Funeral services for Mr. Sterling Austin, 64, of Bay City will be held 2 pm Saturday at Mother Zion Baptist Church in Bay City with the Rev. L. V. Harvey officiating.  Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery in Bay City. Visitation hours were 3-9 pm Friday at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.

Mr. Austin was born Nov. 6, 1919, and died May 16, 1984, at the University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital in Galveston.  Mr. Austin was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include wife, Mrs. Ann Austin of Bay City; sister, Mrs. Willie Mae Smith of Bay City; foster son-nephew, Anthony R. Smith of Bay City; and four grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Anthony R. Smith, Darrell Robinson, Sam peters, Jr. James Robinson Jr., Rogers Austin Jr. Charles Robinson, Kenry Robinson, David Robinson, Michael Robinson and Leon Herbert Jr.

Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Earls Berry, 47 of Houston, will be held Tuesday, January 5, 1999, at 11am at the Enterprise Baptist Church in Bay City with Rev. J. Weldon Gilbert officiating.  Burial will be at Eastview Cemetery in Bay City.

She was born in Bay City on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 1951 to Felix Earls and Emma Johnson Earls, and passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999 at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston.

Linda’s Christian aspirations transpired early in life from the Enterprise Baptist Church, and she kept the faith.  She was 1970 graduate of Bay City High School; thereafter, attending Prairie View A & M University and Texas State Technical Institute. Prior to her demise, she was employed as a clerk with Foley’s Department Store.

Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Berry and a stepdaughter, Rondrell Compton. She is also survived by her mother, Emma Earls, four sisters and two brothers-in-law, her twin Brenda Alliniece (& Gary), Audrey Byrd (& Courtland), Arva Murphy Thomas and Orville Lyna Earls.

Other survivors include her grandmothers, Alja Johson and Lizzie Earls; an aunt, Pauline Earls Allen; two nieces, Shamira and Melissa; four nephews, Danna, Adrain, Garry II and Joseph; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, an extended family of cousins, other relatives, and a family of friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Felix Earls, Oct. 21, 1996.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Guy Stone, James Robinson, Randall Knapp, Edwin McGrue, Harry Sauceda and Walter Bryant.  Honorary pallbearers will include Courtland Byrd, Gary Alliniece, Michael Spiller and Danna Earls.

Arrangements with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in Bay City.
