Funeral services for Wade Hampton Ramsey were held at the Trinity Baptist Church, Tuesday, September 8 at 10 a. m. with Rev. Jerry Lyons, pastor of the church, and Rev. J. M. Dawson of Needville, officiating. Burial was in the Palacios Cemetery. A retired farmer and a deacon in the Trinity Baptist Church, Mr. Ramsey was born July 11, 1877 in Newton County, Texas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ramsey, who preceded him in death. He passed away at his home northeast of Palacios, Sunday, September 6. He is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Tera Dickerson of Pineland, Texas, Mrs. Delma Wright of Freer, Texas, Mrs. Nona Lee Birdwell of San Augustine, Texas, Mrs. Ruby Williams of Desdemona, Texas and Mrs. Marvalene Hall of Hockley, Texas; two sons, E. O. Ramsey of Palacios and Cecil McMurry of San Augustine; one sister, Mrs. Addie Young of St. Louis, Mo. and three brothers, Ed Ramsey of Carbon, Texas, C. C. and I. E. Ramsey of Palacios. Funeral services for Mrs. Lula May Ramsey were held at the Trinity Baptist Church Saturday, May 12 at 11 a. m. with the Rev. J. R. Gwin officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. Daughter of the late Claburn and Rosa Woods Biley, she was born in Newton County, Texas. She and her late husband, Wade Hampton Ramsey, moved to Palacios in 1929. She passed away Thursday, May 10, in Wagner General Hospital after a lingering illness. She is survived by four daughters, Tera Dickerson of Pineland, Texas, Delma Wright of Palacios, Nona Lee Birdwell of San Augustine and Rubie Williams of Bridgeport, Texas; one son, E. O. Ramsey of Palacios; one sister, Rose Lee Wilkerson of Beaumont; two brothers, Walter Biley of Leesville, La. and Herbert Biley of San Augustine; 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Edward “E. O.” Osbon Ramsey, 73, of Palacios will be held at the 1st Baptist Church in Palacios at 2 p. m. Monday, with the Rev. J. Gross officiating. Commissioner Billy Harrison will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery. Mr. Ramsey was born July 15, 1911, in St. Augustine, Texas, to Wade Hampton and Lula Mae Byley Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey died December 8, 1984 at Wagner General Hospital. He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Palacios, and a self employed rancher. Mr. Ramsey was a resident of Palacios for 56 years. Survivors include: wife, Dorothy Mae Gillaspie Ramsey of Palacios; daughter Sue Ramsey Wickham of Conroe; three sons, Carrel Osbon Ramsey of Palacios, Kenny Lee Ramsey of Houston and Rick Harold Ramsey of Houston; three sisters, Tera Ramsey Dickerson of Pineland, Nona Ramsey Birdwell of St. Augustine, and Rubie Ramsey Burt of Bridgeport; and five grandchildren. Dorothy Mae Ramsey, 93, of Palacios, went to be with the Lord on
Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Dorothy was born on August 27, 1920, in
Palacios, Texas to the late Bon and Sue Ella Gillaspie. She was
devoted to her family and her friends. She was always eager to share
her faith in the Lord with anyone that would listen. In her last
years, she spent many months at Houston Methodist Hospital. She
impacted everyone from the nutrition staff to the hospital
administrators with her courage and faith in God. Dorothy was a
living testament in her beliefs until God said, "You've done enough,
Come home."

