Ruben's Dad worked for Texas Gulf Sulpher Company
in
Matagorda County before the company moved to Newgulf in
Wharton County in 1928. The family moved with the company, and
re-established their home in Newgulf. Ruben was born at the Newgulf
Hospital in 1931, attended Newgulf Elementary School and graduated
with the Boling High
School Senior Class of 1948. At the time of his death his
family was living in Newgulf, and he was survived by his father
Bernabe; two sisters: Guadalupe and Felicitas Rodriguez; and one
brother, Raul Rodriguez. |

Funeral Services were held here today for Marine Ruben C. Rodriquez, brought back to Bay City from Korea for reburial. The body of the Newgulf boy was brought to Bay City Wednesday where Taylor Bros. arranged for services. Marine Rodriguez was among the first to die in Korea from this area. He is the son of Bernabe Rodriguez of Newgulf. He is also survived by two sisters, Guadalupe and Felicitas of Newgulf and one brother, Raul, also of Newgulf. Services were held from the Catholic Church in Newgulf this afternoon at 4 o'clock and burial was in Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City under the direction of the American Legion Post No. 316 of Newgulf.
