Asma Sophie Badouh Owen

 

Asma Sophie Badouh Owen, a retired public school teacher, died Thursday at her home. She was 90. Mrs. Owen was born in Bay City, Texas, and lived in El Paso, Texas, from 1916 to 1940, when she moved to New Orleans. She graduated from Radford School for Girls and attended the University of California at Berkeley. She was a music teacher for 12 years in the El Paso public school system. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star-Star of the East Chapter, past president of Syrian Lebanese American Ladies Social and the Chanterettes. Survivors include a son, Kalil N. Owen, four daughters, Martha L., Marian V. and Melanie May Owen and Minerva O. Tobin; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a. m. at Jacob Schoen & Son, 3827 Canal. Visitation will be today from 1 to 5 p. m. and Monday after 8 a. m. Najeb Kalil Owen on Saturday, October 14, 1972, at 9:20 o’clock p. m., beloved husband of Asma Badouh; father of Kalil Najeb, Melanie, Marian and Martha Owen, Mrs. Jan Freeman Tobin Jr.; brother of Mrs. Alya Manjais of Canton, Ohio, Adeeb Aoun Monjaess, Mrs. Violet Kuran Afdukia Bousader of Beruit, Lebanon; son of the late Shiek and Elshieka Kalil Adeeb Aoun Monjaess, National Poet of Lebanon; nephew of Mrs. Joseph Cuifi of New Orleans, La. Survived by 3 grandchildren. Age 71 years. A native of Schiveir, Lebanon and a resident of this city for the past 58 years.

Relatives and friends of the family, also officers and members of Orleans Lodge No. 397 FM & AM, Grand Consistory of Louisiana No. 32 AASRM Jerusalem Temple AAONMA, The Chanters YMBC and members of the Real Estate Board are invited to attend the funeral.

Edward Badouh Sr.

Edward Badouh Sr. Succumbs at Age 78

 

Services for Edward “Eddie” Badouh Sr., prominent New Braunfels attorney and former chairman of the Comal County Democratic Party, were to be at 2 p. m. today at St. John’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Robert Keith and the Rev. Bill Arnold, both of New Braunfels, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
 

Badouh, 78, died Nov. 2 at McKenna Memorial Hospital.
 

He was born May 11, 1909 in Bay City to Anton M. and Minerva (nee Malouf) Badouh. He married Rubylein Barber in Alexander, Va. on March 3, 1943.
 

Badouh had practiced law in New Braunfels since 1946. He had practiced law in Bay City from 1937-1942 and then served in the U. S. military until 1946 during which time he saw combat duty. Badouh was a New Braunfels resident since 1946. He was chairman of the Comal County Democratic Party from 1948-1956 and was founding president of the Comal County Sheriff’s Posse in 1959. Badouh also sat on the board of the Colorado Lakes Council for the Girl Scouts from 1956-68. He also was on the board of directors of the Texas Rehabilitation Hospital for the past 35 years and had served as chairman and president. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
 

Survivors include his wife, Rubylien Badouh of New Braunfels; one daughter, Elaine Badouh of San Antonio; one son, Edward Badouh Jr. of San Antonio; one sister, Asma Ownes of New Orleans; one brother, Fred Badouh of New Braunfels; and six grandchildren.
 

Memorials may be given to the Gonzales Warm Springs Foundation; P. O. Box 572, Gonzales, Texas, 78629.

Services for Fred Badouh of New Braunfels will be at 10 a. m. Monday at Zoeller Funeral Home with the Rev. Elmer Gumper officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

 

Mr. Badouh, 79, died Sept. 8, 1990, at his home. The son of Anton M. and Minerah (nee Malouf) Badouh, he was born Nov. 30, 1910, in Bay City, Texas. He married Bernice Kay July 5, 1955, in Santa Fe, N. M. Mrs. Badouh died Dec. 23, 1989.

 

A resident of New Braunfels for 40 years, he was a real estate broker.

 

Mr. Badouh is survived by his sister, Asma Badouh Woen of New Orleans; and nieces and nephews from New Orleans, Houston, Lafayette and Kansas City, Mo.

