John C. “D. C.” White Jr.

Palacios—John C. White, “D. C” Jr., 66, of Palacios, died Monday in a Houston hospital. He was born May 5, 1920, in Colorado, to the late John C. White Sr. and Anne Dannels White.

A veteran of WWII. Mr. White was a member and past Master of Blessing Masonic Lodge No. 411. He was also a member and past patron of Palacios Eastern Star Lodge No. 125, and of the Palacios Rotary Club, with a perfect attendance for the last 36 years. Mr. White had also been a scoutmaster of Troop 47 for the last 30 years.

Mr. White had been a resident of Palacios since 1946. He opened a chiropractic office there in 1949.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p. m. at the Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Palacios with Gary Petty officiating. Burial will follow in Hawley Cemetery in Blessing.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline “Polly” Christian White, Palacios; two sisters, Tracy Barrett, Palacios, Wanda Rickaway, Blessing; three brothers, Arthur White, LaWard; Harvey White, Pasadena; Charles White, Port Lavaca; and a step-mother, Belle White.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

PALACIOS [Matagorda County, Texas] -- Pauline White, 89, of Palacios died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000.

She was born March 24, 1911, in Allerton, IL, to the late Moses and Nancy Rainey Axsom. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was past matron of the Palacios Chapter No. 125 Order of Eastern Star and a present member of the Bay City Chapter No. 380. She formerly worked as a dental assistant in the office of John W. Hart.

Survivors: grandson, Carl Vanderwindt of Los Angeles, Calif.

Preceded in death by: husband, Dr. John C. White; daughter, Diane Bevins; parents; brother, Everett Axsom and Hobert Axsom; foster parents, William and Fleeta Christian.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Slavik Funeral Home, Edna, 782-2152.

Chiropractic Society Holds Meeting Here

The Gulf Coast Chiropractic Society held its regular monthly meeting in Palacios Saturday, October 1.

Drs. Clyde Spellman, El Campo, D. A. Einkauf and K. A. Daggett, Bay City, John C. White and Norman E. Runyon, Palacios attended the meeting. Dr. Runyon was host.

Dr. Einkauf discussed the work of Dr. Illi of Switzerland, who has done extensive research in chiropractic. Dr. Illi's work was presented at the recently held Homecoming at the Texas Chiropractic College at San Antonio.

Other portions of the program included case management and X-Ray procedure.

Dr. Spellman was selected to be host to the next meeting of the society.

John C. White, Sr.

Funeral services for John Charles White, Sr. were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday, January 11, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wesley Schulze of Edna officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery.

Son of Charles W. and Vitileen E. Goodreau White, he was born September 19, 1892 in Edmond, Kansas. A retired butcher and carpenter, he had lived in Matagorda County since 1911 and had been a resident of Palacios for 33 years. He passed away Sunday, January 9.

He is survived by his wife Bell Maynard White of Palacios; two daughters, Mrs. Sterling Barrett of Palacios and Mrs. W. L. Rickaway of Blessing; four sons, Arthur White of LaWard, Harvey White of Yellville, Ark., Dr. John C. White, Jr. and Charles White of Palacios; one brother, H. I. White of Bay City; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Bland of Los Angeles and Mrs. Ethel Hart of Sundance, Wyo.; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Belle Beulah White

Funeral services for Belle Beulah White, 94, of Palacios, were held June 27, 1996 at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leon Maxwell officiating. Interment was at Palacios Cemetery.

Mrs. White was born March 23, 1902, in Marble Falls, Tx. to the late Thomas Jefferson and Marietta Fuchs Maynard. She died June 25, 1996.

A homemaker, Mrs. White is survived by two daughters, Tracy Lockey of LaMarque, Tx. and Wanda M. Rickaway of New Braunfels, Tx.; two sons, Arthur White of LaWard, Tx. and Charles White of Palacios; and 13 grandchildren.

Viola Bell White

Viola Bell White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. White, who died at her home in this city, September 20, 1939, was born October 16, 1924. She had suffered for some time from a malady that medical science, tender nursing and devotion were without avail and at a tender age she has been called to her eternal home.

Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon from the family residence, with Rev. Ramsey, of LaWard, officiating. Burial was made in the Palacios Cemetery under the direction of the Brandon-Duffy Funeral Home.

We join the many friends of the bereaved family in extending heartfelt sympathy.
