Clara Lane Bradford

Funeral services for Clara Lane Bradford, 86, of Bay City will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday at Mother Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. K. J. Griggs officiating.  Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.  Visitation will be until 9 pm today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bradford was born Aug. 8, 1900, in Dewitt County, TX to Tome and Leatha Smith Lane Sr. and died Dec 6, 1986 at Sweeny House, Sweeny.  She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, James Bradford and a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Bradford of Houston; six sisters, Viola Johnson, Elva James, Ida Robbins, Mae Dell Roberts, Ola Lane and Blanch Lane, all of Bay City; a niece, Delores Wilkerson of Houston; a nephew, Rufus James of Chicago, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Daryl Bradford of Pittsburgh, Pa., Karyl Bradford of Prairie View and Kimberly Bradford of Houston.

Pallbearers include Wells Clark, T.H. Edison, Ronnie Law, Ernest Mackey, James Roberson and Willie Smith.  Honorary pallbearers include James Bradford, Rufus Lee James, Daryl Bradford and members of the Ushers Group of this vicinity and the Bible Band.

Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.

Thomas C. Bratcher

Thomas C. Bratcher, 48, a resident of Bay City, passed away in Methodist Hospital November 1.  He was a member of the Baptist church, a World War II veteran and a maintenance employee at Bay City High School.  Survivors include: wife, Mrs. Earline Bratcher of Bay City; 2 daughters, Mrs. Rosie Harkless of Houston and Mrs., Janice Massey of Oakland, California; 4 sons, Ray and Robert Bratcher of Houston and Donal and Bruce Bratcher of Bay City; 1 brother, Robert L. Bratcher of San Antonio; 4 grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held Monday, November 6, at the Enterprise Baptist Church in Bay City at 2 pm with Rev. A. H. Pointer officiating.  Interment will be at Eastview Cemetery.  Mr. Bratcher will lie in state from 1-2 pm Monday at the Enterprise Baptist Church. 

Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.