 

Memorials may be made to Hospice New Braunfels.

Bernice K. Badouh

 

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a. m. at Zoellel Funeral home for Bernice K. Badouh, 80, of New Braunfels. Burial will be in Comal Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Badouh died Dec. 23, 1989, at McKenna Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 11, 1909, in Stephenville, Texas, and married Fred Badouh on July 5, 1955, in Santa Fe, N. M.

 

Mrs. Badouh had lived in New Braunfels for 34 years and was a retired school teacher for Carl Schurz and Seele schools. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

 

Survivors include her husband, Fred Badouh of New Braunfels; sister, Cleo Hallox of Elgin and Lucille Maxwell of San Antonio; brothers, Marshall Kay of Stephenville and H. D. Kay of Troy.

 

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Move to San Antonio

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Wilkins and family of 404 Lowenstein street have moved to San Antonio, where Mr. Wilkins will be loan guarantee examiner in the regional office of the Veterans Administration.

 

Mr. Wilkins was associated with the Mortgage Investment Co. here since his discharge from the Army, Oct. 5.

The May 25, 1934 Sanford Daily reported that Anton M. Badouh Jr. has been awarded the Herrin scholarship at Stanford University.

 

 

The June 18, 1935 issue of the El Paso Herald-Post reported that Anton Jr. was home from Leland Stanford University and had been awarded the Conderse Scholarship for the upcoming year.

Lafayette—Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at a service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Mary John Samaha, 80, who died at 8:30 a. m. Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at her residence in Scott.
 

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
 

The Rev. Keith Labove, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton, will conduct the services. Organist, Valerie Andrus, will sing for the services, “Ave Maria,” “On Eagles Wings” and “J’irai la voir un jour.”
 

Survivors include four daughters, Lydia Morton and her husband, Michael, of Detroit, Mich., Selena Landry and her husband, Richard Dale Jr., of Milton, Marylouise Samaha and her husband George A. Steinberger of Houston and Georgia Morain and her husband, John R., of Scott; and six grandchildren, Jessica Arceneaux, John Daniel Arceneaux and his companion, Lisa Alt, Andrew Landry, Stephanie Landry, Jeffrey Morain and his wife, Angela, and Adrienne Morain.
 

She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Samaha, and her parents.
 

Mrs. Samaha was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Community in Carencro and will be remembered as a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother. She also leaves behind several loving pets. She was attended to during her last days by a loving family friend, Yolanda Martin.
 

A native of Cuero, Texas, Mrs. Samaha was the daughter of the late Abraham John and the former Nellie Badouh, both natives of Lebanon.
 

She, along with her husband, retired to Lafayette 23 years ago. They were formerly the proprietors of the family business, Samaha’s General Merchandise of Plaquemine.
 

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Samaha’s name may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200. Lafayette, La., 70503.
 

Pallbearers will be Michael Morton, Richard Landry, George Steinberger, John Morain, Danny Arceneaux, Jeff Morain and Drew Landry.
 

A rosary will be recited this evening in the funeral home.
 

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2 p. m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a. m. Sunday until time of the services.

Samaha, George Abdalla  Died at 9:45 a. m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 1979 in Lafayette. He was 77, a native of Donaldsonville and a resident of Lafayette for the past four years. He was a retired merchant in Plaquemine. Funeral mass at Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Lafayette, at 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Lafayette. Survived by his wife, Mary John Samaha, Lafayette; four daughters, Mrs. Bert (Lydia) Doyle, Mrs. Wilfred (Selena) Elias Jr. and Mrs. John (Georgia) Morain, all of Lafayette, and Mrs. George (Mary Louise Steinberger, Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; and a brother, Mitchell Abdalla Samaha, Clarksdale, Miss. Preceded in death by his father, Said Abdalla Samaha and mother, Saleme Haggar. He was a member of the Elks Club, Woodmen of the World, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Lyons Club, Moose Lodge and Cedars of Lebanon, all in Plaquemine.
