Another long and interesting life came to a close on Tuesday, May 8, at 6:30 a.m. when Mr. S. O. Eidman, Sr., passed away at his home here in Bay City. While an invalid for a number of years, having made his home with his son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Seamon Eidmon, whose devotion to him has been wonderful, still his death was more or less of a shock. When his family went to waken him, they found he had passed away. A peaceful ending to a long and useful life begun in the old world and closed in the new.
Due to the illness of Mrs. Seamon Eidman for some months, Grandfather Eidman, as he was affectionately known, went into his own home with Mr. and Mrs. Toney Carr, who gave him every care and attention. His death came there.
Funeral services were from the Methodist church Wednesday, 4:30 p.m., May 9th, with interment in Cedarvale Cemetery, Rev. G. T. Storey, pastor of the Presbyterian church, and Rev. Hughes, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Lovely flowers spoke eloquently of the esteem in which this good man was held.
In his years at Georgetown, and these last twenty-five in Bay City, Mr. Eidman made for himself many friends who respected him for his keen intellect and high-minded character and citizenship, and who will miss him much.
Mr.
Eidman was a man of very quiet, unassuming manner, firm in his
convictions of right, and had many friends. Surviving Mr. Eidman are Mrs. Vernon Ford, New York City; Mrs. H. W. Holman, Detroit, Mich.; C. S. Eidman, Austin; Guy G. Eidman, Dallas; U. S. Eidman, San Marcos; K. H. Eidman, Harlingen; S. O. Eidman, Bay City, and one sister, Mrs. M. J. Allen, of Waco. One son, H. B. Eidman passed away October 23rd, 1918.

Mrs. V. E. Eidman, who has been an inmate of a Houston hospital for the past several weeks, died there this morning and will be buried in Cedarvale Cemetery tomorrow afternoon.
Messrs. Sid, Seamon, Craft and Umimy Eidman, her sons, left today for Houston for the remains.
An additional mention will be made in a later issue of the Tribune, as this news reached us at press time.

MRS. VIRGINIA ELINORE EIDMAN Mrs. Virginia Elinore Eidman, wife of S. O. Eidman Sr., of this city, died in a Houston hospital yesterday morning at 11:15 after an illness of several weeks and was buried in Cedarvale Cemetery this afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. O. E. Vivion officiating at the religious ceremonies, which were held at the home.
Mrs. Eidman was born in Fayette County, Texas on February 15, 1853, and was, therefore, 68 years and 10 months of age at the time of her death. In 1870 she was married to S. O. Eidman in Fayette County. To this union there were born eight children, all of whom, with the exception of a son, Hugh B., who died in the fall of 1918, and a daughter, Mrs. V. O. Ford, of Kansas City, were with their mother at her demise. The family has lived in Bay City for many years, and its members have gathered about them a host of friends.
Decedent has been a member of the Methodist Church for many years and was a devout Christian, a loving wife and mother and devoted to her friends and neighbors, from whose circles and councils she will be missed.
Besides her husband, she leaves surviving her, five sons and two daughters. These are C. S., S. O., Guy G., K. H., and U. S., Mrs. V. O. Ford of Kansas City and Mrs. H. W. Holman of Detroit.
The Tribune joins the many friends of the family in extending to them our most sincere sympathies in this great hour of bereavement.

Kraft Eidman
Mr. K. H. (Kraft) Eidman, well known in Bay City, where he resided for quite some time several years ago passed away at his home in Harlingen Wednesday morning, November 9th, after a lingering illness, and was buried in Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City Thursday afternoon at two o’clock, the Rev. R. E. Connell officiating.
Besides his widow, Mr. Eidman in survived by two sons, Kraft and Frank of Houston; 4 brothers, S. O. Eidman of Bay City, Guy Eidman of Houston, C. S. Eidman of Austin and U. S. Eidman of Milsap; 2 sister, Mrs. Catherine Ford of New York City, and Mrs. H. W. Holman of Chicago.
Attending the funeral from out of town were: Messrs. Guy Eidman, Kraft and Frank Eidman of Houston, C. S. Eidman of Austin, U. S. Eidman of Milsap, Mrs. Bessie Crabb of Austin, Miss Reeves of Harlingen and Mrs. Dunson of Mercedes.

Mr.
Eidman was born in Oberbiel, Germany, July 8th, 1832, son of Simon
O. Eidman and Kathryn Kraft, of Wetzler, Germany, with whom he came
to Texas in 1846. His family landed at Galveston and went by ox
wagon through Houston to old San Felipe, there taking their place in
the upbuilding of that section of the state. His people were
prosperous, cultivated folk, eager to take their place in the making
of a new nation. As a son of pioneers, Mr. Eidman fell in with the
spirit of the times, doing his part in the busy events about him,
and finally settled in Georgetown, Williamson County, in 1879, with
his wife, formerly Virginia E. Gregory, of Fayetteville. Mrs. Eidman
passed away December 12th, 1921.
