Tillman Moody Daniel, Jr., was born on September 4, 1931, in Chisholm, Rockwell  County, Texas. Primarily of Scotch-Irish-English descent, he was the son of Tillman Moody Daniel, Sr., who was born on June 1, 1902, in Forney, Kaufman County, Texas, and Eula Mae Caughran of Chisholm, Texas, who was born on May 11, 1902, and died on October 21, 1982. She was buried in Chisholm.

Tillman, Jr.'s paternal grandparents were William Kemp Daniel (July 17, 1879-April 10, 1946) of Forney, Texas, and Susan Eureka Moody (March 13, 1882- March 23, 1974) of Groesbeck, Limestone County, Texas. Both were buried in Forney, Texas. His maternal
grandparents were William Lewis Caughran (March 27, 1877-January 17, 1929) of Lincoln County, Tennessee, and Lula Jane Odell (January 15, 1884-August 12, 1934) of Belton, Bell County, Texas. Both were buried in Chisholm. Tillman originally lived in Hunt County and was graduated from Greenville High School. He was also graduated from Baylor University in Waco and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Tillman Moody Daniel, Jr., and Freda Louise Kilgo were married in Angleton, Texas. Freda was born in Konawa, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma. Also of Scotch-Irish-English descent, she was the daughter of Fred Kilgo who was born on November 22, 1914, in Maple, Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, and Margaret Elaine Touchton who was born on February 12, 1917, in Mineola, Wood County, Texas. Freda's stepfather was Elmo Willard Bailey, Jr. (April 7, 1911-May 12, 1984) of Palacios, Texas. He was buried in Angleton. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Houston Kilgo (October 8, 1883-January 29, 1953) of Savoy, Marion County, Alabama, and Carrie O'Brian (July 31, 1886- June 24, 1981) of Rudy, Crawford County, Arkansas; both were buried in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Freda's maternal grandparents were John Leslie Touchton (February 18, 1892-August 2, 1966) of Wood County, Texas, and Tevis Tinday McCary (March 11, 1898-September 3, 1969) of Corn Hill (now Eddy), Texas; both were buried in Mineola.

Freda's childhood was spent in Brazoria County. She was graduated from Angleton High School and Southern Methodist University in Dallas. During the first three years of the Daniel's married life, Tillman served as a Flight Surgeon in the United States Air Force with the rank of Captain. During this period, two sons were born to them. Gregory Tillman in San Antonio, Texas, and Kirk Bailey in Mesa, Arizona.

In September of 1959, the family moved to Bay City where Dr. Daniel practiced  medicine. Two more children were born in Bay City. Brett Christopher and Lisa Claire.

All of the family were members of the First United Methodist Church where both Tillman and Freda served on the administrative board and as Sunday School teachers.

Dr. Daniel served as Matagorda General Hospital chief-of-staff in 1976 and again in 1984. He was active in the Four County Medical Society. Freda took an active part in the Women's Medical Auxiliary, Book Review Club, Junior Service League, Matagorda County Genealogical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a  member of the Bay City Library Board of Directors.

Tillman Moody Daniel, Jr.
September 4, 1931 - December 8, 2024

Tillman Moody Daniel, Jr., 93, passed away December 8, 2024 in Bay City, Texas. He was born September 4, 1931 in Chisholm, Texas to the late Tillman Moody Daniel, Sr. and Eula Mae Caughran Daniel.

Tillman graduated from Greenville High School, Baylor University and Baylor College of Medicine. 

On July 14, 1956, Tillman married Freda Louise Kilgo in Angleton, Texas. They were married for 68 years, and were blessed with four children. 

After serving three years as a Flight Surgeon with rank of Captain in the USAF, Tillman moved to Bay City, Texas. There he practiced general medicine for forty years. He delivered approximately 3,000 babies. In 1999, he retired and enjoyed many happy years pursuing his hobbies of hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church and served in many capacities there. He was active in Emmaus and the prison ministry Kairos. He loved nature and worked with the Birding Center. There is a garden named for him there. Tillman was a patriot and a member of Cradle of Texas Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution and Matagorda County Chapter #35, Sons of the Republic of Texas.