Funeral Services for C. C. “Pa” Ramsey, Sr. were held Saturday, December 15, at 3 p. m. in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Maxwell officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. A native of Eastland County, Texas, he was born January 26, 1891. A retired farmer, he had been a resident of Palacios for 46 years. A member of the Palacios Trail Riders Association, as long as his health permitted, he enjoyed making the rides and riding in the parade. He passed away suddenly, Thursday, December 13, in Wagner General Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Vera Ramsey of Palacios; 3 daughters, Mrs. Lenadene Johs of Bay City, Mrs. Imogene Wheeler of El Campo and Mrs. Elizabeth Bartlett of Lake Jackson; three sons, Merle Ramsey of Palacios, Eugene Ramsey of Garwood and Coy C. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary M. Ramsey were held at 2 p. m. Saturday, September 17, 1955 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Rayford Harris officiating, assisted by Rev. L. W. Crouch. Interment was n the Palacios Cemetery. Mrs. Ramsey, the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Crocker, was born in San Augustine County on August 10, 1894. On January 28, 1917, she was married to Coy C. Ramsey and to this union were born six children. She died in the Nightingale Hospital in El Campo at 4:40 a. m. Friday, September 16. Survivors include her husband Coy Ramsey; mother, Mrs. Judy Crocker, Beaumont; three daughters, Mrs. Erick Johs, Bay City, Mrs. Woodrow Ellis, El Campo; Mrs. Paul Bartlett, Lake Jackson; three sons, B. Merle Ramsey, Coy Ramsey, Jr., Palacios; and Eugene Ramsey, El Campo. Surviving also are 12 grandchildren, six sisters, Mrs. Claude Butler, Hemphill; Mrs. I. B. Lewis, Orange; Mrs. Herbert Dickerson Burkesville; Mrs. Ted Hodges and Mrs. Carmen Rogers, Beaumont; Mrs. Elizabeth Wright, San Augustine and one brother, Walter Crocker of Beaumont.

Coy Chester Ramsey, Jr., 83, of Bay City passed away January 30, 2017. He was born January 17, 1934 in Palacios, Texas to the late Coy Chester Ramsey, Sr. and Mary Magdalene Crocker Ramsey. He attended the University of Texas where he was a member of the Longhorn Band. He served in the US Army. He worked 24 years as an accountant for the Matagorda County Auditor’s office retiring 3 weeks prior to his 80th birthday. He married Norma Jean Sherrer in July of 1961. She preceded him in death January 6, 2017. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Karen Jean Ramsey, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Survivors include son Bruce A. Ramsey & wife Patricia and 2 grandsons Benjamin and Dean Ramsey. Private interment will be at Hawley Cemetery. Norma Jean Ramsey Norma Jean Ramsey of Bay City born February 24, 1933 in Bay City to John Joseph and Dora Keusel Sherrer. After graduating from Bay City High School in 1950 went to work for Leu Stewart Studio at the entry level of photography. She worked for 11 years, then bought the business with her husband Coy, then retiring in 2005. Norma was a member of the National Professional Photography Association of Texas and the National Association of Professional Photographers. She earned the degree of Master Photographer. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Karen Jean Ramsey, brothers Henry, Eugene, Leroy Sherrer; sister Anne Qualls; survivors, husband Coy C. Ramsey Jr.; son, Bruce Alan Ramsey; daughter-in-law Patricia Burley Ramsey; grandsons Benjamin Ramsey & Dean Ramsey; sister Lucille Hinds and numerous nieces and nephews. A retired farmer, he had been a resident of Palacios since 1941. He had served as a deacon of First Baptist Churches for 50 years, 25 years in the First Baptist Church of Palacios. He passed away at 3:30 a. m. Friday, March 24, at Wagner General Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Lella Lee Ramsey were held 2 p. m. Tuesday, September 5, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rayford Harris officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. A daughter of David and Angie Evie Holland Shannon, she was born May 27, 1899 in Thurber, Texas. On December 24, 1916 she was united in marriage to Ike Ramsey in the First Baptist Church of Carbon. They moved to Palacios in 1941 from the Pleasant Hill Community. An active member of the First Baptist Church, Pink Ladies and the Tres Palacios Garden Club, she died Sunday, September 3, in Wagner General Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Ike Ramsey of Palacios; three sons, Shannon Ramsey of Port Lavaca, Billy Gene Ramsey of Baytown and Lynn Ramsey of Houston; a sister, Mrs. E. J. Poe; a step-sister, Mrs. Lillie Wragg, both of Cisco; three step-brothers, Winfred Tucker, of Cisco, Robert and Roy Tucker of Carbon; a half sister, Mrs. Verta Mae Simmons of Odessa; a half brother, M. C. Tucker, Jr. of Austin; six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
