John Huff was born on December 26, 1860
in Jedii, Moravia, Czech Republic. His parents were Jakub Huf and
Johanna Moravek Huf. He married Anna Jureckova on January 22, 1884.
She was the daughter of Leonard and Ana Palouskova Jurecek. They
immigrated to the United States leaving Bremen and arriving in
Galveston on August 6, 1907. In the 1910 census, the children
of John and Annie are Katie, Henrietta, Henry, Vaclav, Earnest and
Frances. The family lived first in Fort Bend County, where John was
farming, for about 25 years before moving to Chapman Ranch in Nueces
County, Texas. John died on December 9, 1940 at Chapman Ranch and
was buried at Hawley Cemetery near Blessing. He was survived by his
wife, Anna Jureckova Huff and children. |

Funeral Services For Mrs. Annie Huff Held At Hawley Cemetery Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Huff, 83, of Bastrop were held last week at Hawley Cemetery with the S. P. J. S. T. Lodge officiating and interment under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Huff is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Joe Zemanek of Blessing and Mrs. Frances Vita of Dallas; four sons, Victor and Henry Huff of Corpus Christi, Ernest Huff of Dallas and Joe Huff of California.

Mr. Joseph Zemanek, a resident of
Blessing for 23 years, died Sunday at the age of 62.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs.
Christine Zemanek of Blessing; three daughters, Mrs. Liddie Pavelka
of Dallas, Mrs. Martha Johnston of El Paso, and Mrs. Sidney
Bridewell, Jr. of Dallas; two sons, Victor Zemanek of Blessing and
Joseph Zemanek, Jr., of Austin; two sisters, Mrs. Rosia Werner and
Miss Carrie Zemanek of Boling; and one brother, John J. Zemanek of
Needville. Funeral services will be held at the Hawley Cemetery, Tuesday at 2 p. m., under the direction of the Blessing Masonic Lodge.