Tillman is preceded in death by his parents, and sons Kirk Bailey Daniel and Brett Christopher Daniel. He is survived by his wife Freda; son Gregory Tillman Daniel, Sr. and wife Nancy, and daughter Lisa Claire Daniel Frick and husband Tod. He is delighted to have six grandchildren: Gregory Tillman Daniel, Jr. and wife Erin, Leslie Kay Daniel Marcum and husband Robby, Jacob Christopher Daniel, Tod Mills Frick and wife Hui-Ling, Emery Elaine Donnelly and husband Tom, and Bailey Elaine Daniel. As a special blessing he has three great-grandchildren; Grady Tillman Daniel, Mason Raymond Daniel, and Robert Tillman Daniel. 

Visitation will be Friday, December 13, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 pm at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm at First Methodist Church Bay City. Private interment will follow.

Kirk Bailey Daniel
December 11, 1958 - July 28, 2018

Kirk Bailey Daniel, 59, of Bay City, TX was born December 11, 1958 in Mesa, Arizona and passed away July 28, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, TX.

He was the son of Dr. Tillman M. Daniel and Freda Kilgo Daniel.

Kirk graduated from Bay City High School in 1977.  After graduation, he attended Southern Methodist University and was affiliated with Sigma Alpha Epsilon Social Fraternity.  He attended Scuba Diving school where he received his certification.  He received a degree in Medical Technology at ITT in Houston, TX.  He became a member of the United States Marine Corp in 1994.  After his service, Kirk managed D & D Turf Farm and Ranch, a family business.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed these times with his dad and brothers.

He was a member of Cradle of Texas Chapter #35, Sons of the American Revolution Chapter #35, Sons of the Republic f Texas, and Bay City First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Bailey, and Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Daniel.

Kirk is survived by his parents; daughter, Bailey Louise Daniel of Bay City; brothers, Greg T. Daniel and wife Nancy of Austin and Brett C. Daniel of Sargent; sister, Lisa Daniel Frick and husband Tod E. Frick of Orange Beach, AL; nephews and nieces, Greg T. Daniel Jr. and wife Erin, Jacob C. Daniel, Tod Mills Frick, Leslie K. Daniel and Emery E. Frick.

Viewing will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Bay City with Dr. Russ Munch officiating.

Pallbearers are Greg Daniel Sr., Brett Daniel, Greg Daniel Jr., Jacob Daniel, Tod Frick and Jesse Regalado.                      

Memorials may be made to the Bay City First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.

Brett Christopher Daniel
August 18, 1960 - April 6, 2023

Brett Christopher Daniel, 62, of Sargent passed away April 6, 2023.  He was born August 18, 1960 in Bay City, Texas to Dr. Tillman M. Daniel and Freda Kilgo Daniel.

Brett graduated Bay City High School in 1978 before attending Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. He graduated in 1983 with a degree in Agribusiness and later in life obtained another degree at the University of Houston in Industrial Hygiene and Safety.  His career took him all over the United States but he was most fond of his time working on the King Ranch. Brett loved the outdoors and did not stray away from an adventure. In his high school years, he set his eyes to the sky and received his private pilot’s license. In college he took up scuba diving. Other adventures took him from the high deserts of West Texas to the depths of the Gulf of Mexico. Brett was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending free time chasing deer, wing shooting game birds, and stretching his lines tight on all species of game fish. He had many wonderful and extraordinary adventures with his brothers, dad, friends, as well as his son later in life. He also loved his dogs, which were his companions throughout life, whether it be in the field pointing out a quail' or on the couch doling out love.

He is survived by his parents; son Jacob C. Daniel; brother Greg T. Daniel and wife Nancy; sister Lisa Daniel Frick and husband Tod E. Frick; nieces Bailey Louise Daniel, and Leslie K. Marcum and husband Robby Marcum, and nephews Greg T. Daniel, Jr. and wife Erin, Tod Mills Frick and wife Ma Mae Frick, and Emery E. Frick.

Graveside services will be 2:30 PM Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Cedarvale Cemetery.
