Fannie Cannon Fannie Cannon Funeral services for Fannie Cannon, 80, of Bay City, will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday at Vine Grove Christian Church, Live Oak, with the Rev. Harry Williams officiating. Burial will be in Vine Grove Cemetery, Live Oak. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p. m. Saturday at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel. She was born Jan. 14, 1905, to Charlie and Elizabeth Austin Wyche in Live Oak, and died May 7, 1985, at Matagorda General Hospital, Bay City. She was a member of the Christian church. Survivors include three sons, Abel and Kenneth Rutherford of Bay City, Charles Rutherford of Houston; a sister, Ruth Bouldin of Bay City; a brother-in-law, Savannah Bouldin of Bay City; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers include James Rutherford, Abel Rutherford Jr., John Rutherford, Arthur Copeland, Ralph Roberson, Kenneth Rutherford Jr. and Cleophus Brown. Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home, Bay City.

Herba Cooper Herba Cooper Herba Cooper, 39, of Bay City, Texas passed away Sept. 22, 1996 at the Windsor Care Center in Houston, Texas. She was born May 9, 1957 in Bay City, Texas to Herbert and Leola Cooper. She attended Public School in Bay City and graduated from Bay City High School. She also attended Wharton Junior College in Wharton, Texas Funeral Services will be held Saturday Sept. 28, 1996 at 1 p. m. at First Sacred Memorial Christian Church with Rev. A. H. Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Live Oak Community Cemetery in Live Oak. Family will receive friends from 8 to 9 p. m. Friday in the Chapel at Green’s Mortuary. Herba will lie in State at First Sacred Memorial Christian Church from noon to 1 p. m. She is survived by a son Shelton Cooper of Bay City; three sisters Lana (& Alvin) Gant of Marrero, Louisiana, Chandra Cooper Smith and Hernetra Cooper of Ganado; two brothers, Herbert G. Cooper of Bay City and Marome Cooper of Ganado; aunts, Virginia Matthews, Mae Ella Brown, Aba Nell Cooper and Margaret Cooper of Bay City; uncles Jobe (& Louise) Brown and Roger Brown of Galveston and Willie D. (& Thelma) Cooper of Houston and a host of other relatives and cousins and friends She was preceded in death by her mother, father and one uncle. Active pallbearers are Brian K. Brown, Donald E. Brown, John W. Brown, Garland Laws, William Smith, Terry Williams, Anthony Wright and Will Wright III. Honorary Pallbearers are Jobe Brown, Roger Brown, Willie D. Cooper, Alvan Gant, Herbert G. Cooper, Rev. Byron Laws and Shelton Cooper. Arrangements are under the direction of Green’s Mortuary.

Ed Earls Burial at Liveoak Today for Well Known Aged Negro – Edmund Earls Funeral services were held today at Liveoak cemetery for Edmund Earls, 77, Negro, who died in Detroit, Michigan. Earls was well known among his white friends for whom he had worked in the county many years He worked for the Wadsworth family in his boyhood back in Matagorda. He worked for “Uncle” Charlie ___, T. J. Poole, Jr. and ____. About five years ago he left for Detroit where he made his home with his son until his death.
