Frank Robles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matias Robles of Bay City, was killed in action in Italy May 23. His parents have recently been notified of his death. In June they were notified that he was missing in action and it was not until August they received word of his death. Robles entered service in March, 1943. In the latter part of 1943 he went overseas. February 27, 1944 he was wounded in action and was in the hospital about six weeks. His parents were sent the Purple Heart and shrapnel fragments that caused his injury. Frank has a brother, Pvt. Mathias Robles, Jr., also in service, stationed at Fort Bliss. Services have been scheduled for Mrs. Natalia Robles, 76, of 2416 Twelfth Street, who died Thursday at Matagorda General Hospital. She was born in Bastrop on Dec. 15, 1886. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home and Mass sung at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Father J. P. Shannon officiating. Interment will be in Cedarvale. Survivors are her husband, Matias Robles, of Bay City, five daughters, Mrs. Aniceta Diaz of Palacios, Mrs. Andrea Olvera, Mrs. Consuelo Herrera, Mrs. Lucia Guzman, and Mrs. Luisa Acosta, all of Bay City; two sons, Marcelino Robles of Houston and Matias Robles of Port Arthur. ROBLES, Matias, age 87, passed away at his Bay City residence on April 14. Rosary was said Sunday, April 16 in Taylor Brothers Chapel. Mass was sung this morning at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with the Rev. Joseph Shannon officiating. Interment was in Cedarvale Cemetery. Survivors include five daughters, Andrea Olvera, Anicela Dias, Lucie Guzman and Luisa Acosta, all of Bay City. Also two sons, Marcelo Robles of Houston and Matias Jr. of Pasadena; 36 grandchildren and 78 great-grandchildren.
