Sarah Ellen Mounts was born August 23, 1854, at Amity, Pennsylvania.
When she was eleven years of age her parents moved to Indiana,
where, when she was 22 years of age she was married to William H.
Jenkins. Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins and their three children came to Texas
in 1883 and have lived in the state ever since.
Mrs. Jenkins very early in life united with the Methodist church and
until failing health prevented, was an untiring and faithful worker
in her Master’s vineyard. After more than two years of intense
suffering she passed to her reward last Monday. She was fully
prepared for the end and asked her family to meet her in the Great
Beyond. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Mr.
Goodenough at the Palacios cemetery Tuesday afternoon and the
remains tenderly laid to rest. Besides the numerous friends to mourn
her loss there are the sorrowing husband and seven sons and
daughters. The sons are: James A., David, Thomas A., Francis M., and
Joseph W.; the daughters, Mrs. Otis J. Foraker and Mrs. Ann Turner. Palacios Beacon, April 7, 1922
