Tuesday in the First Methodist Church of Bay City followed by burial in the Cedarvale Cemetery. Dr. Fricke, 51, a well known dentist having practiced dentistry in Bay City for 27 years, died Sunday morning at his home following a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Alma; father, George H. Fricke of Round Top; daughter, Mrs. Patricia Ewell of Austin and a son, Michael M. Fricke of Port Lavaca. Palacios Beacon, June 24, 1965

Coppock Dear Friends and Relatives, Our beloved mother, Alma Moorman Coppock, passed from this life to be with our Heavenly Father and others who have gone before at 4:00 AM on September, 15, 2005. Mother was born in an East Texas oil town, Votaw, Texas, on July 23, 1914. Early on, her family moved to Daisetta, Texas, where her father worked for the remainder of his life. Her mother was Rachel Melinda Moorman, a wonderful, kind and gentle soul. Her father was Bob Moorman. She attended Hull-Daisetta school. She said she was lucky to be Valedictorian of her senior class. Her cousin, Yvonne Maynard, attended school with her and both were extremely bright and competitive. Mother married Chris Vanya in 1934 and her son, Michael, is the sole issue of that marriage. Mother married in June, 1940, to Dr. Vernon H. Fricke and their daughter, Patricia, was born in January, 1942. She and Vernon lived together in Bay City until his death in June, 1965. They sent their children to the University of Texas. Mother later married Robert Coppock whom we adored. He took Mother all over the world. She was active in many civic and social organizations. In 1967, she became a realtor. She then passed the State Board of Insurance without ever having worked in insurance. Our mother was a unique, one-of-a-kind lady. She was extremely intelligent. She loved people and she let it show. We request that you remember her well, there will never be another. Mother was the eldest of five children. Her siblings were Robert Onnie Moorman, Athie Moorman White, Lonnie Moorman, and William Watt Moorman. All are deceased. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ewell of Webster, and son, Judge Michael Moorman Fricke and his wife, Anita, of Port Lavaca, Texas. She is also survived by one grandson, Jason Ewell and wife, Ann, of Katy, Texas and three granddaughters; Mary Fricke of Alvin, Texas; Lisa Berger and husband, James Berger of New Albany, Ohio; and Laura Grundhoefer and husband James of San Antonio., Texas. Pallbearers are hon. David Roberts, D. J.,”UT”; hon. E. M. Huitt, Jr., D. J., “UT”; Richard “Dick” Paul Dye, M. A.,”Southwestern”; Dr. James Simons, DDS, “A&M” and Dr. James Davant, DVM. Honorary pallbearer is Jason Ewell, BS, MA Electrical Eng. “A&M” Please come and celebrate other mothers’ passage to heaven and her accomplishments here in Bay City. Visitation will be Saturday, September 17, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home at 2313 Ave. I, Bay City, Texas. Services will be Sunday, September 18, at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Bay City, Texas with Rev. Kevin Young officiating. Internment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Michael Moorman Fricke, 79, of Port Lavaca, TX, passed away at his home, surrounded by family, on September 15, 2016. He was born December 10, 1936, in Daisetta, TX. When Michael was a small child, his family moved to Bay City, where he grew up and graduated from Bay City High School. Michael graduated from The University of Texas with a B.A. in Psychology in 1958 and then received his LL.B. from The University of Texas - School of Law in 1961. He presided as the first Judge of the Calhoun County Court of Law No. 1 from 1986 to 1999. Some of his achievements included: former Municipal Court Judge; former City Attorney (22 years); President, County Courts at Law Judges Association; Vice-Chairman, Grievance Committee (8 years) and President, Calhoun County Bar Association. He was a member of American Bar Association; Criminal Defense Lawyers Association; Texas Bar Foundation and the 24th Judicial District Community Justice Council. In his later years, he spent numerous hours researching his family history sharing with all who would listen. When he wasn’t busy with all of that he loved to bowl, play golf, fish, play his guitar, and root for the Texas Longhorns. He is survived by his wife, Anita Gonzales Fricke; daughters, Mary Davant Fricke of Port Lavaca, Lisa Fricke Berger (James J.) of Tulsa, OK and Laura Fricke Grundhoefer (Jon R.) of San Antonio; sister, Patricia Fricke Ewell of Katy; sister-in-law, Connie Gonzales Brecker (Jim); brother-in-law, Tony Gonzales (Lisa); grandchildren, Belinda Fricke, Jarrod Berger, Lauren Berger, Jordan Grundhoefer and Joshua Grundhoefer; great-grandson, Adrian Michael Fricke; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Herman Fricke and Alma Ralph Moorman Fricke Coppock. A time of visitation will be held Friday, September 23, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016, at 11 a.m., at Grace Episcopal Church. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. James E. Davant DVM, Richard “Dick” Dye, Michael W. Davant, Hulon G. Moorman, Jon R. Grundhoefer and James J. Berger. A private burial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Longhorn Foundation, Attn: Memorial Gifts, P.O.
