On July 7, 1898 Tom and Charity Hudgins were blessed with the birth of a baby girl. They named her Hattie. She grew up and prospered on the family estate in Hudgins Settlement. During her adult years she met and married Ben Alexander. They resided together for many years until his death. They were members of the Pilgrim Rose Baptist Church. In July of 1978 Hattie was admitted to Matagorda General Hospital. She remained there until October 18, 1978 when at 9:29 P. M. she fulfilled her appointed time of life. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Mrs. Catherine Hayes, Mrs. Queenie Hayes, Mrs. Bessie Monroe, Mrs. Stella Tone, Mr. Roosevelt Hudgins all from Bay City, Texas; Mrs. Millie Farris and Mr. Mack Hudgins of California, Mrs. Willie Mae Hughes of Houston, Texas, 32 great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Ricky Lamont Fields, 41, of Freeport will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at First United Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport, Texas, the Rev. Ondra Waddy, pastor and the Rev. K. L. Ganther, eulogist. Burial will follow immediately after services at Hudgins Cemetery in Cedar Lane, Texas. There will be no public viewing before or after services. Ricky Lamont Fields was born on June 18, 1970 and was reared by Hallard and Joann Fields. Ricky departed this life on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 9:08 a.m. at his resident in Freeport. He was preceded in death by: his father, Hallard O. Fields; two sisters, Vicky and Cheri Fields; grandmother, Catherine Hayes; and grandfather, Howard Hayes. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories; loving and devoted wife, Amanda Fields; mother, Joann Fields; one daughter, Jadelyn Fields; six sons, Ricky Fields, Marcus Fields, Deacon Fields, Samuel Lovell, Darion Fields, and Trey Fields; one god-sister, Salecia Sidney; one god-brother, Lawrence Grice, III; two aunts, Laverne Harris (Robert) and Marilyn Lacey (Rev. Funeral services for Robert "Bobby" Green, 72, of Houston, will be held at 2:30 p. m. Sunday at Sixth Street Church of Christ, Bay City, with Brother Leroy Burton officiating. Burial will be in Hudgins Cemetery, Bay City. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p. m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Green was born Oct. 10, 1912, to Jack and Florine Jackson Green in Edna, and died March 20, 1985, in Houston. A former resident of Bay City, he was a World War II veteran and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a wife, Josie Green; two children, Beatrice Ward of Houston and James Williams of Bay City; one brother, Alden Green of Edna; three aunts, Sarah Glover of Houston, Mary Hastings of Edna and Mary Edwards of Bay City; one uncle, William Green of Edna; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers include John T. Ward Jr., Frank Scott, Clifford Rugeley, Jimmie Scott Jr., Curby Harkless and Albert Lemon Jr. Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.

Funeral services for the Rev. Howard Hayes, 68, of Bay City, will be held 1 p. m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church, Bay City, with the Rev. L. C. Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Hudgins Cemetery, Cedar Lane. Visitation will be this afternoon at Green's Mortuary and from noon to 1 p. m. Saturday at the church. A wake will be held from 7 to 9 p. m. today at the funeral home. Rev. Hayes was born Sept. 12, 1919, in Bay City to D. H. and Martha Hayes and died Jan. 29, 1988, at Lake Jackson Nursing Home. Rev. Hayes was the pastor at St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church in El Maton and Pleasant Green Baptist church in Cedar Lane. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Joe Ann and Hallard Fields of Freeport and Laverne and Robert Harris of Houston; a brother, D. H. Hayes, Jr. of San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, Ruby Mims of Bay City, Frankie Hasley of Houston and Gussie Jones of Palacios; four grandchildren,, Rickey and Cheri Fields of Freeport and Shannon and Rochelle Harris of Houston; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers include Deacons Charles Cunningham, A. D. Davis, Charlie Edwards, Edward Heart, Ernest Davis, George Reeves, and Willie Taylor and Harold Deadrick. Honorary pallbearers include Rickey Fields, Shannon Harris, Rochelle Harris, Cheri Fields, Robert Harris and Hallard Fields. Arrangements are with Green's Mortuary, Bay City.

