Funeral services for Dr. John Milton Laughlin, 68, of Van Vleck will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Burial will be in Sweeny Cemetery. Dr. Laughlin was born August 22, 1917, in Houston, and died at 10:55 p. m. Sept. 21, 1985, at Matagorda General Hospital. A resident of Bay City for 25 years, he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Bay City Rotary Club and past president, 1978-79; member of Matagorda General Hospital medical staff and past chief of staff; member of American, Texas and Two County (Matagorda and Wharton) and Southern medical associations; member of Singleton Surgical Society; American Legion Post 503 and Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Noma Orr Laughlin of Van Vleck; his mother, Lois L. Clark of Clear Lake; a daughter, Carrie L. Taylor of Philadelphia, Pa.; daughter and son-in-law, Lavinia L. and Ronald W. Beebe of Clear Lake; a brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Mildred Laughlin of West Columbia; an uncle, Hall W. Griggs of West Columbia; three grandsons and one granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers include Dr. Ed Pesak, Dr. Joseph Valloppillil, W. A. Orr, Edgar McGaughey, David Orr and Jack Huebner. Honorary pallbearers include the medical staff of Matagorda General Hospital and members of the Bay City Rotary Club. In lieu of the usual contributions, donations may be made to the building fund of Calvary Baptist Church, 3321 Sixth St., Bay City. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home, Bay City.
