Obituary

Died in the hospital at the post of Arkansas, Arkansas on the 12th inst. in the 29th year of his age, Rodolphus D. Sterling, of Co. D., 6th regiment Texas infantry, Garland's brigade. The deceased died of pneumonia, after an illness of two weeks. He has been a resident of Matagorda, Texas, for more than 25 years, and there joined the service at the first call for Texas troops. We can assure his friends and family that while sick he had the best medical attendance, and was nursed constantly and faithfully until his death. It is now only left to us to render a last tribute to his memory, and as officers of the company to which he was attached for more than a year, to assure his afflicted family of our deep sympathy with them in the loss of one who was social, kind, generous and upright; a firm, unflinching patriot, and ever-willing, faithful and prompt in the discharge of his duties as a soldier.