Queenie Hayes was born August 27, 1907. The eldest of four children born to the late Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Farris. Queenie Hayes first acknowledged God as a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church and in later years with Berean Missionary Baptist Church. Queenie Hayes was later joined in union with Seamon Hayes, who preceded her in death. There were no children born to this union. Queenie was a member of Olive Leaf Chapter No. 219 Order of the Eastern Star. Queenie Hayes departed this life September 2, 1980 leaving to mourn two sisters Catherine Hayes of Bay City, Texas, Millie Booker of Los Angeles, California, four nieces, one nephew; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In the year of 1926 a son, Earnest Lee Hudgins was born unto Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hudgins of Bay, City, Texas. He departed this life on Saturday, December 26, 1970 in Long Beach, California. He left to mourn his death a father and mother; three sisters, Mrs. Stella Tone, Mrs. Bessie Monroe of Cedar Lane, Texas, Mrs. Willie Lee Hughes of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Mack Hudgins of Long Beach, California, Thomas Hudgins Jr. of Palacios, Texas, Roosevelt Hudgins of Bay City, Texas; a number of nieces and nephews, a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mack Hudgins, 84, of Long Beach California and
formally of Cedar Lane will be Saturday, March 15, 2003 at 1 p.m. at
Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church, Cedar Lane, Texas with the
Rev. Maurice L. Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Hudgins
Cemetery, Hudgins Settlement, Cedar Lane, Texas. Mr. Hudgins will
lie in state at the church from 12 noon until 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Visitation will be Friday, March 14, 2003 from 12 noon until 7 p.m.
at Green’s Mortuary. Mack Hudgins On July 10, 1918, a son was born to Thomas Hudgins, Jr. and Helen Jones Hudgins in Bay City, Texas, whom they named Mack Hudgins. He grew up in the community of his birth and attended public school with his siblings, family and friends. He united with Pleasant Green Baptist Church at a very young age and remained a faithful member until moving to Long Beach, California in his early adult life. In 1984, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Gladys Watson. To this union no children were born. And it came to pass on Tuesday the 4th day of March, 2003, the earthly journey of Mack Hudgins came to an end at Marlora Manor Nursing Home in Long Beach, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Helen Hudgins; three sisters and three brothers. In his passing, he leaves to mourn his wife, Gladys Hudgins of Long Beach, California; nine stepchildren; one brother, Roosevelt (Barbara) Hudgins of Hudgins Settlement, Cedar Lane, Texas; one sister, Willie Lee (Joe) Hughes of Houston, Texas; one brother-in-law, Edward Tone of Cedar Lane, Texas; one sister-in-law, Myrtle Hudgins of Palacios, Texas; twelve nephews; sixteen nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

Roosevelt Hudgins, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2024, in Bay City, Texas. He was born in Bay City, Texas on November 20, 1930, to Thomas Hudgins and Helen Jones Hudgins. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Pleasant Green Baptist Church, 833 County Road 148, Bay City, Texas. Visitation will be Friday, August 16, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Lakeside Memorial Chapel, 3318 Avenue D, Bay City, Texas. In the year of 1894, a son, Thomas Hudgins, Jr. was born to Charity and Tom Hudgins of Bay City, Texas. In 1917 Thomas Hudgins, Jr. was married to Miss Helen T. Johnson. Nine children were born, four girls and five boys. They lived together for 52 years until her death January 20, 1971. He was united with the Church of God in Christ at an early age until he departed this life on March 12, 1973. He leaves to mourn three daughters: Mrs. Stella Mae Tone, Mrs. Bessie Mae Monroe of Cedar Lane, Texas and Mrs. Willie Lee Hughes of Houston, Texas. Three sons: Mack Hudgins of Long Beach, California, Thomas Hudgins III of Palacios, Texas, and Roosevelt Hudgins of Bay City, Texas; 27 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Mrs. Hattie Alexander of Bay City, Texas. Three nieces, 2 great nieces, 1 great nephew and a host of relatives and friends.
