Dr. E. S. Darling Dies At Emporia E. Sheldon Darling, D. D., M. D., and LL. B., rector of Christ Episcopal church, Emporia, died at his parish over the week-end and was buried yesterday, according to a telegram received here by Rev. Norman Taylor from Rt. Rev. A. C. Thomson D.D., bishop of the diocese of Southern Virginia. Dr. Darling, one of the most interesting rectors in the list of Southern diocese clergy, had a number of friends in Norfolk. He was a native of Toronto, Canada, and had held parishes in Pennsylvania, Michigan and New York. He settled in Emporia in 1926, assuming duties as rector of the Episcopal church there and since that time had become one of the most beloved figures in that section. Dr. Darling first began his extensive education at Wesleyan college where he received a B. A. degree. His M. D. degree was obtained at University of Indiana, and his L. L. B. degree from the General Theological Seminary. For several months Dr. Darling had been inactive in church work due to his illness. Ledger-Star, Norfolk, Virginia, February 10, 1931 Dr. E. S. Darling Richmond, Va., Feb.10.—The body of Dr. E. S. Darling, Emporia, who died Saturday night, was forwarded to Richmond yesterday for funeral services and burial. Dr. Darling was known widely both as a pulpit orator and as a writer. He is survived by a sister, Miss Marion Darling, who made her home with him and a brother, the Rev. Elmer Darling, of California. Dr. Darling died in 1931
and was first buried in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Richmond
City, Virginia on February 9, 1931. His body was disinterred May
13, 1931 and transported to Warkworth,
Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada
to be buried with his family. |

cleared away somewhat, the result was read as

President Sholl
then called the meeting to order for the transaction
of regular business, when various committees
reported. E. C. Van Ness reported on fire
extinguishers, recommending the Babcock of various
sizes. The committee on Club house reported
variously, two plans being submitted, neither of
which were adopted, the committee being given more
time. Some discussion arose as to the location, the
bay front, the city park and a central business
location all having devotees. The committee on the incorporation of the town reported no progress, having completed the duties required of them at the last meeting. This committee was discharged and a committee consisting of Messrs. Clapp, Darling and Gaumer was appointed to get out the petition and proceed with the election.
