Dr. Tyler Walter Cagle, son of Wade P. Cagle (August 28, 1882 - November 6, 1956) and Anna Emily Riek Cagle (October 19, 1884 - May 5, 1961) was born in Krum, Denton County, Texas and died March 26, 1996 in Mexia, Limestone County, Texas. He had three siblings, Robert Wade Cagle, Sr. (1909-1981), Daisy Mae Cagle (1917-1996) and a brother, George Riley Cagle (1925-1997). His father was a locomotive fireman. The following information includes other events in his life.

Capt. and Mrs. Tyler W. Cagle will arrive in Fort Worth this week for a visit with relatives before coming to Abilene to spend several days as guests of their uncle and aunt, Dr. and Mrs. William R. Snow, 702 Sayles. Captain and Mrs. Cagle came from Panama by plane landing in New York City a week ago. Captain Cagle has been stationed at Gorgas Hospital in Panama for the past three years. His sister, Mrs. C. A. Renton, 1042 Hickory, will go to Fort Worth to meet them.

Capt. Tyler W. Cagle, dentist in the Army medical corps on detached duty with the governor of the Panama Canal zone, and Mrs. Cagle, civilian employee of the Army engineers arrived in Abilene Wednesday night for a visit with Dr. and Mrs. W. R. Snow, 702 Sayles, and Mrs. C. A. Renton. They will be here until Saturday. Captain Cagle is home for the first time since he left for Panama in December, 1940. This is his first visit with his sister, Mrs. Renton of England, in seven years. He is a nephew of Mrs. Snow. Captain Cagle went to Panama as a civilian employee after internship in Columbia Presbyterian medical center in New York City. His position became a part of the Army in October, 1943, and he was accepted as a first lieutenant, receiving his present rank in June, this year. His patients are Navy and Army personnel and also U. S. civilian employees. Mrs. Cagle, the former Sue Woolery of New York City, is connected with an Army dispensary as a nurse. She and Captain Cagle were married in Panama in April, 1941. For her first 18 months in Panama she was a junior accountant with the Navy department. She was on the nursing staff at Columbia Presbyterian, of which she is a graduate. Captain Cagle, graduate of Abilene High School and in 1935 of Hardin Simmons University where he was a member of the male quartet, finished dental school at Northwestern in 1939. He was employed in the Reporter-News mailing room and press room while attending high school here and Hardin-Simmons. He and Mrs. Cagle will continue their work in Panama indefinitely, maintaining a legal address in Abilene, as required by Panama residents. Making the circuit by plane, the couple arrived in the states Sept. 18, and will leave from New Orleans, La., at the conclusion of their visit here. Mrs. Snow is holding open house in their honor this evening from 5:30 to 9:30 p. m. at the Snow residence.

MEXIA -- Services for Susan Woolery Cagle, 90, of Alvin and formerly of Mexia will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Porter Funeral Home in Mexia with the Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Burial will be in Mexia Cemetery. She died Thursday, Jan. 23, in Alvin. Mrs. Cagle was born in New Lebanon, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Tyler W. Cagle. She is survived by a daughter, Alice Cagle of Alvin.

Funeral for Wade Price Cagle, 74, of Fort Worth, a former resident of Abilene, will be held at 10 a. m. Thursday with Dr. Sterling Price, pastor of University Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mr. Cagle died in a Mathis hospital Tuesday. He was visiting a son, Dr. Robert W. Cagle, when he suffered a heart attack last Thursday. Mr. Cagle lived in Abilene from 1924 to 1938. He was a building contractor and worked as a building engineer at Hardin-Simmons University. He was a former member of University Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dr. Robert W. Cagle of Mathis, Dr. Tyler W. Cagle of Temple and M.Sgt. George R. Cagle of Camp Pendleton, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. C. A. Benton of Alvin; one sister, Mrs. Nona F. Starcher of Spur; and eight grandchildren. Abilene relatives include a nephew, Dr. Joseph C. Snow; niece, Mrs. John Crutchfield; Mr. and Mrs. H. C. McDermett, sister and brother-in-law, and Mrs. Alba Anthony, a sister-in-law. Pallbearers will be Guy Shaw, Ollie McMinn, John Crutchfield, H. R. Arrant and Cecil Rutherford of Abilene, and Frank Rick of Stamford.

Funeral for Mrs. W. P. Cagle, 75, former Abilenian who died Friday at Mathis, will be held Monday at 10 a. m. at Elliott's Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Maple Avery, pastor of the University Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Cagle, widow of a former building contractor and building engineer at Hardin-Simmons University, lived here from 1924 until 1938. She resided in Corpus Christi until moving to Mathis last fall. Survivors include three sons, Riley, with the armed forces, Dr. Robert Cagle of Mathis and Dr. Tyler Cagle of Temple; one daughter, Mrs. C. A. Renton of Alvin; three sisters, Mrs. H. C. McDermott of 2101 Orange St.; Mrs. J. L. Anthony of 1625 N. 21st St. and Mrs. Dora Cowan of Gainesville; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be W. J. Kling, Paul Robinson, W. C. White, Allen White, and R. W. Stuard, all of Abilene, and Frank Riek of Stamford.
