Adrienne Lynne (Brown) Montgomery

August 17, 1967 ~ February 19, 2025

Reflections of Life

THE EARLY YEARS

On Thursday, August 17, 1967, Cleophus Brown, Sr. and Nettie Callis announced the birth of their baby girl, Adrienne Lynne. She grew up in a much simpler time when it was common for kids to go outside and play. She enjoyed playing basketball as well as volleyball either in the neighborhood or at school. When spending time indoors she enjoyed listening to her mom’s albums or 45’s played on the ‘old-school’ record player or watching TV.  Adrienne was also an avid reader.  Give her a good mystery, romance, fiction or non-fiction book and she could lose herself for hours as the words on the pages would capture and maintain her attention. Additionally, she really enjoyed spending time baking and cooking with her mother and sisters while living at home. Sundays were especially good family times. After attending church at Enterprise Baptist Church, the family would enjoy dinner together.

A PASSION FOR EDUCATION

Her love and passion for education started early in life in Bay City, Texas. She attended McAllister Junior High School and graduated from Bay City High School.  She enrolled at the University of Houston in Clear Lake, Texas. She majored in education and earned her bachelor’s degree. She was a career educator.  It gave her great joy watching the faces of children light up as they grew in knowledge. For years, she inspired many pre-k through first grade students at Silver Elementary School in Wharton, Texas and Cherry Elementary School, Pierce Elementary School, as well as Linnie Roberts Elementary all in Bay City

FAMILY IS EVERYTHING

Being a mother was one of her most prized accomplishments.  She and her first husband were blessed to have three great children, Chad, Cassidy, and Devan.  She was a loving mother who loved her children very much. She appreciated being with family and friends. She would always open her door for friends’ families to come and enjoy all the holidays at her house which made for great, large holiday gatherings. She loved to cook and enjoyed eating a good meal. It didn’t matter if it was The Cheesecake Factory, Chinese food, or a meal from her kitchen, she found joy in a scrumptious meal especially if it was shared with family or friends. Oh yea, she LOVED sweets! Any kind of sweets, from cakes to pies as well as chocolates, and especially Hershey’s Dark Chocolate!!! Now that was good eating!!!!  She also enjoyed going shopping. It didn’t matter what she was shopping for, as long as she could hit the stores it made her day. Traveling on family vacations was also very relaxing for her especially if it was cruising.

PRECIOUS MEMORIES

On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Adrienne transitioned after a series of health challenges. We will miss her fun-loving, easy-going, sweet, jokester personality with an infectious laugh. She would help anyone. These precious memories will always cherish by her children: Chad Price, Cassidy Price, and Devan Price; grandchild, Amari Price; siblings: Cleophus (Ethel) Brown Jr., Alvin Brown, Gerald (Shamane) Brown, and Paula Brown; and sister-in-Law, LaVern Brown, along with other nieces, nephews, previous students, and loved ones.

It is in times like these we remember those who transitioned before her including her parents: Cleophus Brown, Sr. and Nettie Callis, grandparents Early Brown and Odessa Gatson-Brown, siblings, Linda Kay Turk, Timothy Brown and sister-in-law Mona Brown.
