Sunday, January 17, 1926, in Matagorda County, Markham,
Texas.
She attended the Public School at an
early age.
Dorothy Walker was united in marriage to
Harris Parks who preceded her in death. Also preceding her
in death were her parents and one brother, Jerry Walker.
She accepted Christ at an early age,
realizing that if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature. Sister Parks was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist
Church, under the leadership of the Rev. L. V. Harvey, where
she served faithfully.
Dorothy Parks departed this life
Wednesday, December 26, 1990, Bay City, Texas, at 64 years,
11 months and 9 days. By her passing, she leaves a loving
mother-in-law, Mrs. Edna Thomas, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Anita
Fisher and a god-daughter, Ms. Rachell Eaton, all of Bay
City, a host of other relatives and a family of friends.

Eddie R. Parr, Sr.
Eddie Raye Parr, Sr.
On September 27, 1937, a baby boy was born to Dollie
Mae and Roosevelt Parr in Sweet Home, Texas, whom they named Eddie.
Eddie grew up in the Sweet Home Community and
attended public school there.
He moved to Markham and united with the Baptist
Church at an early age. He was baptized by the late Rev. H. T. Aldridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Eddie departed this life on August 28, 1989 after a
long term of illness. His memories will always be cherished by his wife,
Jessie Lee Parr, of Markham; four daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Watkins of
Texas City, Ms. Shirley Parr of Markham, Mrs. Carol Spiller and Ms. Kim
Parr of Bay City; four sons, Charles and Eddie Parr, Jr. of Markham,
Michael and Kenny Raye Parr of Wharton; two brothers, John Parr of
Dallas and Willie D. Jackson of Victoria; four sisters, Mrs. Dollie Mae
Stinson of South Carolina, Mrs. Leola Mitchell of Corpus Christi, Mrs.
Bernice Cordley of Victoria and Mrs. Minerva Flagg of El Campo; two
aunts, a devoted uncle, seven granddaughters, three grandsons, his
mother-in-law, Mrs. Emily Williams of Austin, two sons-in-law, Clyde
Watkins and Earl Spiller, III, a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews,
relatives and friends.

at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church,

Burial will follow at Markham Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until
8 p.m. Friday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.

Jessie Lee Parr
Jessie Lee Parr, oldest daughter of the now late Jessie Williams and
Emily Boone Williams, was born in Markham, TX on Wednesday, April 26,
1939. She grew up in the community of her birth and attended A.
Jefferson Intermediate School in El Maton, TX. Later with her siblings,
she attended Hilliard High School in Bay City, TX. She also studied
nursing in San Antonio, TX.
Jessie Lee accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev.
H. T. Aldridge. Throughout her life she fought and kept the faith.
Her
transition from this life came Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in Sugarland
at 2:15 p. m. at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 2 days. She leaves
beautiful memories to a devoted family consisting of four daughters,
Charlotte Gutes of Texas City, Shirley Parr, of Bay City, Carol Spiller
(Earl) of Houston and Kim Parr of Bay City; two sons, Charles Parr of
Markham and Eddie Parr of Bay City; one stepson Michael Jimenez; five
sisters, Wanda Davis, Jeanette Williams, Hester Williams, Anna Sanders
(Johnny) all of Bay City, and Rita Hines (Morris) of Markham; five
brothers, Clydie B. Williams (Barbara) of Austin, Carnell Williams
(Joyce) of San Antonio, Daniel Williams (Shirley) and Otto Williams
(Val) of Bay City and Jeffrey Williams of Markham; two brothers-in-law,
John Marcellus Parr of Dallas and Willie D. Jackson of Hallettsville; a
devoted son-in-law, Clyde Watkins of Texas City; two uncles, Levi Boone
Jr. of Markham and Edward Luthan of Houston; four aunts, Amy Coulter of
Van Vleck, Evelyn Williams and Anna Jean both of Houston and Martha
Tillman of Galveston; fourteen grandchildren, Shanta, Tamyra, Earl,
April, LaShanda, Kevin, Irene, Demond, Alicia, Krystal, Jessilyn,
Miranda, Ebony and Caleb; and eighteen great grandchildren.
Jessie Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Williams and
Emily Boone Williams; three sisters, Johnnie Mae Williams, Irene
Williams and Leatha Jackson; one brother, Ralph Williams; one step-son,
Kenneth Parr; one son-in-law, Kelvin Gates, Sr.; her husband, Eddie Raye
Parr; grandparents, Levi Boone, Sr., Irene Harrison Burns, Pink Williams
and Hester Tone Williams.
Also
to cherish her memories are Janissa (Nay Nay) Paris Bree and Latlumphrey,
Jr. who she helped raise. All others to cherish her memories are a host
of nieces and nephews and an enormous family of other relatives and
friends. All that knew Jessie Lee, whether you called her Aunt Cooda,
Mama, or just Jessie Lee, you should already know that you were also
loved by her. So remember her as she was.

Kenneth Ray Parr, 27, of Bay City died August 15,
2007 in Huntsville, Texas.
He was born January 16, 1980 in Bay City, Texas.
His father, Eddie Ray Parr, Sr., preceded him in death.
He is survived by: mother, Mary Jimenez Colonge; step-mother, Jesse
Parr; sisters, Joyce Marie, Charlotte
and Carol Lynn of Houston, Shirley Jean and Kim of Bay City; brothers, Eddie
Parr, Jr., Joe Williams, Michael Jimenez and Tim Davis of Bay City and
Charles Parr, of Markham. He also leaves a special devoted teacher,
Martha Bonds, best friend, Chad Renfro, three special nieces: Tamyra,
Irene, Alicia and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services was at 1 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2007 at the Pilgrim
Rest Baptist Church in Markham with the Rev. R. Taylor, III officiating.
Internment will follow at Markham Community Cemetery, Markham, Texas.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist
Church.

Ida Mae Pleasant
Mrs. Ida Mae Pleasant, 56, of Box 91 Markham, Texas
died in Ben Taub Hospital in Houston on Monday, Nov. 8. She was born on
Aug. 1, 1920 in Fayette County, daughter of the late Ned White and
Florence Cones. She was married to Mr. Jewel Pleasant who preceded her
in death. She is survived by her son George Dently of Houston; her
granddaughter, Toni Dently; one foster son, Otto Williams; two step
daughters and four step sons; four sisters, Mrs. Lottie M. Coleman of
Rosenberg, Mrs. Sally S. Lewis of Bay City, Mrs. Meddie M. Scott and
Mrs. Modie M. Giles of Columbus; one brother, George Woodridge of San
Diego, California; one aunt, Mrs. Lottie M. Dunn of Houston. The funeral
will be held in the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Markham, Saturday, Nov.
13, at 2:30 p. m. The Reverend A. L. Lewis will be officiating. The
burial will follow in Markham Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are through
Duncan Roberts Funeral Home.

Jewel
Pleasant
Jewel Pleasant, the only child of Weldon Pleasant and Maggie Fisher was
born on September 4, 1911 in Yoakum, Texas.
He was married to Sadie Miller, during this time he was the father to
Maggie, Eddie, Frank, Wilma, Patricia, O. B. and Jewel Fisher. He was
preceded by his first wife in death and later he married Ida Mae
Matthews. To this union, he was the father to George, Otto and Toni.
He was living in Markham, Texas at the time of his death on Sunday,
April 11, 1976. He is survived by his wife, father, nine children, a
host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 17, 1976, 200 p. m., at
Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Markham, Texas, with Rev. Rudolph Martin
officiating.
