Dr. Jacobs was also a Justice of the Peace and many of the early deed records filed in the Kaufman County Court House were witnessed by Dr. Edwin Jacobs. Dr. Jacobs was a member of the Christian Church in Rockwall. This family remained in Kaufman County until about 1870 when they moved to Matagorda County, Texas.
