Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for John D. Evans, 88, who moved to Collegeport from Waynesburg, Pa., in 1909 and was one of Matagorda County’s leading citizens. Mr. Evans died in the Matagorda General Hospital at 9 o’clock Monday morning. Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Louise Marsland of Bound Brook, N. J. The Rev. George Gillespie of Palacios conducted the services at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home and burial was in the Hawley Cemetery. Mrs. Anna McKain Evans, wife of John D. Evans, a well-known oil man of 67 Sumner Ave, died February 14, 1908, after an extended illness of bowel trouble. She was 35 years of age and the daughter of David and Catherine McKain of Sumner Ave. Besides her husband, father and mother, there survives an 11 year-old daughter and 2 brothers, George L. and James B. McKain of Parkersburg, WV and Mrs. Louise Greed of Locust. Ave. Anna was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Interment in Washington Cemetery. Alfred Evans, one of the oldest men in Elk county, died very suddenly at his home near Weedville station, on the Low Grade road, last Thursday night. He retired as usual in the evening, apparently in good health, and Friday morning was found dead in his bed. His age was 78 years. Jeffersonian-Democratic, Brookville, Pennsylvania Evans—On Friday, March 26, 1909, at 7:45 a. m., Huldah Evans, in her 86th year. Funeral services at the residence of her son-in-law, J. H. Murphy, 38 Fourth avenue, Carnegie, on Sunday, March 28, at 2 p. m. Friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend.

M. at The St. John and Sons Funeral Home, 923 Broadway, Bedford, where services will be held Friday, Feb. 4, at 3 p. m., officiated by Rev. Dr. D. Finley Wood.
